Getting The Black Cauldron in Europe from Ebay is certainly going to be expensive. But for selected titles I feel it is worth it. I recently paid a total of $66.82 (including shipping and duties) to get a copy of 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea to The Netherlands. In hindsight that was a bit more than I wanted to spend, but for The Black Cauldron it is going to be easily worth it.

Are any of you really all that okay with the movie being in 1080p with SDR, with no 4K UHD release?

I don't have a 4K TV and I don't know what SDR is. I'd rather the film get a deluxe treatment, video, audio, and bonus features, but literally I'll take what Disney gives us for this film.

But I'm curious for the rest of you, is the lack of 4K dissuading you at all from the purchase?

I’m personally fine with a standard Blu-ray. While a 4K release would’ve been nice, I don’t know how realistic it would’ve been to expect DMC to release their first 4K exclusive when their Blu-ray exclusives are already a niche market. I’m happy that this is finally getting released in the first place.

Disney isn't releasing any films before the Renaissance with 4K, and Blu-ray is still high quality.

I am more than happy with "regular" blu-ray. 4k isn't even that interesting unless you have a very big screen TV (which I have no space for anyway). I have already seen The Black Cauldron in HD once and it looks gorgeous.

I do hope that there will be some extra's on the blu-ray. But that isn't very common for DMC's releases is it?

Agreed with the rest.

A 4K UHD would be incredible, but it simply isn't realistic to expect one for such a niche title.

The good news is that blu-ray is still big screen worthy. I have a projector setup with a 120" screen, and my projector is 4K capable. Yes, 4K UHDs look ravishing at that size, but regular blu-rays are not far off and can more than hold their own on the same screen. Many of them look spectacular despite being "mere 1080p."

You are correct- DMC exclusives either never or almost never come with bonuses (I don't own them all so I am not 100% sure).

Yes. I've seen several 4k movies and don't see much of a difference other than the colour being washed out and the movie being strangely dark. It's not worth it. I only own 4K movies because they came in combo packs of RAD from Vinegar Syndrome and The Goonies blu-ray set that came with a 4K version.
Think about this. Once bread becomes toast, you can't make it back into bread.

The colors are not washed out, the Blu-rays are oversaturated. HDR brings back the original natural tone the films used to have and there's much more depth in shadows so the films don't look like Saturday morning cartoons anymore (especially the ones made by CAPS). They also shouldn't be dark, you should probably check your settings, I'm guessing the Backlight is too low.

:pink: I wasn't expecting anything at all, and I figured nothing new would be on the disc, but I'm SO glad that the Fairfolk deleted scene has been ported over onto the Blu!

This is one of those movies I have never seen, mainly because I've heard mixed reviews on it. I have checked some videos on YouTube, and it looks interesting. Would you guys recommend I get it on Bly-ray?
