Met Jim Cummings today: Winnie the Pooh and Tigger too!

Post by Barbossa »

Met Jim Cummings today (the current voice of Winnie and Tigger) at the Calgary Comic Expo. Great guy. He signed my Winnie the Pooh Blu-Ray for me, thus making it the first DAC I've ever gotten signed!

Here's Jim and me:

And Jim signing my Blu-Ray:

I asked him to do Tigger for me and he did. One of my highlghts today! 8)

I'm putting together a trip report over at Micechat, with a lot more photos. Here's the link:

The biggest highlight was meeting the whole cast of Star Trek: The Next Generation! I was beamed-up to seventh heaven on that one. Awesome day. Going again tomorrow. 8)

Soooooooo jealous!!! :D I absolutely love Jim Cummings! Must have been so awesome to meet him! :pink:

If I ever have the chance to meet him myself, I'll have to bring something Darkwing for him to sign, and ask him to say, "I am the terror that flaps in the night . . . " :D

Dude you are so lucky to meet a Animation voice actor legend like Jim Cummings.I mean he has been apart of our childhoods and voiced so many characters that he should be called the next Mel Blanc.

Funny thing was, there was no line-up at all to see him, and his autographs were free! The few people that were there around him got him to record phone/voice mail messages for their phones. 8)

It was a crazy day. The BMO Centre down at the Stampede Grounds actually reached capacity and the fire officials wouldn't let any more people in. Luckily I got there an hour before the show started, and spent the entire day there.

This was my very first Comic Con so it was a lot to take in. And I mean, this one is small compared to SDCC.

That is so cool of him! Other celebrities would have wanted charge for that!

I'm totally jealous you got to meet him! :) Glad to see you had a great time too.

Oh man, if I ever met him, I'd beg him to voice Don Karnage or Darkwing Duck for me.

Also, did you know that Mr. Cummings will call sick children at the hospital as Winnie the Pooh? That's a really sweet little fact that I recently learned. Mel Blanc would do the same thing for various kids' favorite Looney Tunes characters as well.

Jim Cummings deserves more fame. He's one of the best voice actors of all time, and definitely in the same league as Mel Blanc and Sterling Holloway.

Holy crap... quite surprising. Jim is one of the few voice artists left on my "would like to meet" list, so I'm rather jealous heh.

Went again today. Yesterday it was a complete zoo. The building reached capacity and they had to shut the place to new arrivals (kinda like Disneyland!). Today I got there an hour and a half early, and there were huge line-ups to get in, but it went rather quick - I guess they did some reorganization from yesterday.

Today I had a very good chat with Richard Hatch (Tom Zarek on BSG and the original Apollo). Met Lance Henricksen, David Prowse (Darth Vader - very nice gentleman - He was happy that he was my very first Star Wars autograph), Katee Sackhoff again (who wouldn't, she's frackin' cute!), John de Lancie (Q from Star Trek TNG), and Robert Englund! A great weekend! 8)

Oh, and while I was waiting to meet Robert Englund, I was able to snap a few pics of almost the entire cast of Star Trek: TNG together - I think just Wil and Marina weren't there yet.

Ok, here's the full list of people I met this weekend...

Jim Cummings

From Battlestar Galactica:
Aaron Douglas
Richard Hatch
Katee Sackhoff

From Star Trek: TNG
Patrick Stewart
Jonathan Frakes
LeVar Burton
Michael Dorn
Brint Spiner
Marina Sirtis
Gates McFadden
Deinse Crosby
Wil Weaton
John de Lancie - was the surprise guest today!

From Star Trek: Voyager
Garrett Wang

From Buck Rogers and Silver Spoons:
Erin Gray - still looks great after all these years!

Lance Henricksen
David Prowse
Robert Englund

WWE wrestlers:
Jake the Snake Roberts
The Honky Tonk Man
"Hacksaw" Jim Duggan
Million Dollar Man - Ted DiBiase

I got autographs from pretty much everybody except the wrestlers as I was running out of money. Don't even ask how much I spent on autographs. I don't even want to know or it will ruin my weekend.

There were a bunch of others there like Stan Lee, but line-ups were huge for these guys.

And all three deserve far more credit than they get.
