WALL E - SE DVD Preview (Menu Caps Added)
So I got the special edition 3 disc DVD today, kinda annoyed with the package (same lame thing as the latest Simpsons DVD - they will end up scratched I just know it.
I'm just going through the features - not much there for a 2 disc edition (the 3rd disc is just the 'digital copy'
But I'm going to watch it all now and get back to you.
The only thing I have seen is the new animated short which indeed fell short of the one shown in theatres with wall e - that was just brilliant.

That's pretty neat packaging! I look forward to getting that special edition 3-disc set.
I wish they lumped the Burn-E short in with the deleted scenes instead of seperating it from them because it pretty much sounds like a deleted scene. Even if it isn't on par with the Presto short, I want to see the Burn-E short to see what the poor robot went through after he got locked out.

Thanks for the caps, lighthousemike!
The packaging doesn't matter much to me, I keep my DVDs in large binders since it's easier to store and retrieve them that way than on shelves.

How'd you manage to get the DVD so far before it's official release date?
Either way, I hate how they're stacking releases and forcing people to buy it with Digital Copy... I bought the 3-disc of The Incredible Hulk because I'm addicted to special features... and I guess I'll do the same with Wall-E.
But hey, thanks to a certain program I have, I can use the iTunes version, and remove the DRM... and then put it on my Zune. It's quite useful, as it saves me from having to encode it myself (which looks a bit better than the official Digital Copy, but takes a lot longer and I'm lazy)

Arabian Nights (Unedited)
Savages (Uncensored)
If it ain't OTV, it ain't worth anything!

The first pic show you the package fully opened, the sides kinda slides in and out and then you fold them out to see the dvds.magicalwands wrote:Two questions:
-Do the sides come out all the way?
-The poster of UP, is that the back of the advertisement book?
Thanks lighthousemike!
NOTHING is holding the dvds, and they slide out a lot, watch out when you first open it.
Looks like they went with the "green" package here, the booklet is made from recycled paper as well.
The poster is at the back of the booklet thingie
there are no pics of upcoming dvds in it - booklet kinda boring.
The feture of the hostiry of pixar on disc 2 is over and hour long. gonna watch that now...

Okay, that's what I hoped. I didn't want the flaps to be able to come apart from the DVD.
More random comments:
The problem with the "holding" of the discs. They did not want to use a plastic stub to hold the disc but a cardboard slot. Could they not have made a cardboard stub? That would be much better than a sleeve which will scratch the part of the disc that gets pushed into there.
"WALL-E 3-DISC SPECIAL EDITION" is printed on all the sides of the DVD. Was it really necessary to do the bottom?
I wonder how the 1-disc is, I am betting there is only one flap and the other side would be closed.
Would this be called a digi-pack even though it isn't in the same format as LOTR or Harry Potter because it comes out from both sides?

The disc art is pretty uninspired... just a handful of images and text against the metallic silver? Looks like the majority of DVDs that came out when the format was new, or 1980s audio CDs.
I hope the Blu-Ray disc art is more interesting. At the very least, it's good that Disney doesn't force people who want all the bonus features to also buy the digital copy, as well. Instead of 1 and 3 disc editions, the Blu-Ray is coming in 2 and 3; much better.
