Really can't wait for the trailer for this one. Will be intriguing to see how they pitch the film, that's for sure.

I have a feeling they'll frame it in a similar way to Snow White and the Huntsman's sequel, focusing on the showdown between Jolie and Pfeiffer. I'm really excited to see this one even if I don't expect it to perform very well. I don't expect quite as steep a drop as between Alice in Wonderland and Alice Through the Looking Glass though, partly because Jolie as Maleficent is still so good and partly because Maleficent didn't go as high as AiW in the first place.

Ideally, I would like it to do decently, so it could get a third one. Two in a series never sits quite right in my head; I always want them to become a trilogy.

From New York Times bestselling author Holly Black comes a captivating original novel set between Disney’s Maleficent and Maleficent: Mistress of Evil, in which newly-queened Aurora struggles to be the best leader to both the humans and Fair Folk under her reign; her beau, Prince Phillip, longs to get to know Aurora and her kingdom better; and Maleficent has trouble letting go of the past.

I like the style they used for the book title.

I'm very surprised we don't have a trailer yet. Aladdin's still 2 weeks away, maybe they will have a trailer ready to be shown with it.

I really love Holly Black's works but that's still not incentive to read the book lol. I did think it was weird that Aurora and Phillip were suddenly engaged so I'm not surprised that this book will feature more context on how they get together. Likely he won't have a big role in the final film either.

The teaser trailer has officially been released. It looks pretty good to be honest, and it's much more visually pleasing than the first one at least.

Very striking! Looks like it’s not repeating the same beats we’ve seen in the last movie, at least in a visual sense. Maybe since it’s not a retelling of Sleeping Beauty anymore, people will be more open to whatever way the story goes.

I liked it as well. It was a good teaser. It was well put together and the music choice was fitting. Maleficent's getup at the end caught me by surprise. Isn't it a bit too revealing and sexy for modern Disney?

Does anybody know who sings the cover of "Season of the Witch" that's featured in the trailer?

The trailer was better than I expected! I like that Maleficent is going to "become evil" again.

I thought Michelle Pfeiffer would come across more intimidating. But this is just a teaser. I liked that they had "Season of the Witch" playing in the background. :P

That visual of the tree turning into creatures and Phillip swinging Aurora around is just gorgeous. But I hate that costume Maleficent wears during "What have you done?".

Doesn't really feel that different from the first film. Aurora's costumes are still lackluster and did they recast Phillip? The only thing I like is the design of the castle.

Ooooo yes ! Wicked trailer ! And an actual teaser rather than the whole film spilled out for all the world to see. I loved the lines;

“If I didn’t know better I’d say you were threatening me...”
“Well do you ?”
“Do I what ?”

.......

“Know better”

Very ready for this. And surprisingly really lovely to see Angelina Jolie back again.

I liked it a lot. More Angelina Jolie as Maleficent. Bring it! And Michelle Pfeiffer was really awesome in the footage. I wonder if they will have Lana del Ray sing another song from the Sleeping Beauty soundtrack for this one.

They did. https://www.cinemablend.com/news/241428 ... irst-movie

The trailer looks exciting. I don't think she is going to be evil in this one, just 'misunderstood' once more.

Of course she isn't going to become evil. The first film already made it clear that’s not the direction they wanted for this version of the character; they decided to go with a Wicked-style retelling. Like it or not, there's no reason to expect that would change for the sequel. Why would it?

:thumb: Jolie as Maleficent was always perfect casting, imo. She lights up the screen.
