Kevin Williamson, who launched his career by putting his spin on the horror genre with the hit Scream franchise, is now giving classic fairytales a dark treatment with psychological thriller Tell Me a Story. In a very competitive situation, with multiple streaming platforms pursuing, CBS All Access, CBS’ SVOD and live-streaming service, has landed the project, from Williamson and Aaron Kaplan’s Kapital Entertainment, with a straight-to-series order.

Written by Williamson, Tell Me a Story is based on a Spanish format. It takes the world’s most beloved fairy tales and reimagines them as a dark and twisted psychological thriller. Set in modern day New York City, the first season of this serialized drama interweaves “The Three Little Pigs,” “Little Red Riding Hood,” and “Jack and the Beanstalk” into an epic and subversive tale of love, loss, greed, revenge and murder. Williamson executive produces with Kapital’s Aaron Kaplan and Dana Honor.

The original series was created by Marcos Osorio Vidal, in collaboration with Gustavo Malajovich and Hernan Goldfrid, and produced by Gonzalo Cilley and Andres Tovar of Resonant. It aired on the Spanish television network Antena Tres.

Billy Magnussen (Game Night) is set for a lead role in CBS All Access’ straight-to-series psychological thriller Tell Me a Story, from Kevin Williamson and Aaron Kaplan’s Kapital Entertainment. In addition, Liz Friedlander (Conviction) has been tapped to direct and executive produce the first two episodes. Magnussen will play Nick, a young high school teacher who’s handsome, seductive, and quite possibly a wolf in sheep’s clothing. After a wild night with a girl he met at a nightclub results in a hookup but no phone numbers swapped, he thinks his chances with her have gone out the window. But when he runs into her again, he’s sure to take advantage of his second chance, proving he’s sensitive, understanding… and, quite possibly, too good to be true.

When her son moves back home, bringing with him a troubled teenager, Kayla, this former chorus girl is going to have to grow up finally and take on the parental duties to protect her family against a very dark and sinister threat.

It will basically be Grimm without magic. I could be interested in it, but can't stand Kim Cattrall, so probably won't watch it.

I would've been interested in this if Dania Ramirez wasn't involved. I know substandard actors have to feed their families and pay bills like everyone, but, sorry, no thanks.

I, on the contrary, will now totally give this a chance. I was being interested due to Williamson involvement, and Campbell and Wesley casting, but now that Dania was cast I'm totally in. I guess I will manage with Cattrall there somehow.
