I would be on board if they were doing a film adaptation of the Broadway musical but this is just another pointless cash-grab.

I'm looking forward to it, as far as mindless comedy goes (just like the original).

The remake is still on.

Quote:
Whoopi Goldberg has confirmed a new Sister Act is in the making – and we couldn’t be any more excited. The star spoke about the project while on Good Morning Britain, and revealed that it is heading in a different direction. Speaking of the possibility of a third film, she said: "We’ve been all over Disney begging. They’ve decided that they’re going to go in a different direction with Sister Act. So it won’t be Sister Act 3; it will be a brand new rendition of Sister Act, and I guess I’ll walk through a scene and that’s how they’ll say I was part of it."

It's quite likely the movie will end-up on Disney's streaming service.

Q: Do you think if they do it, it will be streaming?

Skyler Shuler: That’s where I believe it goes.

“Sister Act 3” is ramping up development, tapping “Insecure” co-executive producer Regina Hicks and “Star” showrunner Karin Gist to pen the sequel for Disney’s newly named streaming service, Disney+.

Plot details of “Sister Act 3” are being kept under wraps, but the original starred Whoopi Goldberg and centered on her Reno lounge singer, who goes into protective custody at a San Francisco convent and pretends to be a nun after a mob boss puts a hit on her. Goldberg has said she would cameo in this pic, but that a new cast would put a fresh spin on the original.

Regina Hicks, an executive producer on HBO’s Insecure, and Karin Gist, showrunner of Fox’s Star, are penning the next chapter in what began as the saga of Deloris Van Cartier for Disney+. Plot details are currently unknown, but the biggest question remains: will Whoopi Goldberg make an official return? Sadly, it doesn’t seem that way, despite what she said in the past.

“It is our understanding that this is not a continuation and Whoopi is not involved,” a rep for the actress told EW.

The Chronicles of Van Cartier: A Sister Act Story, showing how the woman we know came to be her rotfl

just kidding, but I see no point in making a new 'spin' in a movie already done. Spin it further and call it something else. There, you have a new movie. I would be on board if they were making a film of the Broadway musical, but this... meh

I would also be interested in it if was an adaptation of the Broadway musical. Or if it was a continuation and it was starred by Whoopi Goldberg, but not in just a remake of the first film.
