BURBANK, Calif., October 4 2004 – All the action and excitement of Disney’s epic film
“Mulan” return in a sweeping new animated adventure, <b>MULAN II</b>, premiering only on Disney
DVD and VHS February 1, 2005. <b>MULAN II</b> reunites the hero of China with Mushu her
hilarious guardian dragon, her “gang of three” best buddies Yao, Ling and Chien-Po, and her
beloved Shang. This time they journey on a special mission – one that tests the honor of all,
while the fate of the empire hangs in the balance.

<b>MULAN II</b> reunites cast members Ming-Na as Mulan, B.D. Wong as Shang, Pat Morita as the
Emperor, Harvey Fierstein as Yao, Gedde Watanabe as Ling, Jerry Tondo as Chien-Po and Soon-
Tek Oh as Fa Zhou. This new adventure introduces Lucy Liu (“<i>Charlie’s Angels</i>”) and Olympic
skating champion Michelle Kwan to the cast. <b>MULAN II</b> features great original songs
performed by popular artists. Lea Salonga, the original singing voice of Mulan, returns for more
sensational musical performances, alongside chart-topping girl band Atomic Kitten and rising star
Hayley Westenra.

On DVD <b>MULAN II</b>'s bonus features include:

• <b>Voices of Mulan</b>
A star-studded feature highlighting the voice cast.

• <b>Deleted Scenes</b>

• <b>The World of Mulan</b>
Hosted by your favorite dragon, Mushu, this featurette takes you
on a fun-filled tour of China’s rich history and culture.

• <b>Mushu’s Guess Who?</b>
Play a guessing game as the mischievous Mushu shows off his shadow puppet skills.

• <b>“(I Wanna Be) Like Other Girls” Animated Music Video</b>
Performed by pop sensation Atomic Kitten.

Beautiful, vibrant and heroic, Disney’s daring Mulan (Ming Na) gets the surprise of her young life when
her love, General Shang (B.D. Wong), asks for her hand in marriage. This makes everyone happy except
Mushu (Mark Moseley), Mulan’s wise-cracking little dragon, who tries to keep Mulan single when he
learns he’ll lose his guardian job if Mulan marries into Shang's family. With China threatened by a
mongol invasion, the Emperor (Pat Morita) calls upon Mulan, Shang, and their three lovable friends Yao
(Harvey Fierstein), Ling (Gedde Watanabe) and Chien-Po (Jerry Tondo) to escort his daughters to
arranged marriages with vital allies in the northern provinces.

When the three princesses unexpectedly fall in love with the gang of three, Mulan decides to help them,
even though this contradicts the Emperor’s orders and calls Mulan’s relationship with Shang into
question. Mulan remains true to her heart, however, by solving the problem in her own unique way,
saving both the princesses and China.

I'm wary of this sequel because I really liked the ending of the original Mulan. It seems like anytime they make a sequel to a Disney movie that had a great bow-tie ending, it somehow diminishes the impact of what the heroes did in the first movie or comes off as pointless. Another strike for this movie is the fact that Eddie Murphy is not reprising his role of Mushu. His humor was one of the best parts of the original film, and now that is missing. It might be worth a rental, but I'm not a DTV completist, so I probably won't buy it.

i'm gonna rent first as well (me no money) and despite lack of Eddie Murphy and common TV animation, it still looks promising

It's just another excuse for Disney to make more money off of something without really having to be creative. I wonder if the DTV staff ever gets board with having to always do the sequels. I'd want a chance to do some original material.

Plus, if this movie was really important to Disney, they would have paid Eddie Murphy any amount to get him to voice Mushu again.

That alone shows me how important this movie will be to them and to me in the future.

Looks good to me. I think I'll get it. I'm not one for Disney squels but I'm such a completist. If there's a sequel then I have to have it. It's a pain in the butt. Plus a pain in my wallet.

From what I saw on the Aladdin DVD, Mulan 2 doesn't seem half bad, but the animation still pales in comparison to its predecessor. A rental would do better than just a blind buy, but it's still cool to have most of the original vocal cast reprise their roles.

Animated-news has menu screen shots:

MULAN II – menu screenshots:

I'm guessing this menu changes to Mulan, Shang, and Mushu if you don't push any buttons.

Thanks for the screenies. ^-^

Anyhoo, I probably won't buy Mulan II when it comes out; just give it a test drive from Blockbusters, if you will. If I like what I see, then I'll invest my hard-earned (cough) money.
Wherever. Whatever. Have a nice day.
