Re: Maleficent: Mistress of Evil
The new Prince Phillip is horrible. He looks (and sounds) like one of the children from Village of the Damned! Maleficent's line "don't ruin my morning" came off unintentionally comedic. The rest of the trailer was fine. Not too fond of having her regress into a misunderstood villain again because we know that won't stick by the end. I'm a bit ambivalent about there being more creatures like Maleficent. On the one hand, it kind of makes her less special, on the other there's narrative potential in that development. I guess we'll find out.

Thanks for posting, Clindor.
I like it. It's about what I expected--an excuse for a divafest and lots and lots of magic. *shrug* At least this trailer gave a reason for why she opposes the marriage (her past experience with "love") and Pfeiffer looks like more of a villain with that line, "You have done an admirable job going against your own nature to raise this child." In the teaser, Maleficent seemed to hate her just because she's human. @Sotiris: I think that morning line is supposed to be funny?
I really wish they could've got the same actor for Phillip though. :/ I know I'm not looking forward to more of all the ugly CGI animals. I would like if this was successful enough to get a third film because I like watching Jolie as Maleficent even the first film itself was weak. Perhaps they'll get Lana Del Ray back to sing "I Wonder" this time.

I'm liking what I see, but what the hell is with those creatures like her?

I'm not sure why people are so surprised about the quality of this trailer. This movie was always promising to be trash anyway. At the same time, I didn't think the trailer was really that bad although the twist doesn't really pull me in. I'm more interested in Maleficent's dynamic with Pfeiffer's character.

I don't think this should have been made yhis. Here is my reasoning.
Walt never made a Snow White 2 he made a similar movie with Cinderella.
Disney shoyldn't make Live action Beauty and The Beast 2. They should make asimlar movie with Rob marshell Litte Mermiad.
Instead of making Aladddin 2 make a Hercules remake in the samestyle hopefully much better !
Cruella was a spritual fellow up to Maleficent. That's all i needed.

Re: Maleficent: Mistress of Evil
Maleficent being jealous of Aurora's mother in law is bad enough.
But there being a whole races of Maleficents is one of the stupidest thing i have seen in a long time.
Also why is Chiwetel Ejiofor playing two villians in movies in the same year. Isn't that a bit reapative and can't Disney get some others stars to be in their movies.
i canb promise that his role in this will be a foot note next tohim voicing Scar.
But Michelle Pfeiffe is great and she seems to at leaast be enjoying herself in this movie.

I guess they probably didn't think it was a big deal since he's a voice actor in one and an actor in the other.DisneyFan97 wrote:Also why is Chiwetel Ejiofor playing two villians in movies in the same year. Isn't that a bit reapative and can't Disney get some others stars to be in their movies.

Good news: It looks much better than the first one.
Bad news: It's still stupid
The new Philip is just as wooden as the movie Jafar and I thought Mal fit in with the fairies already.

Re: Maleficent: Mistress of Evil
Well, the visuals sure are nice. It’s much prettier to look at than the original which I thought was pretty ugly. I’m shocked Jolie signed off on a script where the character regresses so much. There just doesn’t feel like there’s any story to tell beyond “Maleficent gets mad, they duke it out, and they call a truce”... Not excited for this, but I’ll gladly see it if critics say it’s not pointless like everything I’m seeing seems to indicate.
Still broken hearted we didn’t and won’t get a true Sleeping Beauty adaptation.

This film looks just like "I'm her mother!" "No, I am!" bitchery and that's it. Hardly Oscar worthy...

I see they are continuing the X-Men crossover in this sequel... rolls eyes... I wonder how much they'll butcher the fairytale even further in this one
Re: Maleficent: Mistress of Evil
I enjoyed the trailer. Though I seem to be in the minority here as I enjoyed the first one as well.
It does appear it might be following the original with regards to the mother in law being wicked, which we know Michelle Pfeiffer can do so well.

Which makes me wonder if Pfeiffer dies at the end or not.Atlantica wrote: It does appear it might be following the original with regards to the mother in law being wicked, which we know Michelle Pfeiffer can do so well.

I wonder if the sequel turns out to be a hit they'll change their minds and make a third one.

I'm just glad Diaval is back I thought they had dumped him.
as for costumes I dont like that low cut strapless whatever she's wearing in the battle scenes, yuck.

Re: Maleficent: Mistress of Evil
I'm sure they would. I think Disney knows from past experience with Alice Through the Looking Glass that sequels to the remakes can flop enormously--and Maleficent didn't even to do as well as Alice in Wonderland. I'm prepared for it do badly, but I'm sure they would make a third one if this did moderately well despite being a drop from the first one (I'm thinking around $400-500 million worldwide).Sotiris wrote:I wonder if the sequel turns out to be a hit they'll change their minds and make a third one.
