Ghost- "Secular Haze"
One of my favorite bands currently around's new single. I fell in love with them the first time I heard their debut album, Opus Eponymous. Usually with retro-fitted acts, they tend to tread too far towards the vintage or the modern sound, and while Ghost definitely sound older than newer, they do so in a nice, sophisticated way. It's like if King Diamond joined Blue Oyster Cult.
I'm also happy to see the metal community embrace the band so openly and see them be such a surprise hit among fans. Again, acts that lean towards the vintage tend to not catch on too well, but Ghost has obtained a lot of admirers since their album came out, including Metallica's James Hetfield.

Here's the music video, which kicks ass.

"Just Dropped In (To See What Condition My Condition Was In)" - Kenny Rogers and the First Edition
I first heard this in The Big Lebowski; I've noticed that much of my taste in music is due to the music and songs played in films, such as Amadeus, Blue Velvet, The Graduate and obviously Big Lebowski.

Re: What Are You Listening To? Part IV - TURN THAT CRAP DOWN
Songs of the moment:
Christina Aguilera ~ "Fighter"
Mariah Carey ~ “We Belong Together”
Mariah Carey ~ “Whenever You Call”
Mariah Carey ~ “Almost Home”
Jennifer Hudson ~ “Night of Your Life”
I went on a Christina Aguilera binge a month ago, but the past week I’ve been buying/re-visiting Mariah Carey’s albums, and checking out Dionne Warwick/Aretha Franklin’s greatest hits. I’m thinking I might do the same for The Supremes and Donna Summer in future. (I already own everything by Whitney Houston, ofc. )

Listening to most often lately:
Ariana Grande ~ "we can't be friends (wait for your love)"
Ariana Grande ~ "imperfect for you"
Kacey Musgraves ~ "The Architect"

David Bowie songs, David Bowie songs and more David Bowie songs. Particularly Life on Mars. I could listen to that forever.
Oh, and occasionally the Righteous Brothers' "Unchained Melody".

Re: What Are You Listening To? Part IV - TURN THAT CRAP DOWN
I have this disc stuck in my player all day for the last couple of days. Not one to tell people what is good or what is bad about their music choices but I don't think anyone's music collection would be complete without some of these in their collection:
On shuffle:
One - Three Dog Night
It Never Rains in California - Albert Hammond
Poor Poor Pitiful Me - Linda Ronstadt
In My Room - The Beach Boys
Girl - The Beatles
Alone Again, Naturally - Gilbert O'Sullivan
Good Morning Starshine - Oliver
Listen to the Band - The Monkees
Get Down - Gilbert O'Sullivan
Morning Girl - Neon Philharmonic
Indian Reservation - Don Fardon (not that abysmal Raiders version)
You're So Vain - Carly Simon
You've Got A Friend - James Taylor
The Cover of the Rolling Stone - Dr. Hook
Arizona - Mark Lindsey
Don't Know Much - Aaron Neville & Linda Ronstadt
Waiting on a Friend - The Rolling Stones
Just a bunch of great songs that really make my day when I listen to them. You will notice that I don't listen to Rap Crap, you can't use music and rap in the same sentence because it is an 'oxymoron'. Very few non-singers (rappers) that I listen to. I do, however, listen to quite a bit of Metal music and like bands like Metallica, Soundgarden, Tool, and many, many more.

I've been listening to the Celebration Day soundtrack and DAMN, Zeppelin can still play. Robert Plant's best vocal performance is years behind him, but he can still hold his own, while Jimmy and John Paul are still great, and Jason Bonham kills.
