The Little Mermaid!
How could I vote otherwise?
Homer: Marge, I'm bored
Marge: Why don't you read something?
Homer: Because I'm trying to reduce my boredom

The Little Mermaid of course it's the Disney Animated film that saved Disney. One of the first films to be called The Disney Renaissance (3rd Golden Age).

Well, The Little Mermaid, yeah....

...but Great Mouse Detective is a very close second.

I never think of LTM as a "80s" film (although techinically it is). I always associate it with the "new era" of Disney that gave us so many new classics in the 90s.

So using THAT, I'd say GMD would be my fave - Holmes, Vincent Price and several cheese references. How can you go wrong?

Does anyone think they wouldn't have made Beauty and the Beast if the Little Mermaid wasn't a hit? I kind of doubt that, but I vote for it anyway, since it was a good movie.

TLM, but i really liked Great Mouse Detective. Just like Loomis said, Mermaid isn't really associated with the 1980s, just as most would probably put The Rescuers Down Under in the 80s. But, w/e, The Little Mermaid is one heck of a film.

Of these, The Little Mermaid easily wins. I think The Great Mouse Detective is also a good film, but the three other films are most definitely among Disney's weakest animated features.

Mermaid and Mouse. The other three are just terrible (but I still believe the Black Cauldron has potential to be a good film, maybe some edits here and there could change it).
