The "Help Dave decide what he wants for Christmas"

Post by DaveWadding »

Okay here's my situation...

Every Christmas, birthday whatever my grandma likes to spend ~$50 on my gift...this year I have a couple options that I basically can't choose between, so that's why there's this topic with a poll. Please vote.

Well I can't stand 24 so that coupled with the fact that this is a Disney forum after all means, I think you should go for Narnia! :p

I went for 24 because even though I never watched it I heard reaaaaaally good comments about it. Plus you get more viewing time with 2 seasons of 24!

I'd go with the Narnia Gift Set. It's pricey, but easy to justify as a Gift (hence the name Gift Set), whereas the two sets of "24" won't look as cool on your shelf and will only lead to you needing to get the rest (then again, if all the Narnia movies come with Gift Sets, maybe you're starting a trend there too).

Ditto.
It used to be so good. Then it just went bad. =/

My vote goes for Narnia - 4 Disc Edition.

This is a tough one. I'm not a big fan of 24 but I do see and understand the attraction and it is the better deal for viewing hours of entertainment. However, the Narnia set is kind of "special" and a limited edition issue type of gift and makes more sense as a Christmas present. 24 will be on TV and the box sets will be available for years to come but the Narnia sets will likely be gone six months from now. So...I voted Narnia.

I'd say the Narnia Gift Set. I have not seen Narnia all the way through nor have I seen 24.

You didn't say how many seasons you already have of "24" Dave, so if you already have Seasons One and Two, and I know the others are on sale, then I would say get Three and Four.

If you are just starting out with your collection of "24" (and I won't ask why you waited so long), then I would wait. As said before they will always be available, whereas "Narnia" 4-disc gift set, is just that, a gift set. It will probably get taken away from us within six months.

I have season 1 (been waiting for them to get cheaper) so I was gonna buy 2 for myself and let my grandma get 3 & 4 for Christmas.

24, dude. Narnia, like King Kong, did not need anything added to it. They were already long enough. Actually, though, KK was half an hour too long, but meh.

So yeah, 24 definitely.

Save up your money on the 24 buy - I think at the end of that show's run (very quickly after), they'll do what they did for Buffy - HUMONGOUS boxset with a brand new bonus disc. And of course, the show sucks, so avoid buying it at all if possible.

I say: Narnia all the way. Compared to this show, it's a no-brainer.

I said Narnia. I don't know how or when I'll get that Narnia set, but I'll be surprised if the price ever goes down on it. While, with TV shows, particularly popular ones, they usually turn up at 14.88, or so every now and then if you watch the ads for Target, Best Buy, and Wal-Mart. I waited a long time to get more seasons of Smallville, but they recently put them all at 14.88 one week (except the latest), and I told everyone that that is what I wanted for Christmas, and so I have 3 people each getting me a different set, which will bring me up to season 4! Finally, I'll have more than the first set of something! I still only have the first set of Buffy, and now that they are going slim case with everyone, I will have a hard time if I want to get the rest of the show in the matching sets. My little sis barely managed to get all of X-Files in the old style collectors cases (She JUST completed her collection, but it was HARD to find the non-slim-case ones brand new!). Anyways, my point is, go with the big Narnia set and watch the weekly ads for 24 to be 14 or 19.99 sometime.

I said Narnia for a few reasons:

1.) Although I have never seen either (Narnia or 24 [I'm not really into action shows]), Narnia is available for a Limited Time Only. I read a few weeks ago that the 4-Disc SE of Narnia will be going out of print on January 31, 2007. Yes, you heard me right.

2.) 24 will always be available. And on sale. I bet after Christmas, you will be seeing 24's box sets on sale for $14.88 at WalMart and/or Target.
