The social media embargo has been lifted and the majority of Twitter posts have been overwhelmingly positive/raves towards this movie and it made me very happy. A minority felt it was disappointing but this film won't please everyone on earth.

'Where the Lost Things Go' is such an emotional song ! I was driving home from work and it popped onto my Spotify; I was welling up listening to it. Absolutely wonderful. Emily is absolutely exquisite singing it.

I really hope the film is as wonderful as I have built it up to be in my head.

At least we know the titles of two deleted songs now. "The Anthropomorphic Zoo" and "Stuff and Nonsense". It's perplexing as to why they didn't give the movie a deluxe edition soundtrack. It would have been a great opportunity to share some of the deleted songs. Not to mention, an expanded score instead of wasting it on a FYC CD.

That's because Ken Duncan submitted the sequence himself (unlike AMPAS, ASIFA-Hollywood allows filmmakers to submit their own work). I doubt Disney would have cared enough to do so.

Congrats to the animators that Duncan Studio submitted, for their Annie Nomination (Poppins)!

Speaking of which, Ken Duncan broke his silence on the way Disney treated him during the making of Mary Poppins Returns and it's appalling to put it mildly. Apparently, Disney is in the habit of purposefully mishandling budgets allocated to third-party VFX houses it hires to work on live-action movies in order to save a buck and as a result those studios often end-up bankrupt and are forced to shut down.

I‘m going to discuss something here that I heard in a public space, at the Poppins screening...It was something surprising, but also affirming. Disney Pictures treated Duncan Studio in a strange way during the making of the animated sequences. We were considered a VFX house (we think of ourselves as an animation studio). As we know, several VFX houses have been put out of business after working on a Disney Pictures film (not Disney Animation), i.e. Rhythm & Hues, Café FX, etc. We experienced a rather unsympathetic Disney accountant on the Poppins production (among others). On Thursday after arriving at the theater, this accountant saw me in the restroom before the screening. Several minutes later, Juliet and I made our way to our seats. The people next to us, and behind us were turned away and chatting rather loudly. I don’t think they saw us seated. I heard someone say, “…Duncan, the guys that did the 2D animation…”. It was the accountant, saying he saw me earlier...or to that effect. Then, his wife said rather loudly, “Duncan Studio, well you shut them down didn’t you?” (closed down) and then laughed.

Wow! There it was! This somewhat affirms how we were treated on this project, and what we assumed their objective was. Well, we haven’t been SHUT DOWN, bitches!!….and there’s more to say about this.

P.S. Rob Marshall and Jim Capobianco did not behave this way. They were about the art. Very cool.

It is Hollywood Ken. One day while walking down the hallway at Disney I ran into Phil Lafaro and a bunch of executives. Lafaro looked at me with scorn, reached into his pocket pulled out a dollar bill and threw it at my feet and said "Pick it up". The executives laughed as they walked by. I just stared at him. That is Hollywood.

Hopefully the deleted songs will be on the Blu-Ray.

It's repugnant how Ken Duncan was treated! As if we didn't already need physical proof that the hate against hand-drawn animation is real. I'm really hoping that if nothing else, this film will revive interest in that. If movie musicals can be in fashion again, then surely hand-drawn animation can as well, especially if Disney finally goes ahead with that "experimental" technique they haven't touched since Paperman.

I saw it last night and lets just say I was smiling the entire time when I was watching it. It's a magical movie that's worthy to be a sequel to the original movie.

I'm so glad you liked it. I know eight people who have already seen it too and seven of them absolutely loved it.

I'm 100% not shocked. This is the company that delieberaly closed down one of the Disney Jr animation production houses. Why would they sabotage a company that literally holds no threat to them? It makes no sense whatsoever.

On a lovely note, (Underneath the) Lovely London Sky is beyond beautiful and A Cover is Not the Book reminds me so much of Super....

It's of course just my speculation, but my thought about how the other animation companies have been treated was that maybe Disney wants them to do Disney's work for this one project, ya know, use their labor, then squash the competition so those studios can't be competitors. If other film studios see the work Duncan Studios did on MPR, they may want to hire them for their own film, and then Disney has competition...?

I had a couple Fandango codes to use, so I bought my MPR tickets last night- I'm so excited (Saturday 12/22, here we come!)
