TLK is a total rip-off of Bambi. But despite that I still like TLK, I watched it a lot when I was a kid. However when Simba's dad dies I don't think it made me cry cuz I was pretty old when I first saw it like 8 or something.
My favorite characters are totally Timon and Pumba. I like the monkey too.
I think it was more sad then Bambi because you actually see Simba's dad get killed and you never see Bambi's mother dying you're left to assume she died. Then it's comfirmed by the Great Prince.
And to make the record strait the animals in the forest call all bucks princes. Bambi is just a new born prince, what makes him special is that he's the son of the Great Prince. Simba was the sun of the King of the Jungle so he's called a prince cuz that's what you call a son-of-a-king.

Truth
But remembe than The Great Prince--or should I say the Old Prince-- is the one who had lived the most, and is the most handsome and strong. So he gets a little air of royalty.

Also,Simba had the opportunity to duel with the deal of his father´s death and Bambi didn´t.
Also,Simba had Timon and Pumbaa to help him, and Bambi had to stand also being persecuted by Ronno and Karus.

Trivia fact for the sequel:
+Bambi didn´t liv ith the Great Prince untill h was grown up.Aunt Old Netla taked care of him.

Yeah I ment to stay on the subject of TLK but I got a little side-track about Bambi.
The Great Prince--or should I say the Old Prince-- is the one who had lived the most, and is the most handsome and strong. So he gets a little air of royalty.
That's y they call them the Great Prince.
Bambi had to stand also being persecuted by Ronno and Karus. Bambi didn´t liv ith the Great Prince untill h was grown up.Aunt Old Netla taked care of him.
Anyone would of known this if they have read the book.
Another interesting fact is that people often think that Bambi was fighting Ronno in the movie. But it's not Ronno... its Karus. You can tell because the buck in the movie never walked on a limp. Ronno was shoot in the leg and rendered lame. I just actually watched the part in the movie where they are fighting and if that is Ronno he can run pretty darn good for being lame that is before Bambi knockes him into the river.
Oh yeah I'm sure this conversation fits with the subject of TLK.
It's actually nice talking to someone who is on the same wavelength.

I enjoy the sequels but they did take away some of the magic from the first movie especially with 1 1/2. Now when I watch The Lion King some of the magic has vanished. :(

that usually happens when I see some of the sequels.

The Lion King is my favorite Disney animation for several reasons, including the music, the scenery, and the various relationships among the characters.

My favorite songs are "Be Prepared", "I Just Can't Wait to be King", and "Circle of Life".

I love the innocence of the young Simba and the fact that he triumphs over Scar in the end while learning that he indeed was not responsible for his father's death. I like the wise old Rafiki who makes Simba realize that his father lives through Simba. And, I love seeing Scar fall after all of the destruction that he caused over simple jealousy.

Is $56.99 a good price for The Lion King Trilogy (6 pack / gift set)?

Haha- I don't know. Why would you want the box set if you already have all the movies? I can understand if you're a diehard Disney fan, but seeing how you already have them why buy them again?

Box set looks cool! But if it's the same content.. I'll spend that 50 elsewhere.

When I first saw this movie, I LOVED it. But the same thing happened to it that happened to Finding Nemo (IMO). They both had such an overwhelming crowd that loved them and that drove me from liking them. For 3 years at the most, I despised TLK, because everyone would talk about how it's the best Disney movie ever blah blah blah. It wasn't until I took the time to watch it again that I realized why I loved it so much when it first came out.

