Maybe she'll actually be evil in this one then but that's probably just wishful thinking.

I like that subtitle. I actually think that's a smart choice anyway. If the sequel doesn't do well (and it flopping just like Through the Looking Glass is very possible, if not likely), it won't be as weird there will never be a III if there was never a II. :P

But why would they call her "Mistress of All Evil" if she's not evil?!

That probably depends on if the humans outside of Aurora still see her as evil.

Thanks for posting! The comments are all talking about her role in Stardust and I hope she plays something similar since I love when Pfeiffer plays a villain.

On a recent Friday, Alan Horn watched a very early cut of Angelina Jolie's Maleficent 2 in the executive screening room on the sixth floor of the Team Disney Building that was designed by famed architect Michael Graves.

Q: How about “Maleficent 2”? There’s a mysterious blank on IMDb where your character should be named, though rumor has it you’re a possible love interest for Angelina Jolie.

Chiwetel Ejiofor: [Putting on a plummy British accent] I don’t know how much I can say about any of this, really. I actually came to the first “Maleficent” quite late. But I was totally stunned by it and thought it was such an interesting take on the way that we view fairy tales, and how it imprints us with certain thoughts and feelings right from a young age that we carry through subconsciously. I think “Maleficent 2” expands that world in a fascinating way. And I’d worked with Angelina before [in “Salt”] and had a great time. She’s such a remarkable actress and just a force. It was very cool.

Q: How did you get involved with 'Maleficent 2'?

Gielliane Althea: Good ol' auditioning! My agent sent me for an audition with the wonderful Reg Poerscout-Edgerton and his team last April and it was one of the quickest auditions I have ever had, literally in and out! Then we heard nothing for about 3 months so naturally we forgot all about it. Turned out that for a month I was on pencil and my agent very wisely kept this info from me as I may have just gone crazy waiting for the yes or no, eventually he called me to tell me I had been cast and would soon be on my way to Pinewood studios to shoot.

Aside from being named Maleficent: Mistress of Evil, the movie will be released on October 18, 2019.

I remain just as uninterested rotfl

Is there some who's interested in this film? Who asked for this?
In addition I don't even get why Disney crammed yet another film this year.

This came totally out of left field. Do they suspect the film will flop and are trying to burn it off in a year with a lot of expected billion dollar films so their movie division won't take a hit? That's the only explanation I can think of for slotting in yet another film in such a crowded year.

They also changed the subtitle from "Mistress of All Evil" to "Mistress of Evil". I wonder why is that. I'd prefer they hadn't because the former is an exact quotation of how Maleficent refers to herself in the animated film.

Very cool ! I love the new name / subtitle and love the poster.

I am excited for this for sure, as I enjoyed most of the first, until it sunk into a generic CGI battle fest.

Or maybe they wanted it to coincide with the 60th anniversary of Sleeping Beauty...

The 60th Anniversary makes a lot of sense ! That must mean Sleeping Beauty is the Signature Edition this year as well I'm assuming ?

I can't figure out the angle of how her body is in the poster; is that her shoulder to the side ?

The poster is indeed pretty though a bit unoriginal, conceptually speaking. If you just saw the poster without the title you would think it was something made for the first movie.

Doubtful. Disney never cared about celebrating anniversaries on time and they certainly wouldn't base the release of one of their tentopoles on such a thing. Besides, it's not like they didn't know when the anniversary was when they slated it for 2020. This sudden move is suspicious.

Oh I don't know....does everything have to be suspicious or have a hidden motive ?

Things get bumped and swapped all the time ... maybe they realised that the 60th was this year, so they have swapped it to October of this year to coincide ?

Yes it had mixed reviews, but the first one did really well at the box office, do I don't get the drama here really is all I'm saying. :?

I saw the poster on Facebook, and it caught me off-guard. I thought it would be released next year. I'm still excited for it.
