January 16th, 2007- More Disney Channel DVDs!
Hi guys, Luke has just posted some info about two new DVDs featuring Disney Channel produced content. Here's the information-
Buena Vista Home Entertainment has scheduled two more Disney Channel DVDs for release early next year. Arriving on January 16, 2007 is That's So Suite Life of Hannah Montana: Mixed-Up Mashed-Up Edition, the three-show crossover that became the most-watched three episodes in the network's history when it aired last summer. The disc will include one extra for each of its featured series, with the trivia game "So You Think You Know Raven, Volume 2", a never-before-seen episode of "The Suite Life of Zack & Cody", and a Hannah Montana music video. Also on the horizon is Read It and Weep: Zapped Edition, the Panabaker sisters movie which aired last summer. It will include a behind-the-scenes featurette, the never-before-seen Jordan Pruitt music video for "Outside Looking In", and "DCOM extras." Each DVD will carry a $19.99 list price.
I'm looking forward to both. I think that releasing the crossover episode will be good, as fans of the separate shows will buy the DVD, meaning more profit will be made. Hopefully season sets will be released soon after these, as Disney did promise That's So Ravens sets, and I'm angry that they haven't been released yet! I thought that the first season would be released in Decmber, but it obviously won't. Stupid Disney should think logically, as they will make tons of money if they released the first season of Raven. They're probably scared because they thought that Lizzie McGuire was going to sell tons of sets, and it didn't. That only happened because new episodes weren't on, the Lizzie fad had died down, and Hilary Duff was on the downhill, as her movies sucks around then (A Cinderella Story, Cheaper By The Dozen, etc.) and her album hadn't released as many singles. They should release Raven, because it's still on the air, Raven is still immensely popular, and Disney isn't drowning the public with her music (well, not as much as Hilary's).
Anyway, it's good that the crossover set will be released, because if you were going to watch it on season sets, you'd have to know which episode to watch, which season of which show, and which order to watch them in , etc. And by the time that season sets will be released, most people won't know that the crossover was produced. This way, the public can watch them all in order, easily. And Disney probably won't repeat the crossover anytime soon, so it's best that they release this, so that the public buys it.
The DCOM sounds interesting, as I haven't seen it, and the Panabaker sisters are talented, but I hate the stupid "Zapped Edition" title. Does Disney think that people won't buy it unless they call it Betwitched Edition, or Encore Edition, etc.? Anyway, the special features soud good, what with the DCOM Extra, and the behind the scenes featurette. The music video is just icing. The extra episode of The Suite Life on the crossover DVD sounds good, but I wish that they'd include like an audio commentary or a video commentary at least with the stars, or some of them. Or a behind the scenes featurette on the history of the crossover, like why they did it, etc. But overall, promising titles. Bring on the cover art!

I can't I have been waiting for them to release Read it and Weep, I can't believe they didn't release it before Cheetah Girls 2.

So what if I think I'm a Princess
Well, Disney is probably trying to cash in on the Christmas rush, and I'm sure that more little girls would rather have The Cheetah Girls 2 on DVD than Read it and Weep. That's not to say that Read It and Weep is a bad movie or it's worse than The Cheetah Girls 2, it's just a lot more popular than Read It and Weep. It's a franchise phenomenon for Disney and they'd be stupid not to release it then. Read It and Weep will probably sell a lot, but not as much as The Cheetah Girls 2, so they're releasing it alongside the crossover eps so they can kind of cross-promote each other. I think that Disney is doing a great job of releasing the current DCOMs. They've released every single one made since Twitches, partly due to the overblown popularity of High School Musical. At least it's getting the DCOMs on DVD. Hopefully Disney can now release more of the older ones, such as Zenon, and even some of the more recent ones, like Life is Ruff, Go Figure, Stuck in the Suburbs etc., even though I've heard that they're crap.Princessmarlo wrote:I can't I have been waiting for them to release Read it and Weep, I can't believe they didn't release it before Cheetah Girls 2.

I am Soooo picking up ... That's So Suite Life ...
I didn't get a chance to view it when it first aired ... but my lil cuz said that the first two eps in the three-part crossover were the best ...
I had been on the look out to see if they were ever going to re-air the eps ... either individually or as the three-parter ... but I didn't see it on the line up ...
So I am glad that they decided to release it ...
I like the cover art ... esp the way the title looks ...

I'm shocked that they haven't released the Zenon films yet. I do want those and a few other unreleased DCOMs. I'm not after all the DCOMs, but Read It and Weep and a couple of others are on my "get" list (Halloweentown 1/2, Halloweentown High, Cadet Kelly, and Get a Clue), but I just haven't had the spare cash to get them yet (too busy TRYING to catch up with the animated stuff). However, I wish they would get to releasing some of the non-DCOM Disney TV movies too, like the old stuff for ABC and NBC, like Mr. Boogedy, Return of the Shaggy Dog, My Date With the President's Daughter, Fluppy Dogs, and all that. I think "Kim Possible: So the Drama" is the only DCOM I have on DVD so far, unless I'm forgetting something.

What's up with redesigning the "Read It and Weep" cover?! I mean, it stinks compared to the original! They just altered it enough to make it drab and boring. When I saw it, I realized how George Bailey felt when he saw Mary as a librarian! They had this very cute cover with the adorable Kay Panabaker all smiles, and now it looks like the Communist Edition.

Well, at least now you can tell which sister is which. They looked far too similar in the original cover.slave2moonlight wrote:What's up with redesigning the "Read It and Weep" cover?! Still, even though I don't care for the movie and don't plan on ever getting the DVD, it's a letdown of a cover.

I actually haven't seen the movie yet, ha. I have a hard time watching movies on the Disney Channel because of all the advertising, which even invades the shows with those info bars and stuff. Funny, they don't even have real commercials, mostly just commercials for Disney Channel shows, yet they seem to have far more advertising going on than the other channels. I don't think the sisters look THAT much alike though.Escapay wrote: Well, at least now you can tell which sister is which. They looked far too similar in the original cover.

I love the new covers! The Read it and Weep one looked unfinished, and horrible, while the new one looks very polished and clean. And yeah, I agree that the original one had the sisters looking too similiar. They looks separate now. The crossover episodes cover looks better. It did look like a rushed crappy photoshop job, but now it looks so much better, with all of the stars mingling on that nice bright star cover. It's great! Much better than the originals!

Yeah, that's what we all wonder. Disney usually waits for a series to end though, before releasing a season set, or at least sort of come to the end of it's run, as would've been the case, had Disney released the That's So Raven or Kim Possible box sets that they promised. Disney will get there in the end though. There shows are so popular and would sell a lot, so there's really no point in not selling them.