Lion King is a rip-off of Bambi? How can the company rip itself? They might have their similarities, but they have different plots

Prince Eric wrote:When I first joined the forum, I would have said The Lion King was one of my favorites, but things have changed recently. The easy answer is to blame my cooling off of the title on the deprecating DVD release, but I don't think the lack of worthy features is the culprit here. Point in case: It's aged. It's that simple. My theory? I blame half of the score. The song-and-dance numbers have always been my favorite part of the film, but now I realize that it's the Elton John half of the score that is bogging the magic down for me. His songs represented the traditional Grammy-type zeitgeist of the mid-90's in terms of what was thought of as "quality music." The Little Mermaid, Beauty and the Beast, and others have songs that are more Broadway showtunes in style, and there's something about showtunes that last forever. Anyway, that's my take. Is The Lion King a great movie? Yes. However, in my opinion, not as great as many others. It's fallen from my top five, and I suspect once I have all the animated classics on DVD, it will fall off of my top 10.
I could'nt agree more on that. Sorry kiddies...the score is far from Disney's best , ESPECIALLY the song added for DVD," Morning Report"..EEEEEEKKKK! Words cannot describe just how absolutely awful that tune really is, and the entire ridiculous sequence they concocted to go with it. It was perfect the way it was originally produced and they never EVER should have tinkered with it. Now, regarding the rest of the music, there's really nothing of any substance whatsoever here...just your typical ultra boring mediocre "pop" type tunes that, if they were forced to stand on their own rather than in this film, they would've been forgotten almost as soon as they were released. My vote for the best musical score of the more recent Disneys is "Beauty and the Beast". Excellent songs that are an intregal part of the storyline rather than just thrown in when some genius decided that "hey, let's put a song HERE!!"... terrific lyrics and great melodies that hold up very well even today. Don't get me wrong, fellow Disneyphiles...I love "Lion King" as much as everyone else here does...aside from the music (disappointing) and the fact that it was uh-HEMM! "adapted" surrupticiously from "Jungle Emperor" aka "Kimba", (something that I discussed at great length in another thread specifically addressing the subject), the characters are delightful, the animation gorgeous and the overall story is wonderful.

And here we go with the Kimba talk....

I agreee, the morning report sucks, It worked for the Brodway play and that´s all.
--I´ll liked to see animated the "Shadowlands" and "adness of King Scar" songs, but I think the movie would be too long--

What did my previous post state??? And I quote....I LOVE this movie DESPITE it's shortcomings.I make my criticisms BECAUSE I'm a Disney fan and know darn well they can do better if they wanted to instead of taking the easy road they've sometimes taken the last few years. BTW, I thru in the "Kimba" thing not only because it IS true, but also to quietly inform some of the other posters claiming it was a "rip" of "Bambi" that in a sense it was, as was "Kimba"...Dr. Tezuka claims he saw it at least 45 times and was a huge Disney fan and never denied that he modeled some of his greatest works on what came out of the Mouse House. When he and Disney met in the '60s, Uncle Walt and the Maestro got on famously and both had a mutual admiration for each other's work. As they say, imitation is the sincerest form of flattery. [/url]

Very good question indeed:

1.-Both are Prince of a kingdom
2.-In the movie, both are watched just for one of their parents--lets accept it, Mufassa was the one who we can see takes more care than Sarabi--
3.-Both have a little girlfriend who later will become his wife
4.-both have a Bird companion, who gives them advices
5.-Their parent dies.
6.-Both have a little time for get over his parent death--Bambi just had a few seconds before leaving with the Great Prince and Simba too before running from hyenas--
7.-both run for save their lives.
8.-both have 2 friends, and one is the funny and the other the stinky one
--let´s accept it,Flower not always smell like one--
9.-both see again to his girlfriend after a long time.
10.-Both fights against an equal for his true position--I mean, deer vs deer and Lion vs Lion--
11.-A kingdom destroyed than later recovers its beauty
12.-when the prince born, everybody go to see him
13.-Both have a great music
14.-both have sons at the end
15.-both take their right place in their lives at the end
16.-both figths also against the servants of the bad guy--hyenas or dogs--
17.-both see their reflex on the water--in a different meaning, but both important parts of the story--

and finally:
18.-eventually, both will have a sequel

I think it´s all, I hope than that have cleared your doubts n_n
Now with all of these similarities tell me how Lion King cannot be a rip-off from Bambi. I'm not saying I don't like the Lion King, its one of my faviorite movies.
