Song of the South coming to DVD (UK promo leaflet)

Post by ichabod »

OK, I just opened up my copy of Mickey Mouse Clubhouse: Mickey's Great Clubhouse hunt (don't judge me, I'm only human), It's not released until Monday 2nd April, but it came in the post early (thanks to Play). It's been sitting there all day (I may have bought it, but wasn't that eager to watch it), and I've just opened it to find a leaflet saying that Song of the South is coming to the UK this August on a special edition DVD.

The picture shows a picture of what I presume is a mock up of the cover with Br'er Rabbit in the centre with 2 discs coming out from. I would scan it in to show you, but I've lost the cable that connects my scanner to the computer!

Although let's face it, none of you will probably believe me.

Well, April 1 is coming up, but it says March 31 on your post, so that doesn't count. 8)

Is this just in the UK? Ha! The americans have been complaining about this for years! I love it when we get one over on them when it comes to DVDs :P ! I'll definitely be getting it!

If it only comes out in the UK, you Americans just make sure to be multi-region capable.

I second NarniaDis' double posts. Why is it that the UK will have gotten (as of August 2007) two releases of SOTS, (and in Asia, if they also get this release, three releases of SOTS), when the US and all of region 1 hasn't seen Song of the South on "home video" AT ALL?!?!! That is REALLY not fair. I'm truely hoping that Disney releases a 2-Disk of SOTS here as well, but I'll not hold my breath.

Honestly, this would make sense if Disney released SOTS in Region 2 to "test the waters" so to speak. If Song of the South sells really well and gets positve feedback on the release, Disney might then decide to finally release SOTS here in region 1. Anyway, if we DON'T get SOTS released here in the US and it does get released in the UK, I'll do my best to import a copy.

Well, here's to hoping that Disney realizes that SOTS is truely a loved film by those who have seen it! (Which is few now-a-days!)

Nice job on the leaflet and cover, ichabod.

Oh, and if this is true, I'll gladly:

1) Eat my words.
2) Buy a region-free player and import this.

Sorry, the cover's very obviously photoshopped. Brer Fox and Brer Bear are directly cut out of the film itself (in other words, they're cels, not clipart). Disney always uses clipart for their covers, not film frame cut-outs. The logo is also from a screencap. Disney virtually never uses original film logos for their covers, let alone one as old-fashioned as that. The Brer Rabbit pic is also from an 80s poster, if I remember correctly. If this were legit, it'd be all-new artwork. Plus, this is supposedly a scan from a leaflet. Disney leaflets never scan so clearly like that. The paper material they use causes criss-cross patterns all over the artwork (see lighthousemike's famous pre-release threads). Nice try. :P

I smell an April Fool's Joke abrewin'.
Disney Channel died when they stopped airing movies with Haley mills (Parent Trap and Pollyanna) and fun adventure movies like Swiss Family Robinson. R.I.P. the REAL Disney Channel. Date of Death: When the shows became teenie bopperish.

Are you sure you didn't make that picture up? 'Cause it looks so amateur, even with the little snippets on the corners. Why, it just screams (or, in this film's case, "laughs") April Fool's.

Yay for April Fools!

And now the big question is - what does MMP have up his sleeve this year?
