So this would be the movie where things go to hell for the Resistance?

Thinking positive thoughts for Carrie Fisher for a speedy recovery. Met her 3 years ago at our comic expo in Calgary. Awesome, eccentric lady. Puts a smile on everyone's face that's around her. Get well Princess. May the force be with you!

She died today.

So sad. I think a lot of us had hope she would pull through.

I wonder how they'll write her out of star wars. They already shot her scenes for the next one, now its just a matter of how they will work around it for the one after.

After I’d read she was in stable condition, I was just hoping she would be in less pain as she recovered. So sad to see she didn’t recover at all. I thought she was a really nice lady, even though I didn’t know too much about her (and I was never much of a SW fan). Rest in peace. :(

In a bizarre, and said chain of events. Carrie Fisher's mom Debbie Reynold passed away a day after Carrie did. Debbie's last words were, I want to go see Carrie.

Surely somewhere on the forum it was posted that this film will be called The Last Jedi...?!

I don't think so. It seems there aren't many Star Wars fans on this forum . I don't consider myself a true fan, but I do like the films, especially the original trilogy.

Regarding the title, it was recently revealed, thanks to its translation to other languages, that the word "Jedi" in the title is plural. So there will be more than one last Jedi in the film. (Source)

I'm glad they are not recreating her digitally for the last film. It would be a bit disrespectful to do that so soon after her passing, plus the digital recreations in Rogue One looked horrible in my opinion.

It seems that Carrie Fisher won't be in Episode IX after all:
Despite an update last week from Todd Fisher, the brother of late actress Carrie Fisher, it seems Princess Leia will not be appearing in Star Wars: Episode IX. Speaking with Good Morning America today, Lucasfilm President Kathleen Kennedy denied the report, saying that Todd Fisher “was probably confused.”

“We finished everything in VIII and Carrie is absolutely phenomenal in the movie,” she told the outlet, “and we’re so happy we were able to complete filming in the summer. Unfortunately, Carrie passed away [at a] time when we were well underway with Episode IX in our thoughts. We had not written a script yet. But we’ve regrouped. We started over again in January. Sadly, Carrie will not be in IX.”

Why am I getting a major vibe of one of the very first teaser posters for the original Star Wars from this?
