Re: Big Hero 6
From Box Office Mojo:
Big Hero 6 earned $12.7 million in 33 markets this weekend, which brings its international total to $286.6 million. It also crossed $500 million worldwide, making it Disney's fourth 2014 release to reach that milestone. The movie still has France and China on the way, and has a realistic chance of ultimately finishing above $600 million.
But since it didn't make "Frozen" $$$ this is a huge disappointment for WDAS

Have you guys seen this article? http://www.latimes.com/entertainment/mo ... tml#page=2
It's basically just another article to brag about how well things are going at Disney nowadays and the saving of the Revival era.
However, it's nice to see that Conli gets credited for his work on "Hunchback" in this article.

Re: Big Hero 6
Just curious as to how many of you have added "Big Hero 6" to your Vudu account? It has been available for just over two weeks now and will be released on Blu-ray/DVD the 24th of February!!
Added "101 Dalmations" this morning and added the 150 DMR points to the 150 I got from "BH6" and I am closing the gap for spending again on DMR.

From http://deadline.com/2015/02/fifty-shade ... 201374194/
Big Hero 6 was welcomed in France, Belgium and the Netherlands this frame and has only China to go on February 28. As France heads into school holidays, $3.1M worth of auds embraced the heart-warming toon. The UK held well, down 32% for the third No. 2 slot in a row. Germany was down 31% and Japan was off 24%, maintaining the No. 2 slot with a current total of $70.4M there. In Korea, Big Hero 6 fought off three new animated releases to retain the No. 1 spot among cartoons for the 4th consecutive week. Across all markets, Baymax and Hiro earned $9.2M, taking the international above the $300M mark to $301.8M. The global cume on the Disney Animation title is now $521.1M.

"Big Hero 6" is certainly no "Pocahontas" in this case. Perhaps it certainly helped being the follow-up to "Frozen"?

Re: Big Hero 6
OH MY GOSH
And what do animators do for fun and to stave off cabin fever during the long creative process? They mock-up a scene with some joke lurking in the background or mix in some pop-culture cross-pollination to get a laugh from the boss. In an exclusive gag reel that will become available on Disney Movies Anywhere on Feb. 24—the day the film arrives on Blu-ray—co-directors Don Hall and Chris Williams explain how the clip’s many snafus, intentional or not, fit into one of two categories: Computers are Weird or Animators are Silly.

Big Hero 6 added $11M in the overseas frame, taking the international total to $326M and the global box office to $546.23M. While parents were tying one on with Fifty Shades Of Grey, UK kids were on holiday and embracing Big Hero 6. The Disney pic saw a 36% increase there this frame. After 24 days in release, the British cume is $24.8M. France dropped just 19% from its start last weekend, with a cume of $6.9M. In Japan, Big Hero 6 has almost completed its fantastic run, dropping just 29% to register a cume to date of $72.1M. Korea, where Big Hero 6 is the 2nd biggest Disney/Pixar animated release ever, saw a drop of only 9% and now has a total to date of $19.5M. The film has released in all international markets aside from China which bows on February 28 giving it a key slot as the first Hollywood movie in the Middle Kingdom after a flood of local New Year’s pics.

Re: Big Hero 6
Really disappointed that Big Hero 6 won the Oscar. IMO, I thought it was good, nothing spectacular (minus Baymax). This proves that the Academy doesn't take animation seriously and it's the studios name, not the art of the movie in general.
