Re: Nathan Greno's Giants
I'm just going to play devil's advocate and say they're clashing with marketing over the role of the princess in the film.

Looks like Giants has a date: March 9, 2018! And apparently, the revelation was a slip of a tongue by Lasseter

Can Lasseter get in trouble by Disney for this? How ironic is it, The Chief Creative Office of WDAS leaks an upcoming Disney Animated Featuredisneyprincess11 wrote:Looks like Giants has a date: March 9, 2018! And apparently, the revelation was a slip of a tongue by Lasseter

I knew the Korean press wouldn't make that up. Disney still tried to put the cat back in the bag by making the American press retract.disneyprincess11 wrote:Looks like Giants has a date: March 9, 2018! And apparently, the revelation was a slip of a tongue by Lasseter
Disney has two slots saved for WDAS films in 2018. The one is in March and the other is in November. So, it's still very likely that Wreck-It Ralph 2 will get released in 2018.nachonaco wrote:Damn, I really thought WIR 2 would come in 2018....

They could do WiR shorts, like they do for Toy Story, Tangled & Frozen.nachonaco wrote:Damn, I really thought WIR 2 would come in 2018....

Sotiris, I've noticed that people keep bringing up Wreck-It Ralph 2. When did we find out that it's actually being developed (if not greenlit)? It's just that I was under the impression that Disney were underwhelmed with the film's box-office performance stateside and would not be pursuing sequels.Sotiris wrote:Disney has two slots saved for WDAS films in 2018. It was recently revealed by Henry Jackman (the film's composer) that a sequel is currently in development.Jules wrote:Sotiris, I've noticed that people keep bringing up Wreck-It Ralph 2. When did we find out that it's actually being developed (if not greenlit)?

Re: Nathan Greno's Giants
Do you guys think Giants will be announced at D23 Expo next summer if John Lassener secretly announced it in Korea?
I seriously don't care if it doesn't since there will be a panel about Moana (which will be the highlight for me), but if Lassener was ready to announce Giants in Korea, despite the 4years release date, it will not surprise me in the least if we get something next year. Especially if it'll prepare us for the 2017 expo.

The fact that Lasseter leaked Giants right after he said that Giants was shelved gave it away that the poster was a liar.Sotiris wrote:Turns out the insider was a phony.disneyprincess11 wrote:Well, guys, I am confused as heck. According to the insider: "On a sad note, Giants has been put to rest."
Second, who would do casting for a 2018 movie this early? And Daisy Ripley (or whatshername) is not that famous, right now.
Third, so if the story for Giants is doing alright, then I do wonder what's up with the last second switch? Maybe it's going to be 2D?

Probably because Moana was in better shape story-wise than Giants.disneyprincess11 wrote:Third, so if the story for Giants is doing alright, then I do wonder what's up with the last second switch?

Giants was shelved and Moana wasn't? In a perfect world, it would be the other way around...

Re: Nathan Greno's Giants
Ever since they were both revealed in the summer of 2013 Moana gained a huge internet following while Giants did not. I believe that the executives at Disney saw this & decided to move Moana up for that Thanksgiving 2016 spot. I mean, just look at this piece from Daily Dot about Moana from this past January:

Re: Nathan Greno's Giants
Well, I'm glad, because I didn't have too much interest in Giants from what I'd read. But who knows how I'll actually feel once (if) both are released.

Ariana Grande ~ "imperfect for you"

Re: Nathan Greno's Giants
Giants is NOT shelved. That guy was a fake. Lasseter has announced (in Korea ) that it's coming on March 9, 2018. I'm pretty sure that we'll get an official announcement at the Expo, next year since Zootopia was announced 3 years before 2016 (Giants will be 3 years from now in 2015).Mach Full Force wrote:Giants was shelved and Moana wasn't? Re: Nathan Greno's Giants
Just take with a grain of salt the rumors you might read on internet, even if it is said "I know a contact insider who...blablablah".
I never heard Giants was shelved and I can tell it is NOT.
Disney never officially announced this movie for 2016 Holidays.
That's all! And whatever the reasons are that Moana will come first...
Take it for what it is for now : Zootopia, Moana, and Giants will follow...
Just be patient for official releases by Disney Animation.

Re: Nathan Greno's Giants
No updates, but another site got in trouble with Disney about leaking Giants and the release date.
If you go to the article through IMDB (It only works on IMDB):
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt2953022/new ... ni57994056
You'll see Giants in 2018 for like 3 seconds until it reloads and *poof* Giants is magically gone! (I actually got a screenshot of the part)

Re: Nathan Greno's Giants
No news (Most likely this August, we'll get something), but look what I found while I was reading that foolish article from LATimes that was saying that Tangled was the last fairytale:
Interesting that this was the only official confirmation we have in this movie. Also, it's weird that the next day this was released, Disney took it on Facebook to call the article "100% false". I wonder if this was pre-written and they were just waiting to see if Tanged failed to make this article public."Films and genres do run a course," said Pixar Animation Studios chief Ed Catmull, who along with director John Lasseter oversees Disney Animation. "They may come back later because someone has a fresh take on it … but we don't have any other musicals or fairy tales lined up." Indeed, Catmull and Lasseter killed two other fairy tale movies that had been in development, "The Snow Queen" and "Jack and the Beanstalk."
