With The Lion King's trailer out, I think Aladdin is going to be the "better" of the two. I still think it's going to be bad, but I think I might enjoy it.

Agreed, but that was my hunch all along. Mostly because aladdin will have humans to look at.

I can't decide which of the two looks better, but I am excited for both of them. :D

why on earth did the give the Aladdin actor a wig? Wasn't his own hair good enough? :?

so is Prince Anders supposed to be the replacement for Prince Ahkmed?

Is it really a wig though or is the product in his hair what made it look that way in the photo?

Yeah, pretty much.

Yes, I agree! The color choices really remind me of something you'd see in a big dance number in a Bollywood movie.

I personally love Bollywood/Hindi musicals. Many of them are essentially love stories with musical numbers, which is kind of Disney's forte haha. In fact, Disney a few years back even made a Bollywood movie for Indian release IRCC.

For Aladdin I think it looks pretty for sure. Maybe not culturally accurate (I cannot speak for nor against). My bigger concern is that the characters are going to be flat and boring.

I was at Target this weekend and I saw a bunch of new Aladdin live action books. There was one with stickers that had these very colorful cartoonish designs but different from the classic animated designs. Stuff like this is where I worry all of this as an attempt to replace the animated versions. But to be fair there is also a lot lot of new merch coming out this year with the original classic designs too, so I guess as long as they keep both around its not so bad. Hopefully they'll stop making stuff with the new designs once the live action film is out of theaters after a while and just go back to the original(frankly better) designs.

Previous live-action film designs for Alice, Cinderella, BATB, Dumbo, etc. haven't replaced the animated versions so there's really no fear of that happening to Aladdin either. By this time next year, we won't be seeing any merchandise of the live-action Aladdin.

Zayn Malik and Zhavia Ward will be singing the pop version of "A Whole New World" in the end credits.
Zayn Malik shot the music video for the new Aladdin soundtrack in New York's Central Park late last night. The former One Direction star was joined by dreadlocked singer Zhavia Ward.

To be honest, though I liked the song when I heard the first snippet, I wasn't too impressed. But now I love it too! And Naomi Scott seems to have quite a good voice, doesn't she?

I'm so glad! :D It's really fortunate how good the new songs for the remakes turned out to be. Evermore, Days in the Sun, and now Speechless are among my favorites in the Disney canon. It just goes to show that Menken never lost his touch. He had just been sidelined and underutilized.

I know, right? I still surprised by how good she sounds. Who knew Jasmine would be the best part of the movie?

I tried transcribing the lyrics for Speechless. Let me know if you notice any mistakes.
Written in stone, every rule, every word

Centuries old and unbending

Stood in your face that is seen and not heard

Well, now that story’s ending

‘Cause I, I cannot start to crumble

So come on and try

Try to shut me, cut me down

I won’t be silenced, you can’t keep me quiet

Won’t tremble when you try

All I know is I won’t go speechless

Speechless!

I cannot stand it, I cannot be broken

No, I won’t leave unspoken

‘Cause I know that I won’t go speechless

I wish it was more blue than green for sure and I wish her ponytail was more like in the animated movie, but I do like her new peacock veil a lot. She always had a simple outfit in the animated movie that was demanding to be embellished like how it is in the Parks and Broadway musical.
