I'm really curious, why exactly do you buy every version of every movie? Do you watch every version? I'm guessing its more of a matter of completionism, but I'm just curious about your answer. :)

It's simple. reyquila is to Disney video media as Steve Sansweet is to Star Wars collectibles.

My Disney Collection

Post by ultimatefilmfan »

It’s been a very long time since I last posted! I’ve gone through my purchases over the past 3 or so years and tried to isolate which films are under a Disney banner.

Here is an update of the Disney films I own, by Title, not by Disc.

I have completed purchasing every theatrical Live-action film released on DVD by Walt Disney Pictures, including all of the rare Anchor Bay releases such as Condorman, Littlest Horse Thieves, Castaway Cowboy, both versions of Happiest Millionaire etc. Many of them have also been released as a DMC exclusives titles which I have also purchased all of.

The biggest area that grew in my collection were Disney Television Movies. I added 67 new titles.

I have not thoroughly gone through my database of new purchases, so I might be missing a few, but here are my new numbers of Disney titles owned.

DVD & Blu-ray
Anchor Bay - 16 (Watcher in the Woods, Return to Oz, The Black Hole, Big Red & Legend of Lobo)
Buena Vista Home Entertainment – 12 (The Muppet Show, Bionicle, etc.)
Buena Vista/Touchstone Television - 62 (Desperate Housewives, Lost, Scrubs, etc.)
Criterion – 7 (Rushmore, Royal Tenenbaums, Armageddon, etc. with new Blu-ray releases)
Dimension - 59 (Scream, Scary Movie, etc.) – Prior to Disney/Dimension split
Dimension/Miramax - 2 (The Crow & Crow: City of Angels)
Disney Documentaries & Imax - 25 (Walt: The Man Behind the Myth, Frank and Ollie, Ghosts of the Abyss etc.)
Disney Parks – 14 (Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, Imagineering the Magic & Christmas DVDs)
Disney Legacy - 4 (All the True-Life Adventures)
Disney Television - 26 (Ducktales, Chip 'n' Dale, Gummie Bears, etc.)
Disney Treasures - 30 (All released Disney Treasures)
Disney 3D - 14 (Meet the Robinsons, Alice in Wonderland, Pirates of the Caribbean 4, Tron: Legacy, etc.)
Disney/Marvel – 6 (Avengers, Thor, Captain America I’m not sure which ones should be considered Disney?)
Hollywood Pictures - 46 (The Rock, The Sixth Sense, etc.)
Miramax - 167 (The English Patient, Pulp Fiction, etc.)
Miramax/Ghibli - 1 (Princess Mononoke)
Miramax/Weinstein – 2 (The Matador & Breaking and Entering)
Pixar - 13 + 19 (All 8 films + double dips & Pixar Shorts vol. 1, 2, Mater etc.)
Studio Ghibli - 16 (Spirited Away, Howls Moving Castle, etc.)
ImageMovers – 2 (Mars Needs Moms, A Christmas Carol)
Touchstone - 168 (People Like Us to Splash, etc.)
Touchstone/DreamWorks – 5 (The Help, Reel Steel, War Horse, I am Number 4 etc.)
Walt Disney Pictures - 262 (The Reluctant Dragon to College Odd Life of Timothy Green)
Walt Disney Animation - 108 (Snow White to Meet the Robinsons including double dips etc.)
Walt Disney Toons - 75 (DuckTales, Bambi II, Return of Jafar, Return to Neverland etc.)
Walt Disney Compilations - 29 (Funny Factory, Small World, Cartoon classics etc.)
Walt Disney Television - 92 (High School Musical, Zorro, Music Man etc.)
Walt Disney Films - 29 (Air Buddies, Other Side of Heaven, George of the Jungle 2 etc.)
Walt Disney Education - 9 (Drivers Safety, Light in the Forest, Justin Morgan, Bill Nye etc.)
Disney Kids - 28 (Rolie, Jojo, Baby Einsteins, Stanley, etc.)
Disney Concert – 3 (Jonas Brothers, Hannah Montana, High School Musical)
Disney Music - 18 (Sing-Along, DisneyMania, School House Rock etc.)
Disney/Henson - 7 (Muppet Christmas Carol, Muppet Movie etc.)
Disney/Walden - 5 (Bridge to Terabithia, Around the World in 80 Days, Narnia etc.)
Disney Bonus Discs - 16 (Pirates of the Caribbean 2 & 3, Scrubs, Lost from Best Buy etc.)
Foreign Disney Releases - 13 (Donald in Mathmagicland, Mulan, Atlantis etc.)
Co-Distribution - 3 (Popeye, Dragonslayer & Running Brave)
Misc. - 1 (Alice in Cartoonland)

