No Wreck-It Ralph 2 then?

Post by disneyprincess11 »

Rich Moore is working on Zootopia and it sounds like Frozen 2 has the Fall 2018 slot. Guess, I guess Wreck-It Ralph 2 is either on hold or cancelled completely

That's odd. I expected WIR2 to have a closer release date than Frozen's sequel. I wonder if it has something to do with Jennifer Lee (wasn't she involved with this?); maybe they would rather her focus on Frozen?

I asked Brendan Connelly about the 411 and I'm waiting for him to respond. It's official now that he's trusted with Disney movie info.

Well, Brendan has spoken and.... :(
Brendon Connelly ‏@brendonconnelly: ...Disney develop many projects in parallel, and push them into production in sometimes surprising orders. Don't think of Ralph 2 as being dead, per se, just not currently about to go into production. And we don't know for sure it ever will.

That's too bad. Maybe it'll happen after Frozen's sequel, but that seems such a while away and I feel like that would make it less likely? Both it and BH6 do seem more apt for sequels than Frozen (although I don't think a Frozen sequel is an abomination like some might).

Yeah me too -__-

We need original movies, not more sequels.

Sequels won't stop original films from being created. I'm for sequels that are treated seriously, even if Disney's motives are always about the green.

Since BH6 is very likely to have a sequel, imo, that means all of them except Tangled.

I quite liked Wreck-It-Ralph, and I don't despise sequels, so I'm looking forward to this. I'm glad to see it isn't a dead project.

I like sequels when the original was good and it makes sense for the story to continue.

This universe has worlds to explore. Unlike Frozen.

Great news! Hopefully they'll do the same they did with "Toy Story", include the ideas that weren't used.

Further details on the announcement.
John C. Reilly officially announced 'Wreck It Ralph 2' at the Galway Film Fleadh yesterday. The announcement happened during 'An afternoon with John C. Reilly' - an interview and Q&A session with the Hollywood actor. Speaking on the announcement, he said "I guess I can say it here, for the first time... Wreck It Ralph two is coming! It was agreed right here in Galway, on the phone".

I was returning from the shop, and, typical of life’s quirks and annoyances, John C Reilly had happened to call at the very moment I had popped out. Gentleman that he is, John did call back after the designated 10 minutes and commented on the polite "little person" who had fielded his first call. I remarked how she was a huge fan of Wreck-it Ralph and how she wanted me to tell him he ought to make a sequel. “We are making a sequel, that’s happening,” he replies, thereby ensuring one happy daughter in the McBride household. “I enjoyed doing that movie, Wreck-it Ralph was a dream. The great thing about doing a voice-over movie is that you don’t have to change your clothes or put make-up on or anything like that!”

Wow! LITERALLY started back production yesterday! I guess they took a hiatus for Rich Moore to do Zootopia. And speaking of Rich Moore, he just favorited my (and others') tweet(s) about WIR 2. So, I take that as it's happening :D :D :D

Rich's first interview about WIR 2 since the announcement and it's not a clear answer if it's totally happening. Rich seems a little uncomfortable in this interview.
