I like the Russian elements to the palace. It'll help differentiate this film from previous Nutcracker adaptations and it's a nice nod to Tchaikovsky.

This is not very reassuring.

Why is it so bad that the re-shoots brought upon a shared credit?

The poster is beautiful!

The book covers have been revealed. They're all very pretty. Have you noticed that the media tie-ins for Disney's live-action movies get really nice covers whereas the covers for their animated films are usually godawful?

Those are beautiful indeed. The actress playing Clara is super cute. :) What's her name, by the way? I remember seeing her in the last Twilight movie, but I didn't catch her name.

Covers look delightful. Hope they sell some merchandise featuring the egg. However I find it odd that the Nutcracker still hasn't made an appearance. I know the film is diverting from the story a little but it almost seems as though the nutcracker is nonexistent.

These book covers are really nice.

I thought the new trailer would be released right after the new poster as they usually do, but maybe they are planning to release it with Christopher Robin.

Joe Johnston must've reshoot a considerable amount of the finished film if it has been decided to credit him as a director too.

Wow Sotiris! How did you manage to find the covers? They aren't even on Amazon. And they are indeed lovely.

Speaking of animated covers, remember when Disney literally put the ending of Frozen on one of its book covers before the movie came out

NEW TRAILER played during my screening of Ant-Man & the Wasp. Can’t say it was very reassuring.

Lots of new footage, basic chosen one (princess) plot where she must defeat Mother Ginger. Not one shot of a Nutcracker. AND THE MOST BAFFLING THING. Kiera Knightley’s Sugar Plum fairy character speaks in a high squeaky voice that sounds utterly laughable. It’s literally Keira doing her highest, nasalliest baby voice. I’m just waiting for the trailer to hit online and people to be mocking it (her voice) until the films release.

I just find it extremely odd that they won't show the Nutcracker as the nutcracker (if that soldier accompanying Clara is the nutcracker) and also, why have Mother Ginger be the villain as opposed to the Mouse King? I mean second to the nutcracker, the Mouse King is a pretty iconic character in the ballet/Hoffman story. It's like having Peter Pan without Captain Hook.

They did show the character of the Nutcracker in the new trailer and he even has a few lines, but there’s no shot of an actual nutcracker in the real world even once... which is rather odd to me considering... well, the title and what the story is based on?

At first I thought that Disney was just hiding the Nutcracker to leave his actual appearance a surprise for the audience but that doesn't seem the case anymore.

What gorgeous book covers.

Maybe the Nutcracker will actually be a small but signifigant role, but we won't mind because the rest of the movie will still be really good? I still hope he has a big role.

Everything you said. And what does the Mouse King do here exactly

I'm starting to fear that too, but if that's the case then the title would not make any sense.

Here are photos of some of the costumes from the film from a display:

Is it normal for trailer to not be released even though it was played in cinemas weeks ago? :|

I’ve seen maybe a week between one being in theaters and it dropping, but never this long. Definitely out of the ordinary. But to be honest, from what I saw, I think k they have a lot to worry about with this movie, and I wouldn’t be surprised if they were in panic mode. Especially with the switch in directors.

Solo was riddled with behind-the-scenes strife and rumors and now it appears that The Nutcracker is as well. I don't predict it will do very well at this point especially since special-effects heavy A Wrinkle in Time also didn't catch on with audiences. People seem sick of the CGI fest fantasy films lately. Maleficent was the last successful one which I reckon was more because of Angelina Jolie's starpower and Disney claiming that this was the unheard true version of a classic story.
