Iron Man 3

Post by Disneyphile »

In a bid to tap the booming Chinese box office, Walt Disney, its Marvel Studios and Beijing-based DMG Entertainment said Monday that they are teaming up to co-produce Iron Man 3 in China.

“Our collaboration with Disney and Marvel marks a milestone in the global entertainment landscape, as this signifies the first multi-billion dollar franchise to be produced between Hollywood and China,” said Dan Mintz, CEO of DMG Entertainment, at a packed press conference at the Crowne Plaza Beijing hotel.

I hate that crap, too. But, in this case, it DOES make sense. I believe that this film's villain will be...

Mandarin!

So, there will be some cool scenes set in China. Mandarin is to Iron Man as the Joker is to Batman. This should be awesome.

Guy Pearce is in final talks to join Marvel Studios and Disney's "Iron Man 3" as the geneticist Aldrich Killian.

Shane Black is helming the film, that brings back Robert Downey Jr. as Tony Stark and Iron Man, along with Gwyneth Paltrow, Don Cheadle and Scarlett Johansson also set to return to the franchise. Ben Kingsley is set to play the villain.

Rebecca Hall (The Prestige, The Town) has landed the female leading role in Iron Man 3.

Rebecca Hall will play opposite Robert Downey Jr., as she plays a scientist who has a major role in developing the Extremis nanotechnology.

Now that Tony Stark has saved Manhattan and made probably the biggest superhero endorsement in shawarma's history as part of The Avengers, he's going back to the solo adventures that so suit his outsized personality. Iron Man 3 is starting principal photography any minute now, so Marvel Studios and Disney are locking down the supporting cast, including the latest addition, James Badge Dale.

The actor is in a good spot at the moment. Having shown up on television series such as Fox's 24 and AMC's Rubicon, Badge Dale played supporting roles in Shame and The Grey last year. He should also be familiar from his relatively small but crucial role in Martin Scorsese's The Departed. Next year, he'll appear in The Lone Ranger and World War Z.

Now, his 2013 just got even more crowded, as he's signed on to Iron Man 3. According to Variety, Badge Dale will play Eric Savin, an Army Lieutenant Colonel who, in the comic books, became the mercenary cyborg Coldblood after a landmine devastated his body. First appearing in the pages of Marvel Comics Presents back in 1990, Coldblood was one of the Cable-style gun wielding badasses who were popular during the decade that followed.

Nice. After the disappointing Iron Man 2, it's good to know that they're putting more effort into crafting better stories.

I've found the trailer reminiscent of The Dark Night Rises in tone.

By the way, there's already a thread dedicated to Iron Man 3.

While I find Iron Man and Iron Man 2 to be awesomely entertaining...yeah, Iron Man 2 wasn't AS good as the first. And yes, it IS The Stark Knight Rises.

I really like the trailer even though as everyone has mentioned it is very Dark Knight. I just hope they don't go all serious with the film and not have any fun or silly moments. I mean that's what I love about the Marvel films, they have the serious moments but they always add humor. I really don't want to watch over 2 hours of dark and brooding, if I did I would have seen the Dark Knight Rises and not the Avengers. Even with my concerns I still think the trailer is very cool.

Also as a side note, did anyone else notice that the Mandarin has a Captain America Shield tattoo with the anarchy symbol on his neck? I wonder if they will mention it in the film or if it is just an easter egg.
