Re: Disney Animation on Blu-ray in 2015
Hmm.... Still nothing about a Blu-ray release for The Black Cauldron.
Hopefully, this means something.

Re: Disney Animation on Blu-ray in 2015
I´m going to post a similar message as the one I placed on the older post.
Here´s waiting for the last BD releases. Especially The Black Cauldron.
As for Spain/Europe to bring: The Great Mouse Detective, The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh and Winnie The Pooh.
...Winnie the Pooh I simply don´t get. Just DVD. You know that here they numbered the movies on the spines, right? Well, the DVD it´s not numbered. However, on BD when you get from Tangled to Wreck it Ralph a number is missing. So, obviously, Disney has that place taken for Winnie the Pooh. Then, why didn´d they make the BD?

I really hope "A Goofy Movie" comes out on Blu-ray this year for it's 20th anniversary.

Re: Disney Animation on Blu-ray in 2015
Funny thing regarding the live action 101 Dalmatians.
Glenn Close nailed it as Cruella. And now that Disney it´s revisiting the fairy tales on live action (Maleficent, Lady Tremaine in Cinderella) I heard that Cruella might get her movie as well. I´d wish Disney would go back to Glenn Close or not even that. Just don´t do it. Bring back the original live action 101 Dalmatians. Yes, it´s not the best movie ever but, again, Glen Close´s performance was so great!
...I think I maybe tempted to get in on BD just to have it alongside (and when I get them) Maleficent and Cinderella.

Re: Disney Animation on Blu-ray in 2015
Really looking forward to find out what they'll be releasing this year. I expect Aladdin will mark the last DAC title to debut on Blu-ray in the US in October 2015. Coincidentally, ten years earlier (October 2005) marked the last DAC (at that point) to debut on DVD in the US with the Platinum Edition of Cinderella. Who knows how the next cycle is going to roll out after this, and whether it would still be physical releases
Here's a list of my wish-list/predictions for this year's releases:
Walt Disney Animation Studios
1) Saludos Amigos + The Three Caballeros: 2-Movie Collection
2) Make Mine Music + Melody Time: 2-Movie Collection
The 4 remaining package films, could be released together as early as this Spring (to tie the Caballeros collection with the Cinco de Mayo celebrations) or in August.
3) The Black Cauldron: 30th Anniversary Edition
Probably a release around August-October just before Halloween.
4) Aladdin: Diamond Edition
As I said earlier, I'm guessing this will be the last DAC Blu-ray debut in the US. I think they kept delaying it because of that big fuss over the 2004 Platinum release not being well-received and not selling as many copies as expected. I think they simply moved it towards the end of the Diamond line in order to create a much bigger gap between the releases (2004-2015) and create a much bigger demand for it which will translate to big sales. Disney has used this trick for years and it's obviously working well. That's why I also believe Aladdin was never really dropped from the Diamond line as reported a few years ago. They simply tried to shake things up and making people wonder about whether and when exactly it was coming out and create more demand for it.
DisneyToon Studios
5) A Goofy Movie + An Extremely Goofy Movie: 20th Anniversary Edition 2-Movie Collection
Really looking forward to this!! The DVD had an awful transfer, not to mention it wasn't in Widescreen. Hope they finally do this movie justice with a proper CAPS-sourced transfer, it's really long-overdue as the last release was almost 15 years ago (!). Would rather have a digital copy of the first movie than the sequel but can't see them not going with a 2-Movie Collection. Someone over at Blu-ray.com have mentioned a few days ago that the Facebook pages of DMR and DMA both posted an image and a quote from the movie and that this usually means a release is in the pipeline. Probably August again.
6)The Return Of Jafar + Aladdin And The King Of Thieves: 2-Movie Collection
My favourite Disney sequels. I know the animation is really lacking in quality but I think the stories are great and both are really fun to watch. Hoping for a Fullscreen release, probably in November just after the Diamond Edition release of Aladdin.
7) Pooh's Grand Adventure: The Search For Christopher Robin
They tend to release at least one Pooh movie every year, I predict this one will be next. Could be as early as this Spring or in August.
Studio Ghibli
My Neighbors The Yamadas
9) Spirited Away
10) The Cat Returns
The final wave of the last Studio Ghibli titles released by Disney. They kept Spirited Away, the biggest and most requested title, for this big finale so probably November towards the holidays.

Does anyone have an advance US copy of the "101" diamond Blu-Ray? Just wondering if it includes a trailer or flyer for "Aladdin".

