Twitches- Bewitched Edition DVD- September 5th 2006
Hi, news on the front page about a new DVD release for this DCOM, which I really enjoyed. Here's the news-
Padding out Disney's Halloween slate and continuing the "clever" trend of uniquely-named editions, Buena Vista Home Entertainment has scheduled a September 5th "Betwitched Edition" DVD release for the 2005 made-for-TV thrill-omedy Twitches, according to Amazon.com. The Disney Channel Original Movie stars "Sister Sister" twins Tia and Tamera Mowry as separated-at-birth twins (talk about typecasting!) who happen to be witches. While Disney has yet to release any information, you can expect a 1.33:1 fullscreen, Dolby Digital 5.1 feature presentation with extras to be announced. The list price of $19.99 suggests that the studio will return to this price point for DCOMs after their current flirtation with the $26.99 price tag.
So happy about this, I really wanted this to be released for Halloween this year. I was also hoping for The Scream Team, but I guess I'll have to wait until they start releasing classic DCOMs on sets ala Walt Disney Treasures sets. I hope that they include a music video, some bloopers, behind the scenes and hopefully (crossed fingers) an audio commentary with Tia and Tamara. That would be so cool, but alas it probably won't happen. I really enjoyed this movie. Maybe it's because I'm actually a twin that I enjoyed it so much. Better than your average DCOM, I think. Much better than Cadet Kelly or Halloweentown, even. Two thumbs up to Disney for this.

I hate to say that I never saw it. My sister has seen it 50 times. I do wish that some of the older movies would be released but any step is still a step. Hopefully we will see more DVD releases after Disney sees that numbers after HSM, and now Twitches. I do hate the cover art though........
BRING ON UNDER WRAPS, MOM HAS A DATE WITH A VAMPIRE, AND OTHER HALLOWEEN DCOMs!!!!!
p.s Wendy Wu: Homecoming Warrior looks great, I cant wait till it premiers!

No actually, the girl from Smart Guy was Essence Atkins. But ironically enough, the kid from Smart Guy (Tahj Mowry) is Tia and Tamera Mowry's little brother!Robin Hood wrote:Welcome back, James!![]()
I haven't seen this movie yet, but isn't that girl on the front from Smart Guy. It sure looks like her.

I was about to say the same thing! It looks photoshopped as if they pasted Tia and Tamera's heads on some other girls' bodies.SofaKing381222 wrote:I do hate the cover art though........
I haven't seen this one either and I only saw one advertisement. I guess being away at school with NO Disney Channel makes one miss things like this. I had no idea it did so well, only second to HSM.
As you've all noticed, more news on this release has arrived on the front page-Genuine high-resolution cover art has been added for Twitches. The second highest-rated "DCOM" of the past four years (trailing only High School Musical), Twitches will arrive on DVD on September 5th, equipped with a behind-the-scenes featurette, an exclusive alternate ending, and an interactive game. Cover Art
I like the sound of the behind-the-scenes featurette. I really hope that it's the one that I caught on the Disney Channel earlier in the year. I think that it was a DCOM Extra, or Behind the Ears (not sure if you Americans have it- I think it's exactly like DCOM Extras, only renamed). The alternate endig sounds interesting, and I guess that the game should be all right. But I was sooooooooooo hoping for an audio commentary! I knew we wouldn't get, but I guess that Disney's target audience is tweens. It's not like they would want something like that. Looks like we got our wish of audio commentaries on past DCOM releases-Cadet Kelly. Not that they didn't deserve, I just would rather see an audio commentary on this. It's better than most people think. Great acting from Tia and Tamara.
Hopefully we'll get more DCOMs on DVD soon, I'd love a set like Walt Disney Treasures, as I've mentioned before. It's the next step Disney needs to take, apart from releasing more Disney Channel TV shows, and more animated shows on season sets. I'd love to see Recess on DVD one day.
On other topics, thanks for the hearty welcome Robin Hood! It's not really like I've been gone or anything, I just haven't had as much time as I would've liked to post here. See you guys later!

I didn't see this either, but as a general rule, I like Halloween DCOMs, so I'm looking forward to it. Tia and Tamera can kind of sway between likable and annoying, so we'll see how that goes. Still, I'd much rather see Mr. Boogedy, Don't Look Under the Bed, or Mom's Got a Date With a Vampire come to DVD.

Hope so.James wrote:Luke, will a fact sheet appear for this soon?
I wouldn't report it if it wasn't official. (As was the "Even Stevens" featurette, though that was dropped, understandable due to the always-present, rarely-invoked "Bonus features subject to change" clause.)James wrote:I just want an official sign that a behind the scenes feature will appear on the DVD.
Nevertheless, I hope this will do:

What's a "mr. Boogedy" Never heard of that.AwallaceUNC wrote: Still, I'd much rather see Mr. Boogedy, Don't Look Under the Bed, or Mom's Got a Date With a Vampire come to DVD.
Its been a while since I've seen "Dont Look Under the Bed", but I remember loving it, and I love "Mom's Got A Date" so I really hope they are released on DVD.
A 1986 TV movie (well, running in an hour-long slot, it barely qualifies as a movie) which everyone who saw it as a child seems to remember. It's definitely one of the 5 Disney movies I get the most e-mail about. It spawned a sequel ("Bride of Boogedy") which was released to VHS, but it never has been. Needless to say, those with copies have profited on eBay.SofaKing381222 wrote:What's a "mr. Boogedy" Never heard of that.

I can't believe that Twitches, if what the little picture says is true, will have better extras than Halloweentown. I'm sure it was a great movie, but I thought that Halloweentown was more popular. All Halloweentown had in the way of extras was a way too brief short about the makeup of just a couple characters from the third movie, practically leaving out the previous two films. But Twitches gets a behind the scenes featurette, alternate ending, and a game ? I might be wrong, but is Twitches really that much more popular than Halloweentown that it gets better extras ? I thought until High School Musical, that Halloweentown and Zenon were two of the highest rated movies on Disney channel....right ? And why is Twitches coming out before Zenon ?
Think about this. Once bread becomes toast, you can't make it back into bread.
You're right, Halloweentown is far more popular than Twitches, but since they've released that trilogy, they're releasing Twitches, so that people will purchase it for Halloween. And, yes, I think we'd all like to see Zenon released soon, but I think that Disney's waiting for a time to release it, when Kirsten Storm makes a high-profile movie, or something of the like.Spottedfeather wrote: I might be wrong, but is Twitches really that much more popular than Halloweentown that it gets better extras ? Thanks for the review Aaron! I don't think that I will buy this movie. I think that I would rather watch it once every Halloween, but I don't think I could stand it being in my room. HORRIBLE effects. They should fire whoever did the effects.
