Alice in Wonderland (animated) platinum edition?
The Animated Classics page at ultimatedisney.com says "New 2-Disc Edition (reportedly Platinum) expected in near future". When is near future? 2009? 2010? Anyone know?

I agree with Linguini and Ajmrowland's prediction of Walt Disney's Alice In Wonderland arrivin on the shelf round the dvd/blu release of Tim Burton's Alice....
then again I recall that round the theatrical release of Horton Hears A Who! Warner Bros released the animated verison to dvd while the cgi Horton played in theathers.
Wouldn't mind seein Walt Disney's Alice In Wonderland bein placed in the Diamond/Platinum line along with the others. Course I'm pleased with its previous dvd release yet wouldn't mind an pic/sound/bonus feat. upgrade though and maybe bonus feat on the author would be a good boost too. Might see that documentary on Tim Burton's Alice Dvd though (who knows)

There is no Platinum edition line anymore. It's been replaced by the "Diamond" line, and there hasn't been a formal announcement of just what this line is or what films are included. All bets are off at this point, they could release 3 or 4 Diamond films in a year, especially since we don't even know what the Diamond films are (though we can guess).
The Five Golden Age films...(Snow White, Pinocchio, Fantasia, Dumbo, Bambi)
The Post-War Classics (Cinderella, Alice in Wonderland, Peter Pan, Lady and the Tramp, Sleeping Beauty)
The Well-Received Xerox films (101 Dalmatians, The Jungle Book)
The Second Renaissance, with the infuriating exclusion of Rescuers Down Under (Little Mermaid, Beauty and the Beast, Aladdin, The Lion King)
Throw in some other films from the 90's - (Tarzan, Fantasia 2000)
That leaves the rest on semi-permanent re-issue, free to release whenever the studio pleases.

If the new Alice in Wonderland comes out in theaters in March - it should be on DVD/Blu-ray no later than August or September. Disney would be mad to NOT relase the old Alice on Diamond Edition simultaneously.
They must either delay the DVD/Blu-Ray release of the new Alice, replace BatB with Alice Diamond Edition, or add a third Diamond Edition release for 2010.
What makes logical sense is that the old Alice in Wonderland will be released to Blu-ray without being part of the Diamond collection.

Would anyone complain if they just reissued the most recent 2 disc "masterpiece" edition with the new Tim Burton movie. Takes no effort on Disney's part, and would keep me a happy camper.
But, this title is a perfect example of why I hate that stupid vault! Do they really think that everyone's gonna go "OMG! I need to buy it now, cause a few years from now I might want to watch it". There's been a few titles lately that I've been wanting to watch from Disney, and I would gladly pay a bit of a premium to buy it on DVD, but nope, can't even find a copy at the local used DVD stores around here. Sorry for the rant, wrong thread (I know), but the subject of Alice in Wonderland just starts me going on how stupid the vault really is.

Your statement just goes to show that the vault DOES work and makes you go "OMG!" even louder and makes you want the title even more when it does come out.MrIncredible wrote:But, this title is a perfect example of why I hate that stupid vault! People seem to be forgetting that Disney loves their anniversaries. Alice in Wonderland will turn 60 summer of 2011. Considering we only know what's happening until 2010, it seems likely that Alice will be released March of 2011. The Brazilian powerpoint slide that started all of this even shows that. Obviously that means the Burton one will have been out on DVD and Blu-ray for a while, but considering how early Disney advertises their Platinums/Diamonds, it seems logical that there'd be a trailer for the animated Alice on the Burton Alice disc.
Oh, and I will be ticked if the Alice BD is a carbon copy of the Masterpiece Edition DVD. I want ALL of the laserdisc bonus features ported over along with a commentary track and restrospective documentary. Come on, Disney. It can't be THAT hard to do.

but didn't they release some of their anniversary editions in the wrong year lately ? Not 100% sure, but i think not everytime was the date of the release the same as the anniversary. Or it's just because in some countries they launch it later.Disneykid wrote:People seem to be forgetting that Disney loves their anniversaries. Alice in Wonderland will turn 60 summer of 2011. I agree with you on havin a audio commentary for Alice In Wonderland along with havin a retrospective documentary too.... Would you happen to know what are the bonus feat from the Laserdisc DisneyKid?Disneykid wrote: I want ALL of the laserdisc bonus features ported over along with a commentary track and restrospective documentary. Since I've posted the list so many times before, I'll just link to this thread which has the complete list color coded and with my ranting to cap it off.

Ok thanks for helpin me DisneyKid.
The History Of Alice In Wonderland sounds very captivatin hope they add this to the Diamond Edition. Would've loved to see the 2 alternate Alice ( '39/43)
Think most of the stuff you listed DisneyKid could possible make it on not only the diamond edition but maybe show up on a 4 disc set ???