Total Disney Distributed DVDs = 1414

Videos Not quite as detailed as DVDs but here are my videos
Dimension - 3
Hollywood Pictures - 23
Miramax - 35
Touchstone - 32
Walt Disney (Clamshell) - 119 (Addition of 'Murder She Purred')
Walt Disney (Box) - 18 (Addition of 'Flash”)

Total Disney Videos = 231

Total number of Disney Titles = 1645

Same as last time, all are counted by title, not by disc, so each number is one release or title. (Ultimate Toy Box = 1).
I did include double dips of titles which have had major updates such as the “Platinum Edition” vs. “Diamond Edition” etc.

When I joined the Navy, I left my DVD collection (about 200 films) at my Parent's house. After I left, the house was rented out to several college students. On my first visit home, I discovered that one of the students had taken about 30 of my DVD's, a good portion of them being Disney ones. He probably pawned them. Here is what I have left.

On DVD

Monsters Inc.
The Incredibles
The Little Mermaid
School House Rock
Flight of the Navigator
Pirates of the Caribean
Holes
The Princess Diaries
The Music Man

I was so upset! He took Alladdin, B&TB, Fantasia 2000, The Newsies, Sleeping Beauty, The Lion King, Mulan, and several others. Later, I started buying Blu-rays. Now, I've have the following.

Toy Story 3
Princess and the Frog
Cars 2
Ponyo
Sleeping Beauty
Tron
Ratatoullie

A lot less than what I had before! Since April, I have decided to ditch DVD's entirely. Now I only buy Blu-rays that include UltraViolet Digital copies, in case they get stolen again. I have replaced almost all 200 of my other films, using Disc to Digital. So I have 280 UV movies. Until Disney joins UltraViolet, I won't be buying any more of their movies. The one exception I made was for Wreck-it Ralph, because they released it on Digital HD early.

No, they moved into another house nearby, but one of my brother's continued to live there. The guy who stole the DVD's probably thought that if he took one DVD at a time, over a period of time, that my brother wouldn't notice they were missing. And he turned out to be correct.

When Disney does join UV, or when I give up waiting for them, I have 60 movies on my wishlist at vudu.com

You forgot about Willow (came out today as well), since that is technically now a Disney flick too.

These are just my DAC's. I have them in my bedroom so the roomies/guests don't get to them. All of my Disney live action/Pixar/Burton/Touchstone are in the living room with the rest of my blu-ray collection.

Hi abenotgabe, may I ask where you got your Pocahontas blu-ray please? I've never seen the stand-alone release with a slipcover before only the 2-movie collection version.

Hi univerALLove, that version of Pocahontas was released in Thailand. It actually has both movies on the disc but its not mentioned anywhere in the case/slip. However the running time does read 154 mins on the very bottom of the back. I think it was a very limited run because all the Thai blu-ray sites I have visited never got a re-stock and they eventually started selling the American 2-Movie Collection and labeled it as "import". Good luck : )

Here are some pics:

Thank you for sharing those pictures :-). I really like that cover art (simple and classy) and it's so nice to see it embossed with a shiny slipcover, it's a shame they discontinued it.
