^ At least they're going to let them come back when the time comes, so that's really good.

This is true but for some, now is the only time the DCP was possible. One of my friends has a start day in September so hopefully she will be okay— but if her program were delayed or cancelled, she probably wouldn’t be able to go anymore because she’s engaged and was going to get married after her program was finished.

I wasn't thinking like that, but that's true. Really, what else can Disney do? For safety, the parks must be closed, so obviously it stinks for those people that won't be able to return, but I don't see any other way around it. :(

Oh yes, I know it’s not Disney’s fault and they’re making the right decisions. It’s just one of the things this virus is taking away from people and it’s very sad.

*edit* Even with the Parks closed, we're seeing reduction in food menu selection and price increases:

Hmmm.... a good sign I guess?

I’ve spoken with my friends with upcoming CP’s. Of course my friend with the August date is still in the clear, but I was worried about my friend from Mexico. Apparently his start date is early July so his program hasn’t been cancelled yet but if health officials and federal government say we need to stay closed down longer, it may effect him. Hopefully if it comes to that they will just delay his starting date though!!

:( Disney World To Furlough 43,000 Workers
https://deadline.com/2020/04/disney-wor ... 202906364/
Clinton said all affected employees will be eligible to immediately enroll in unemployment benefits in Florida, and those with insurance will be able to keep their medical, dental and life insurance benefits for up to a year.

“Disney will pay 100% of all insurance costs,” he said. “There will be no cost to any employee who’s on furlough for use of their medical insurance and the continued coverage of it.”

Just under 200 union workers who are considered essential will remain on the job. Those positions include custodial, culinary, housekeeping, and lake patrol positions, the union said.

I’m hopeful they will reopen as soon as safely possible! Too many people living paycheck to paycheck and out of a job. :(

https://prospectivepixiedust.com/2020/0 ... wishables/

Look at these adorable little bears! And they’re already sold out (at least Big Al is, I assume the grab bag is too since I can’t find them) which is probably good news for my wallet and definitely good news for my favorite classic attraction. I love The Country Bears!

I haven't bought Wishables because I'm not so into the blind-bag thing, but these are ones that I wouldn't mind which I got, because they're all adorabear!!!

It even works out if you got multiples of the Sun Bonnet Bear— I’d want a complete trio!

Breaking: Disney Springs to reopen on May 20th at Walt Disney World

https://wdwnt.com/2020/05/breaking-disn ... ney-world/
It has been announced that Disney Springs will be reopening as part of Phase 1 reopening for the state on May 20 at Walt Disney World.

A phased reopening of Disney Springs will begin on May 20. Following the guidance of government and health officials, a limited number of shopping and dining experiences that are owned by third-party operating participants will begin to open during this initial phase. The rest of Walt Disney World Resort will remain closed, including theme parks and resort hotels.

As Disney continues to monitor conditions, and with the health of guests and Disney cast members at the forefront of planning, Disney Springs is making several operational changes. Disney Springs will begin to reopen in a way that incorporates enhanced safety measures, including increased cleaning procedures, the use of appropriate face coverings by both cast members and guests, limited-contact guest services and additional safety training for cast members.

Disney will apply learnings and ideas from leaders in the health and travel industries, and the company is in talks with the unions to prepare for some cast members to return to work.

During the initial opening phase, Disney Springs will have limitations on capacity, parking and operating hours. Additional protocols and procedures may be announced closer to the opening date. Additional information will be released on the Disney Springs website regarding the most current information on operating hours, locations and safety procedures as the May 20 date nears.

Walt Disney World Resort parks, hotels, and resorts remain closed, and no official reopening date has been identified.

(My dog Oliver's nickname was OllieBear, so I called him adorabear, but it applies to those toys-- and so true about the trio!)

I remember reading that the McKenna NYC bakery was opening maybe in March (or April), and was it Disney Springs' Starbucks that was going to reopen around then? So I'm not too surprised. I won't be going anytime soon...I've only gone to the vet a few times...but just venting: My husband and I have been working from home since March, and he has to go get the mail for his work once a week, and sometimes he has to go to the office, and he's been doing the grocery shopping; I've only gone to the vet. But yesterday the bug exterminator came to the house, no mask  and I'm paranoid. I didn't know we had bugs besides ants outside... :(

So, no Disney Springs for me for a while. But I do hope that everything goes well and safe there.
