I pooled in some money to buy stuff for the roomies. I'm the "DVD" Guy, so I got some Ghost Whisperer and Criminal Minds for the female roomie, and Nash Bridges, Burn Notice, and the new Indiana Jones flick for the male roomie. As for my family who live awhile away - I picked up a hammer, an Xplod boombox, some Futurama "volume"s ($20.00 a piece at WalMart), the 4th "season" of Inu Yasha, and I spent like 2 days making my version of an Ultimate Beatles Collection. I don't have the original version of Wings'/Paul McCartney's "Maybe I'm Amazed" anywhere on CD, but the roomies have all the original Beatles albums and the "Naked" version of Let it Be, so I made 5 burnable CDs based off of that. It was fun, I kinda gained an all-new appreciation of the Beatles that I never had before. I also now can figure out most of the Powerpuff Girls' episode: "Meet the Beat Alls."

Nephews: two small handheld videogames (with one inbuilt game each) called Sea Wars and Piranhaman, as well as two mini Meccano sets.
Secret Cindy Lou Who (PixarFan2006): Kung Fu Panda DVD and ??? (second gift not yet delivered)

This was one expensive Christmas! I've spent at least 215 Euros! But I feel satisfied because my gifts were really liked! :)

Hehe! :D This Richard Ellis was a British (I think ...) photographer. The book I bought my father is full of really old photographs of various places in Malta taken by him. I think the photos were redevoloped from the original glass plates, which accounts for their magnificent quality.

The above joke will be sooooo lame if CJ actually did buy her dad a real, full-size 1966 Mustang.

This year, thanks to both the economy and to the fact that all of us had grown tired of giving cash or regifting something from someone else, our extended family did a Secret Santa. On Thanksgiving, we all made two lists of 3 items under $20, and put them in two different hats. Then, we drew one list from each hat, and those were our Secret Cindy Lou Who's. If we drew anyone from the immediate family (i.e. a parent, a sibling, or ourself), we'd have to draw again. After we drew our SCLW's, we all had the option of one trade, in case we didn't want to shop for a particular family member. :P Anyway, I ended up getting my younger cousin Annalise, and my aunt & uncle (all the parents were paired together on the slips, rather than individual slips for each aunt and uncle). For my cousin, I got her the Step Up 2 CD, a Cullen family coat of arms (which she can sew onto a jacket or backpack), a "Dumbledore's Army" necklace, and a DVD-R I made of all the Lauren Cooper sketches from "The Catherine Tate Show. For my aunt & uncle, I got them a red holiday gift basket with two candles and a stuffed animal from Yankee Candle Co.

In addition to our Secret Santa, we also did a White Elephant Christmas Exchange, and I contributed a DVD of Korean Drama Classics (it had the first episodes of "Stairway to Heaven," "My Lovely Sam Soon," and "Jumong"), as K-dramas are an inside joke/awesome thing to watch in our family (I still have yet to finish "Winter Sonata", though!).

And after all that, there were general presents I got for immediate family. For our dad, Kram, Jane, and I split the cost of a new pea coat he had wanted but never outright said, as well as a beanie cap for his bald head. For our mom, we got Mamma Mia! The Movie (single-disc, she doesn't care for bonus features), a new belt, and a pair of gloves she had been looking for in a certain shade of pink and could never find. I got Kram the standard hardcover for The Tales of Beetle the Bard as well as the Disney DVD "Classic Cartoon Favorites, Volume 8 - Holiday Celebration With Mickey & Pals". And Jane is now the proud owner of Twilight in paperback and the latest Fall Out Boy CD, "Folie à Deux".

For the elementary school teachers and principal I interviewed for a research paper (which eventually turned into an independent video documentary I ended up showing to my college class), I gave them all holiday-themed thank-you cards and a DVD-R of the documentary. For the kids in the elementary school class I have been observing since September, I got them some snacks for their holiday party, as well as little trinkets that I actually forgot to bring in so I'll give it to them when they come back from Christmas break.

I forgot to list what I got for my Angel Tree Kid. I got a 5 or 6 year old boy a ball & bat set, a soccer ball & net set, and a sleeping bag/flashlight/Thermos set.

Well this year I gave to more people than normal so my wallet hurt but my heart felt good. :)

Mother: Fab Finger Food cook book, Drink Pitcher, Golf Putter's Pool Game (some kind of cross between mini golf and pool that she wanted. :P)

Father: Going My Way/Holiday Inn Double feature DVD, A Classic Christmas With The Ed Sullivan Show DVD, A new Belt, The Best of Louis Armstrong & Friends- The Christmas Collection: 20th Century Masters CD, The Best of Motown Christmas Vol. 2 -The Christmas Collection: 20th Century Masters CD, Christmas With Johnny Cash CD

Sister: The OC: Season One DVD, Gilmore Girls TV Premiere DVD, What Happens In Vegas DVD, Curly Sue DVD, The Christmas Toy DVD, and a box of silly little things... A small amount of Chocolate Turtles, a Disney Princess mini tin lunch box, Sleeping Beauty pin, stationary, flashlight, etc. (This SOOOO does not count but since I got the 42 disc Bond set and purchased the super big ET boxed set I gave my sister my old copies of Casino Royale and ET. *Shrugs*)

Sister's Boyfriend: $25 Mall Gift Card

The winner of The Pickle gift: (Some tradition we picked up about 6 or 7 years ago from A Christmas store. In the German tradition Legend says that the pickle, a symbol of good luck, was the last ornament to be placed on the tree. The first child to find the pickle on Christmas morning was rewarded with an extra gift left by Santa. We don't seem to apprechaite our tree so much as get silly and frantic. My mother and sister were shoving eachother about this year looking for it! :P Also the version we got told us that whoever wins each year must buy the next years gift so it's a wee bit different from that other explanation I found online) This year's Winner, my 26 Year old sister, got a $25 mall gift card, a small box of Jelly Belly Jelly Beans, and a bag of Tootsie Roll Midgets.

Grandpa #1: The Pink Panther DVD

Grandpa #2: The Party DVD

Cousin: Iron Man DVD

Friend #1: $10 Mall gift card and a few packs of Hubba Bubba Bubble Gum

Friend #2: $15 Starbucks Gift Card and a small amount of Snowballs (candy counted malted milk balls)

Friend #3: TMNT DVD, a PD DVD of old horror flicks, Elvis Ornament

Friend #4: Indiana Jones (Raiders) Action Figure & The Adventures of Batman & Robin - The Joker/Fire and Ice DVD

Friend #5: U-Repair Wall-E Action Figure and Wall-E Picture lollipops.

Friend #6: 2-pack of some kind of Transformers (I sort of can't remember what kind) and a lollipop that had a Optimus Prime Key chain for a head.

Friend #7: The Batman/Superman Movie DVD and The Bro Code By 'Barney Stinson of "How I Met Your Mother" with' Matt Kuhn (Oddly enough the girl who I got The Bro Code for got it for me. :P We laughed a lot about that.)
