It seems that Anna might be a princess after all:

June 14, 2012
Dax Shepard: But tell him about the project you’re doing.

Kristen Bell: What am I doing?

Dax Shepard: You’re a princess.

Kristen Bell: (Kristen smiles.) Oh…

Dax Shepard: A princess who sings.

(Kristen’s smile grows wider.)

Kristen Bell: But I don’t know if I can say it.

Dax Shepard: She’s a Disney princess–

Q: Are you talking about Frozen?

Kristen Bell: Oh, I can say it! Yeah, they announced it! Sorry, I got nervous because sometimes I say things in interviews that I didn’t know weren’t okay. Long story short–

Dax Shepard: Heaven forbid they get some additional publicity!

Q: (Laughs) They would hate that!

Kristen Bell: But Frozen is really fun for me because it has far and away been my number one dream that I used to put in my diary. I wanted to be a Disney princess. I have audio tapes of me singing to The Little Mermaid, just in case I needed them in the future.

Q: (Laughs) Right.

Kristen Bell: So to be doing Frozen is quite literally my dream come true.

Q: I am sure it will be well received.

Kristen Bell: It’s so much fun!

I am seeing a pattern here for the trend of recent Disney Princess movie voice actors. Most of them seem to be fans of past Disney Princesses.Maybe in the future a Disney Princess voice actor will grow up loving Rapunzel and Tiana and want to become a vioce actor for a character. :D

I don't care what feminists say about Disney Princesses because they have made my girlhood rock.Wether its the traditional women from Walt Disney's era or the more action oriented likes of Mulan or Merida.I just know Disney will always keep girls remembering the princesses that have grown up in our childhood.

Anyone remember the "Disney Heroes"? It had: Prince Phillip, Peter Pan, Robin Hood & Tarzan. Ive seen some toys & cloths based on them a while back. And if Anna is a princess, then how will the Snow Queen be presented? And what about Kristoff? A mountain man?

Hi Sotiris. I just wonder, I know that I'm OT, but are you a fan of Hercules? Considering your profile picture.

That would be great if Anna is/becomes a Disney Princess, maybe she's mistaken b/c I don't see how Anna is going to be a princess. And also, any heroine can be mistaken as a Disney princess, like Anna and Merida

Aren't we starting to reach the point where there are too many Disney princesses...? :/

@Disney's Divinity-Yeah, I think that's one of the reasons why Merida isn't being added in. B/c Disney wants a break from adding more princesses.

I'd say we might but then again the audience probably doesn't care that much as well. However,I think Disney needs to go around the world and find new fairy tales to animate. One thing I think they should do is have a fairy tale based in Japan.I mean come on Japan probably has just been waiting for Disney to make a movie based on the country.

Or make a movie based in Africa again this time with human characters.

I'm all for Disney princesses. Really - they're usually my favorite Disney films. But changing the story in order to make her a Disney princess is irritating to me. I'd like to know who's decision it was to do so - the filmmakers or the execs saying "we need another princess."

Maybe Anna will be a normal girl who will become a princess at the end, just like many others before....Think of it, if there's a good Snowqueen, maybe Anna will take here crown or maybe even a daughter or something

Sorry to nitpick, but Merida is actually a princess. A more relevant example would be Mulan. Or Jane from Tarzan, for example.

Judging by the summary, the film seems to have practically nothing in common with the tale, other than the (supposedly) Nordic setting and the character of Snow Queen, who may or may not be the Snow Queen. The whole princess-aspect is practically trivial considering the whole film will be basically Snow Queen in name only, and not even that what with the title change and all.

I thought you'd already know the answer to that ;).

I don't know interviews aren't always accurate. From the sound of it I don't think that Anna is a princess but the voice actress for Anna seems to think she will become a Disney Princess because of the fact that she would appeal to the Disney Princess crowd.Hey,Disney has added non princesses to the line as well.I mean Mulan is a notable addition and at heart I think she fits into the line.Maybe that is what Anna is going to be a normal girl who becomes apart of the Disney Princess line even though she doesn't marry into royalty or a princess by birth.

I think so too. Any Disney heroine is often mistaken as a princess. So, I'm still waiting for something more official that will confirm Anna to be a princess.

Yes, but Merida IS a princess because, obviously, she's the daughter of the king and queen.

But then why would you not get upset at Disney changing Rapunzel's story so much for Tangled?
