Bumped after over a year.
Does anyone remember the movie 'Something Wicked This Way Comes'? Yes, that's a Disney movie and it somehow managed to get away with showing an onscreen decapitation, along with some other shocking stuff.
If SWTWC could get away with that and walk away with a PG rating (if that IS what it's rated), then why couldn't The Black Cauldron do the same uncut?

"Something Wicked" is live action. It's not supposed to sit in line "Dumbo" and "Beauty and the Beast."
Also from the cels, it would seem the henchmen getting dissolved was more graphic (albeit animated) than the fantasy decapitation sequence in "Something Wicked This Way Comes."

Well, I hope it still exists. But even if it does, the only way you could possibly see it is if you were an employee at Disney, or undercover.enigmawing wrote:I've heard it's possible the footage no longer exists.DisneyJedi wrote:If SWTWC could get away with that and walk away with a PG rating (if that IS what it's rated), then why couldn't The Black Cauldron do the same uncut?

Not sure if someone already posted about this, but it seems Black Cauldron is finally coming to blu ray as a Disney Club exclusive...

Here it is:
Re: The Black Cauldron special edition?
Wow, that's excellent news! It's a shame it's a DMC exclusive, though. I hope they make it available internationally too eventually.
Re: The Black Cauldron special edition?
So here is my thing: WILL IT HAVE SPECIAL FEATURES??
I don't think I would be interested otherwise.

I can't believe Valiant is hitting Blu-ray before two Disney classics.

Re: The Black Cauldron special edition?
FINALLY!!!
This gives me new hope that Melody Time and Make Mine Music may eventually make it to Blu-ray as well, though I'm disheartened by the fact that, based on previous release patterns, it's going to take at least another three years, by which time either the Blu-ray market may be gone altogether, or Disney will have quit it for good even if other studios haven't yet thrown in the towel.
Still ... good news is good news! Better to be happy about this than to mope further on the absence of MT and MMM. Perhaps they'll come too, eventually.

Re: The Black Cauldron special edition?
I'm not sure why they don't just release the remaining two and get it over with! They release a lot of live-action titles as DMC exclusives, and the extremely infrequent animated release never seems to crop up.Sotiris wrote:I can't believe Valiant is hitting Blu-ray before two Disney classics.
I don't mind Valiant being released, but yeah ... I'd have preferred MMM or MT to have taken Valiant's slot!
I will definitely be getting Cauldron even if both the price and import costs to Malta are probably gonna be INSANE.
EDIT: Is there an official WDHV outlet where I can write to express my happiness at BC's release, and my anticipation for MMM and MT? I would pose as an American and make no mention of my country since DMC exclusives are not intended for overseas sale, and I worry that if they knew that they would think my request is worthless as they won't make any direct profit from me in case of a sale!

Re: The Black Cauldron special edition?
If it is like most DMC-releases, it will not have bonus features, but with this film, we will take what Disney gives us!! I've been planning on making a DMC order with the new releases (Fantasia, Soul, Call of the Wild, Raya when it comes out), so I'll absolutely get this. YAY!!

Re: The Black Cauldron special edition?
I want to buy the American Blu-Ray of The Black Cauldron!
Sadly i live in Sweden
I suppose i could ask my aunt in the US
But i don't think she is a member of Disney Movie Club
She is usually the way i get American Blu-Rays and dvds.
She buys them and sends them to Sweden as gifts !
She is amazing

Re: The Black Cauldron special edition?
Yay~! I might get this and Fantasia for my membership requirements then, and buy Raya via Amazon instead (it would probably be cheaper that way).
Listening to most often lately:
Ariana Grande ~ "we can't be friends (wait for your love)"
Ariana Grande ~ "imperfect for you"
Kacey Musgraves ~ "The Architect"

Thank you for that Amy! I'll write to them when I have the chance. No harm can come from it, right?blackcauldron85 wrote:Julian, a really quick Google search says:

Hey DF97! Listen, if your aunt can't get you this title, check for it on eBay. Like you, I'm in Europe, but I've always managed to nab DMC titles this way.Disney Fan Ninety-Seven wrote:I want to buy the American Blu-Ray of The Black Cauldron!

The downside? It's very expensive. eBayers know perfectly well that DMC titles are difficult to get so they charge extra. Also, shipping to Europe is costly and the price can easily be higher the item you are purchasing! (This really sucks.)
I've managed to avoid bankruptcy only because I needed only a handful of DMC-exclusive titles so far. It still tortured my wallet, but I guess I just had to suck it up. (There's a very fitting expression for this in my language, but it's a tad vulgar - and this is a family-friendly forum 'n all ... ) Thank God I'm not into Disney live-action, I guess.
