So is it going to be released to theaters? Or DVD? And will it be like a sort of Peter Pan 3, or will it be a new movie of just Tinker Bell and her friends, without the neverland setting and characters?

It's just about TinkerBell and her fairy friends I believe, set before Peter Pan and without him in it, and I'm pretty sure it's still going direct to video. Don't know if it will be in Neverland, but I would imagine so. It will be all CGI. I haven't researched it that much, even though I'm obsessed with Tink (and Ariel, both exactly my "type", ha), but this is what I've heard here at UD over the past months.

Oh okay thanks for the info guys. I hate to be pessimistic, but it doesn't sound promising. It sounds like a bunch of crap to be perfectly honest.

Well, it is basically just a vehicle for Disney, to promote this new franchise thing for Tinkerbell. There probably won't be much plot to the film, as it's just a marketing tool, and it will probably mislead fans into thinking that it's the third film of the series. It's basically a marketing vehicle for Disney and pretty much nothing more. I may be wrong though, it could be more than that, seeing as we don't know much about it, but I doubt it. And it sucks that they're giving Tinkerbell a voice, in Brittany Murphy, not that I've got anything against Brittany. She just shouldn't ever have a voice, it's not her at all.

I agree with James. I certainly will see it, likely buy it. But this Tinkerbell movie is no different then all the Barbie movies. It is just a way to sell toys. I don't expect a deep plot, but I won't judge it too harshly till I see it. I love fairies and Tinkerbell, so I'll watch it for the fun anyways, but I'm not overly excited at all.

I disagree I don't think the only reason for this movie is to sell toys because, the fairies books came out first then the toys came out, both are pre-movie. I think if they wanted to make it just to sell the toys they would have had the movie out first then the toys. But that isn't that case. Maybe they wanted to do another toy line, but I don't think it is the only reason they did the movie. I think that they saw a lot of potential for a movie because of the popularity of tinkerbell pre-fairy books. She has always been popular and people have always purchased merchandise with her on it, maybe making a fairies was to give consumers products they like but don't see much of.

There has been buzz about this since the book was released. And they are taking the same road as the Barbie movies/toys. Where the toys are released before the movies now. 12 Dancing Princesses toys were out nearly a year before the movie. And toys will generate more sales then videos alone, because you have the "collect them all" feature of it. You can't just have Barbie, you have to have her carriage, horse, boyfriend, friends, clothing, and then the dress-up stuff for the child too. Its all in marketing

Have you all seen the trailer for the Tink movie? I absolutely don't like DTV titles and I hate CGI, so actually I should think that this is crap, but the trailer really convinced me!!! It is beautifully animated and the music in the trailer was gorgeous!! If the rest of the movie is like that I'll give it a go for sure! So, let's just wait and see.

No matter what the basis or purpose of a film, even if it is to promote a toy line, there is the potential for it to be very good. The Care Bear movies are terrific, for example, though surely not to everyone's tastes. And, with Tinkerbell, you have a fantastic character to start with, which is key. There is so much potential for her, and the trailer already looks wonderful. Plus, taking this film away from the Peter Pan formula gives it a lot more potential to not be another rehash of the original. It should definitely be its own movie. Sure, the comparisons to the Barbie movie marketing make sense, but we should see the film itself before putting it in with those. And, we have yet to see if there will be more TinkerBell movies after this one. Even if it's successful, I'm not yet convinced there will be.

Can someone post a link to the trailer? I'm definitely willing to give this the benefit of the doubt, seeing as it is Tinkerbell.

I didn't say the movie didn't have potential to be good. I just said I felt it was made just to sell toys. Heck, I liked a few of those Barbie movies even, lol. I think it will be entertaining, but I am reserving myself to wait and see just how good or bad it will be.

Looks like those anticipating Tinker Bell, may have a while longer to wait:

"What disturbing news?," you ask. Well, due to some rather serious story problems, it now appears that "The Tinkerbell Movie" won't be able to meet its original Fall 2007 release date. In fact, there's even been some talk that the release date of this DisneyToon Studios production could wind up being pushed back as far as 2008 or 2009.

Aaaawwwwwwwwwww, sad!!! I was looking forward to this one!!
But if it's for the benefit of animation and story I guess it's not a a bad thing.