Re: Disney Animation on Blu-ray in 2015
For me, the highlight of the 2015 releases are( so far) the upcoming Diamond Editions of "The One Hundred and One Dalmatians" and "Aladdin". However, like some others have already expressed, "The Black Cauldron" and four of the package films( "The Three Caballeros", "Saludos Amigos", "Make Mine Music" and "Melody Time"). While, all five films are perhaps not frequently mentioned or thought of when thinking of the Disney animated filmography; they deserve some recognition and appreciation for the art, style, taste, music and artistic contributions made to each one. For example, it has taken me a while to truly appreciate both The Three Caballeros and Saludos Amigos and it was after listening to an online podcast that discussed/reviewed both films. However, they are pretty enjoyable and the imagery and such are frequent background entertainment during get-togethers. No! seriously, I can say that about all of the four packages films and Fantasia and Fantasia 2000...I have them on the big screen with the volume at mid range, while friends and I hang out for drinks or in and out from outside during summer months. On an artistic level, the four package films that I hope are released this year on blu-ray, contain some of the most unique and varied assortments of animation in terms of style and execution. Fans of Mary Blair should see these films! her hand-prints are in all of them....also, widely used in "Ichabod", which sadly sometimes gets left out when notice is given to her work for Disney. I love!! "Once Upon a Wintertime" and "Two Silhouettes".....also, I think she may have done work on "Trees" but I can not be certain....anywho....I really love both The Three Caballeros and Saludos Amigos..and btw, can the blu-ray please have both "Walt and El Grupo" and "South of the Border with Disney" included!!! I mean, I love!! that these Disney productions have some archival footage and contextual information about them...so please include them! Very few of these minor Disney releases have much information that has been shared or available for the general buying public; and it is for this reason that many of these films remain unrecognized. I have always loved!! Dalmatians, but, it was not till after I viewed "Redefining the Line", that I developed an appreciate for that film from an artistic viewpoint. The latter two, Make Mine Music and Melody Time also begin to show a sort of caricatured design that would remain present in the Disney animated films/shorts till "Sleeping Beauty" introduced a more angular and symetrical character design that would be shown in Dalmatians, Sword and the Stone, and the Aristocats. I want to know so much more about these films and their production....What can be said about "The Black Cauldron" ...the film they say almost destroyed it all...I have always felt that this "red headed step child" in the Disney film canon, has been grossly demonized and it is unfair, because, the movie has some strong points about it. For instance, the musical score...the original...is stunning! it could be Mancini's most underappreciated work. What hurts this film the most, I feel, is the lack of cohesion in the story and bumpy spots in the animation. For this film to have been in development for such a period of time, I would have thought it would have had a pretty solid storyline, especially when you consider that Ollie Johnson( or was it Frank Thomas) brought the story to the studios attention; and, I believe some of the original animators worked on character development. But, it is a case of what could have been.....and you can not change it now. I have always felt that it was a production which was somewhat sent of into production with an unclear outcome. But positives!! as I said before, the music....the original...is lush! innovative! and the most part, I like the majority of the characters designs. The backgrounds for this film are..........incredible! I encourage anyone to look at the cover for the soundtrack album alone...it's amazing. The use of colors, and many of the special effects within the animation, still look good. I HOPE!!! that we get a bluray release this year! and please!!!!!! let it be the original uncut version. I would love!! to see some extras that discuss the production of this film....I know there was a early 80's tv special that had Hayley Mills and during the course of the show, they discuss this film and she states that she is providing the voice of Eilonwy.....I would love to know more! about the changes and the entire process from conception to creation. As, it has been with previous releases of the second tier Disney films, I believe that it is a shame that more info or extras have not been provided. "The Aristocats" is a prime example of a film having an extremely interesting production that is entirely unspoken, mentioned or given a thought to on the blu ray release. This is a shame, because, I believe that there are interested parties and fans of these films who would enjoy having these supplements

Thankfully I can fulfill your requirements as I:
- have a full set of teeth (never lost one);
work as a primary school music teacher;
take thorough showers.
Re: Disney Animation on Blu-ray in 2015
Wanted to share this experience.
I´m a Puerto Rican living in Spain. As such, I grew up in Puerto Rico and, as a fan of Disney and collecting the the Animated Classics on DVD, knew all about it. By this I mean, how Americans view Disney and the reason behind all these different DVDs on Special and Collector´s Editions. Why people expect so much from these releases and why they become so rare and sometimes expensive.
In Spain, this is not the case. In fact, aside from the most populars (The Little Mermaid, Beauty and the Beast, Aladdin, The Lion King...) Disney doesn´t have that much appeal.
I say all these to help understand what I´m about to say...
When Hercules got released on BD was one of the top sellers during a long time in this particular store (and I´m sure most others). As such, I can´t believe Disney had no shame when released it. To say that a country where Disney is not that beloved, and having one of their movies on the top sells only to have this BD that´s the same DVD with enhanced picture and audio quality. They should (but don´t) feel such ashamed of themselves for this.
As we all know, and can´t understand:
-As popular as Hercules and Hunchback of Notre Dame are never got a Special treatment on DVD. We had to wait so many years for them to come on BD and got such lackluster editions.
...and then, there are some that got several releases. And great ones in fact; Alice in Wonderland.
-In other cases they didn´t include the extras of the Collector´s Editions (Tarzan, Dinosaur, The Emperor´s New Groove, Atlantis).
-Even more insulting when a single DVD that was packed with extras got released on BD taking them out (Treasure Planet).
I just don´t get it.

I wish we could see a flyer or trailer for Aladdin. I'm getting impatient!

I'm about 99.9% sure that this trailer for the Australian Blu-Ray release will be used for the U.S. release as well. On the Disney Movies Anywhere site, this is what they are using as the official trailer.

Not labeled as Diamond? Not that it matters of course.
However, doesn´t surprise me. And here´s why. After Frozen they went for Big Hero 6 that hasn´t done as well as the previous one. They´re already bringing Moana soon to keep the momentum going. So, what other way they have to keep the flow than to release Aladdin and have (so sad) Jasmine front and center?
And here´s another thing that make me tremble. After they huge success of Frozen, seeing how Big Hero 6 is doing and if Moana ends up being a success somehow similar to Frozen...we may be getting princesses movie like there´s no tomorrow. After all, they are the ones that make the money.
The Princess line will have so many ones that, when placed together after so many members, will look like 101 Dalmatians.

The ad will be tweaked for the U.S. to include the Diamond label. This particular one is for the Australian release.

So Aladdin is now 100% confirmed as the Diamond Edition for Fall 2015!
