Re: Disney Animation on Blu-ray in 2016
So update on the blu-ray releases of Mulan and Pocahontas. Both discs are identical to the previous releases except the sequels have been removed. Pocahontas is the theatrical version and NOT the extended edition unfortunately. All the features that were put in the virtual vault were not put back for Pocahontas.

I can't believe this laziness...
At least I think they're putting more effort on the 25th Anniversary Edition of Beauty and the Beast. They are already working on some extras with Paige O’Hara.
“I’m the only original actress and singer now painting Disney princesses for Disney Fine Art,” she notes. (She’s also creating a conceptual painting as a DVD extra for the upcoming 25th-anniversary “Beauty and the Beast” rerelease.)

It's too bad she's not making the cover art.
Listening to most often lately:

Ariana Grande ~ "imperfect for you"

Wow, this is an extra I'm actually looking forward to. I'm honestly shocked they reached out to her and not one of the Descendants actors for some dumb new feature like Beauty and the Beast in a 60 second rap.bruno_wbt wrote:

I'm sure they've already commissioned Mitchell Hope to shoot a music video for the "Be Our Guest" cover featured in the film. ::shudders::JeanGreyForever wrote:Wow, this is an extra I'm actually looking forward to. But awesome news about O'Hara's involvement!

We're getting new Dumbo and Alice in Wonderland releases. It seems they will be in the same vein as the new Mulan and Pocahontas releases with Digital HD and the packaging the only thing new about them.

Re: Disney Animation on Blu-ray in 2016
Thanks!! Looks like they indeed intend to continue with these Digital HD reissues. I've compiled a list of all the already-released on BD titles from the canon that never included a DC on any edition. I wonder how many of these are they planning to update.Sotiris wrote:We're getting new Dumbo and Alice in Wonderland releases. Re: Disney Animation on Blu-ray in 2016
I've yet to get a BD of Dumbo, so I'd be all in for a new release (especially if it comes with a slipcover). But if these are just through the DMC, I'm out of luck.

Happy to hear Dumbo is being re-released. Alice would excite me more if it actually got a more accurate restoration but I'm sure that's not going to happen anytime soon.

Alice's restoration was gorgeous. Didn't it match the colors on the Gold Collection DVD, with the sharpness of the Masterpiece Edition restoration?JeanGreyForever wrote:Happy to hear Dumbo is being re-released. Re: Disney Animation on Blu-ray in 2016
interesting; ive always thought that it was a good restoration..and most reviews of the previous bluray for Alice were commendable about it. I will def. be picking it up, however, Dumbo I already have. I am guessing that all "premiere titles (Snow White, Beauty and the Beast, etc) will replace the Diamond Line with the new Signature series, and all other titles are going to be re-released with digital copies? make sense? However! can I please get the package films and "Black Cauldron"?? sheesh*

Re: Disney Animation on Blu-ray in 2016
It was a new set of colors that basically pumped up the brightness. Ideally, the perfect Alice restoration would be the colors of the past 2 DVD releases (Masterpiece and 60th Anniversary). I'm not sure what the Gold Collection DVD looked like.Sicoe Vlad wrote:Alice's restoration was gorgeous. Re: Disney Animation on Blu-ray in 2016
Yea, Alice's restoration should be fixed.
As for Paige O' Hara's involvement...that may not be a good thing. The work I've seen from her was like bad copying of film stills.
In fact, just Google Paige O' Hara painting and you will see exactly what I mean. Thank GOD she won't be doing the cover art.

I actually like her artwork, it has a very unique style, but I do agree with Duster, it wouldn't be a good style for the cover art.Disney Duster wrote:Yea, Alice's restoration should be fixed.

I think there's a review of the Gold Collection DVD here, on UltimateDisney, and it has some screencaps.JeanGreyForever wrote:It was a new set of colors that basically pumped up the brightness.
