She is named Babette in the original film. Disney merchandise references to her this way and Mary Kay Bergman has always been credited as the voice of 'Babette'.

Edit: I see IMDB lists her as bimbette. Confusing.

Bimbette is supposed to mean the Three Silly Girls or the Bimbettes who long for Gaston. The three blondes in red, green, and orange who have a hairstyle for each Renaissance princess (Ariel, Belle, Jasmine).

I think Fifi/Babette/Plumette is credited as Feather Duster in the original film. Her merchandise currently at the Disney Store calls her Fifi. Babette was just used for the musical and now Plumette seems to be her new name for the live-action film.

When do you think this will get a 4k edition? Will it be a new restoration? Will it still be called the 25th Anniversary edition?

The Lion King is confirmed and The Little Mermaid isn't far behind. Aladdin is rumored to come out around the live-action film's release so that just leaves BATB. I'm sure it'll get a 4K release soon, but we'll have to see if it gets a new restoration. I can't see it happening since the Signature Edition was left unchanged, but maybe they'll bother to fix the one background error. I really hope that for the 4K edition, we could get a proper restoration. Even if they just used the 3D restoration since that was still closer to the original movie than the regular Blu-Ray one ever has been.

What I wonder is if there is enough space in the disc for two 4k films? If not then maybe could finaly get the film with the proper shot at the end of Something There.

If the Blu-Ray version has enough space, then 4K should have even more space by that logic. I'd like to see the Work-in-Progress edition included again, but not as a digital only feature. And if featured on the disc like in the Diamond Edition, it should take up the full screen and not just a corner of the screen.

I'm asking it here since the Diamond Edition thread is closed.
I just bought the Diamond Edition to watch the work in progress but what there's on the disc is the theatrical edition while the work in progress is shown in the corner of the screen. Is there an option to watch just the work in progress in full screen?

Hey Farerb,

I am afraid you can't with the blu ray. But if you pop in the dvd that came with your diamond edition, when you select "play movie", you will be given three options, one of which is the Work in progress... and takes up the entire screen.

Hope this helps!

This isn't strictly movie relevant but it is Beauty and the Beast related. Saw Binging with Babish on YouTube make "the grey stuff" and the other snacks from the movie. I thought it was interesting. It's from earlier this year but maybe it's new for others.

There's a Disney blog I follow that posted an article on where the different Disney films in the canon are meant to take place. Interestingly enough, Tom Sito, who was part of the original story team that worked on BATB, confirmed when and where BATB takes place, as seen below. Thought this might interest a lot of other people as well as we finally have a confirmed time period (and region as well)!

Nice research. One small note. I was part of the original story team on Beauty and the Beast. We set it in the year 1708-1720, in the Loire area of France. The costumes did not always reflect that due to the American artists, but that was the intent.

I'm glad you guys liked the blog. I find his articles really interesting too and I've "wasted" hours reading through them. I love how he doesn't just review films, but also Disney art-of and making-of books as well.

I saw the DCP of Beauty and the Beast today at cinema and I'm mad and confused. The DCP was great, nothing like the Blu-ray. It had the correct colors and if they had darkened it a bit, it would have probably resembled the laserdisc, Belle had brown hair with no hint of red, the shot at the end of 'Something There' was correct, the dress was not lemony yellow, it was gold and it didn't have that stupid Belle's reflection.
I just don't get it - Disney has a good correct master for this film but they never used it for home release, why would they do that? Why would they do that to one of their most acclaimed films of all time? I really don't understand what's going on here. It confuses me and it makes me sad and there is no way to get an answer about it. WTF Disney?!?

I can just hope they would use this for the 4K edition, it will probably be the last time this film is released on home media so I hope Disney won't mess it up.
