So does this one: (okay, it says half of what yours says...)avonleastories95 wrote:The title says it all.
Famous Movies You've Never Seen

The ones not crossed out are the ones I haven't seen (corrected the titles on some too). Hmm, not too shabby.avonleastories95 wrote: <strike> Gone With The Wind

Give him time, Bill. He's only 15. It's not a race.Bill wrote:My question is WHY? Why haven't you seen any of these? All of them are available on DVD and most of them get shown on television on a semi-regular basis.

Shouldn't it be "would like to see"?
Anyway, here's a few films that I've never seen for whatever reason but want to see:
Singin' in the Rain (1952)
Psycho (1960)
Dr Strangelove (1964)
Les Demoiselles de Rochefort (1967)
Star Wars (1977)
Amadeus (1984)
Pulp Fiction (1994)
Kiki's Delivery Service (1989)
Inglorious Basterds (2009)

- Oliver Stone's documentary South of the Border (2009): I've dying to see this movie since I first heard of it, but it hasn't been released in Europe yet (except for the Cannes film festival). It didn't even have an American release until summer 2010.
In this film, Stone visits seven democratically elected presidents in six Latin-American countries as he tries to balance the demonizing and distorted picture US corporate media paints of them (presidents Correa in Ecuador, Morales in Bolivia, Lula da Silva in Brazil, Chavez in Venezuela, Lugo in Paraguay and the Kirchners in Argentina).
- Masked and Anonymous (2003): a supposedly very bad film, but it was written by Bob Dylan, and he also plays the leading role, alongside big names in acting, such as Jeff Bridges, John Goodman and the gorgeous Penelope Cruz. It also features a lot of Dylan's songs. So of course I want to see this film --very badly!
- most of the films I listed in the thread Albert has linked to: From here to eternity; Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid etc.
- other films I haven't seen, like Pat Garrett and Billy the Kid. Not Peckinpah's best film, but Dylan arranged the soundtrack and he plays a minor part in it.

Now why would you do that? While it's the weakest film of the trilogy, it's still *only* the weakest in a trilogy that is superb. It's like having a report-card with A's on every subject except History, for which you got a B and then say you're bad at History.PixarFan2006 wrote:The Godfather Parts I and II (think I'll avoid the third film though)
Part III was made, 16 years after the sequel, because Michael Corleone's story still wasn't finished. The last installment adds another, new layer to the character. Some have found the film's 'message' to be a bit too explicit or moralizing, but there's the excellent performance of Andy Garcia to balance that out; and I find this new side of Michael, who's trying to get out of the mob but keeps getting pulled back in, to be intruiging. Oh, and Sofia Coppola is not bad in it. She's kinda cute, actually.

Note to Goliath:
Regarding "The Godfather" Trilogy.
I also will not watch "The Godfather III" because the only way I watch the Godfather movies is on the VHS that I duped to DVD-R "The Complete Godfather Anthology", which runs everything chronologically beginning with the Robert De Niro part and continuing through the more viable conclusion of "Godfather II".
Watching this movie chronologically makes more sense because of all the added footage, and the story doesn't jump back and forth in time to tell the 'complete' story.
Now if Paramount would incorporate "Godfather III" in the Anthology I would probably enjoy it more. I have watched the third installment and it just doesn't seem to fit in with the other two. I think too many years went past before the third one was made.

I'm sorry, but I don't think the Godfather series was meant to be seen chronologically, and those deleted scenes were cut for a reason. The Blu-ray is an absolute sight to behold.dvdjunkie wrote:Note to Goliath:

Also, I believe that The Godfather Part III has no flashbacks, so you can just play it after the rest.

I'm familiar with that version, but I can't understand how anybody could enjoy it. It's completely opposite to Coppola's intention. The strenght of the sequel *was* to jump back and forth in time, to compare the rise of a young Vito with the growth of Michael as the new Don. This, what makes and defines the sequel, all disappears when you watch everything 'in chronological order'. It also takes away from the events in the first part, where the audience is supposed not to know hot Vito came to be so powerful.dvdjunkie wrote:I also will not watch "The Godfather III" because the only way I watch the Godfather movies is on the VHS that I duped to DVD-R "The Complete Godfather Anthology", which runs everything chronologically beginning with the Robert De Niro part and continuing through the more viable conclusion of "Godfather II". Obviously everybody has different tastes, but that 'chronological order' thing seems lazy and cheap to me. And while it may have your preference, it does not 'make more sense'. It's a violation of the original films and an attack on their integrity.
