This is part one of a series of discussions about Disney voice actors and their careers. I’ve been compiling these list for awhile now, and while it’s been fun, there are missing links and information that I couldn’t find out myself. If you know something else to add, or possibly see something that needs to be corrected, please tell me.

Also, part two should feature:
Barbara Luddy
Sterling Holloway
Verna Felton
Adriana Caselotti
Russi Taylor

So, with no further ado, let’s discuss Wayne Allwine!

Definitely the Mickey Mouse I'm most familiar with. Though I did see plenty of the shorts with Walt Disney and Jimmy McDonald behind the voices, I remember when Mickey Mouse Works was my favourite show on the One Saturday Morning block and waking up extra early to watch House of Mouse (during a time when waking up early for Saturday Morning cartoons was actually worth it).

Allwine really embodied Mickey and as great as Walt and Jimmy are, he will always be my favourite.

He was the best voice of Mickey, hands down. It's a shame he didn't live long. And I think it's sweet that he married the voice of Minnie, Russi Taylor, so I guess you can say Mickey did marry Minnie.

Wayne has been the voice of Mickey for my generation. What a shame he passed on too soon.

On an unrelated matter, I have at least two more ideas to feature in part two: Pinto Colvig and Paul Frees.

John Ratzenberger would be another good one, since, you know he's been in every Pixar movie to date.

Who doesn't love Wayne? I haven't listened to any of Bret's, so I can't compare, but I think I'll miss Allwine's Mickey.

Pinto Colvig is a good suggestion, but I wasn't familiar with Paul Frees name until I looked him up, but he has quite an impressive repertorie. I've got at least four more phases (five actors each) planned out, but I can always make more. :P I can't promise how soon the next phase will be, though.

I could be mistaken, but I think Bret Iwan voices Mickey in those little "Have a Laugh" quickies on TV.

I think I saw one of those, but the whole soundtrack was set to Queen's "Another One Bites The Dust".

Yeah, I saw that. It's like a new version of DTV.

Actually, I personally prefer Walt's Mickey to Wayne's, but that's just my opinion.

Well the VoiceActor4Disney guy on YouTube can do a REALLY good impersoantion of both the original and current voices of Mickey, Donald, and Goofy. You know, just incase Bret Iwan doesn't work out.

Anyways, like I said in the Fantasia thread, Disney should comb YouTube in search of a Deems Taylor impersonator, to fill in the missing audio, instead of just re-dubbing the entire movie with their in-house voice actor (Corey Burton). That just seems lazy and disrespectful to throw out the surviving audio.
