THE NEW COMEDY CLASSIC ARRIVES ON DISNEY DVD AUGUST 1st

Walt Disney Pictures Presents
THE SHAGGY DOG

TIM ALLEN STARS AS THE FAMILY DAD... AND DOG!

Includes Disney’s First-Ever “Bark-Along Bone-Us Feature” For Dogs, Hilarious Deleted Scenes, Bloopers

BURBANK, Calif., May 5, 2006 – Walt Disney Home Entertainment presents The Shaggy Dog, the fresh,
funny update of one of Disney’s most beloved family comedy classics, on DVD August 1st. Starring the ever-
popular Tim Allen (“The Santa Clause,” TV’s “Home Improvement”), The Shaggy Dog follows the hysterically
hairy adventures of Deputy D.A. Dave Douglas (Allen), a workaholic trial lawyer and sometimes distant dad,
who by a strange accident turns into a big shaggy dog. The fur flies as Dave comically tries to adjust to a
whole new way of looking at the world, and discovers how much a family really means to him.

The “Bark Along Bone-Us Feature” is a Disney first: some for the family dog to enjoy as well as the family.
This special feature combines fun dog-themed footage with two audio track options: for the canines in the
family to enjoy, there is a “barking and woofing” audio track, and for the humans in the family, an alternate
audio track that features a new version of the song “Woof There It Is” with new lyrics created especially for The
Shaggy Dog. Bonus features also include: deleted scenes; bloopers and outtake goof-ups from the set; and
director/producer feature audio commentary.

The Shaggy Dog features a doggone great cast with Tim Allen, Kristin Davis (TV’s “Sex In The City”), Zena
Grey (“In Good Company”), Spencer Breslin (“Raising Helen”), Robert Downey Jr. (“Good Night And Good
Luck”), and Coal, the film’s adorable Bearded Collie.

The Shaggy Dog will be available for $29.99 (SRP). Fullscreen and widescreen versions are included on the
same DVD disc.

Tim Allen gains a whole new point of view on becoming a great dad when he’s accidentally transformed into a
great big dog in The Shaggy Dog, the deliriously funny update of the Disney family comedy classic.
Workaholic D.A. Dave Douglas (Allen) takes on his latest legal case, involving a criminal animal laboratory. It’s
yet another assignment that takes him away from his wife (Kristin Davis) and kids (Zena Grey and Spencer
Davis), who yearn for his attention.

The adventure begins when Dave morphs into the body of the family’s new pet Bearded Collie, and becomes
‘the shaggy dog.’ With perked-up ears and a front row seat on the family carpet, Dave is able to gain an
entirely different perspective into his family’s secrets and dreams. Inspired by what he discovers, Dave wants
nothing more than to become man’s – and his family’s – best friend.

Screenplay by The Wibberleys and Geoff Rodkey and Jack Amiel & Michael Begler. Produced by David
Hoberman and Tim Allen. Directed by Brian Robbins.

This DVD is enhanced with Disney’s FastPlay, an exclusive easy start-up feature from Walt Disney Home
Entertainment. With Disney’s FastPlay, viewers can let the DVD play automatically. This family-friendly,
patent-pending technology plays the movie and includes a selection of bonus footage without any additional
viewing navigation. Or, viewers can choose to navigate through a simplified menu using their remote control.

Disney’s FastPlay includes the exclusive EasyFind menu system, available only on Disney DVDs. EasyFind
menus provide consistent categories and graphic icons for easy identification of bonus material features.

Great Review Luke but this movie needs a miracle to be number one on DVD's sale charts.
Not sure if The Shaggy Dog will sell well since it hasn't made the Amazon Top 100. Maybe it will have bigger sales at Best Buy, Circuit City or Wal-Mart. I know that Fry's Electronic in California will have it for $12.99 so that will be my price match mark at BB. We all love surprises and I’ll be surprised if The Shaggy Dog beats V is for Vendetta this week.

I wouldn't be surprised, I'd be downright shocked, and somewhat appalled. The movie is cute, and has some funny bits, but Vendetta in my mind is a future classic and I wish it great sales on DVD.

I would buy another 10 copies of the original "Shaggy Dog" before I even think of this piece of crap being in my collection. They wasted a talented cast and a lot of money, and anyone who thinks that this new version of the classic film is good, needs their heads put back on straight.

This movie was good enough for Disney to colorize the original......so why not put the original out in the theaters instead of this 'toilet-humor', gross-out film that made fun of a lot of things that were not supposed to be made fun of. I think Disney should have a big flop with this one to be made to wake up and smell the coffee. Remakes suck, and this one is the worst.

Regardless of whether it sucks or not, maybe last week's UK DVD sales charts will give a hint at its US performance

http://www.ultimatedisney.com/forum/vie ... 369#252369

I thought that after this only made a total gross of about £4.60 at the UK box office, it wouldn't even chart. How wrong was I!

oh dear!

Who gives a rats arse about how much money it made. That doesn't mean that it is a good movie, it just means there are a lot of stupid people who either don't know that it is a remake and they have never seen the original or they drop their unsuspecting kids off at the 'cheap babysitter' called a movie theater.

How can we tell how much of this income was generated by cheap parents who just needed a babysitter for two hours and dropped the kids off at the movie theater with $10 bucks for lunch and then left. (Don't say that doesn't happen, because I have been a theater manager a lot longer than some of you have been alive, and I saw it every day. People think that they can just drop the kid off and leave and come back two hours later and everything is okay, and the patrons and employees are left to handle these unruly kids.)

"The Shaggy Dog" was a poor remake, they didn't even try to follow the original story which was quite funny without all the toilet humor, and beating up old ladies, and making fun of disabled people. Walt Disney is probably screaming in heaven about this piece of dirt that they call a movie.

Well what DO you know! The mighty dvdjunkie has made a spelling mistake! "C'mon, show some intelligence here". To the blackboard we go: 100 times - "I will not mis-spell Disabled!" :P Sorry I could not miss this opportunity and I sometimes hold a little grudge.

Well I watched it tonight and I kind of liked it, it had some very funny parts, and the story was not the same as the original.

I rate it 3/5
