The site that did the best job of the educational shorts and claimed to be complete no longer is up. Luckily I printed it all out in 2005. I have it all in excel(and I gave it to Luke to do something with here) *hint* *hint*

And lets not get into using imdb as a source. They are lousy. Bcdb at least gives it a decent effort. Most of their data is correct, some of their classifications are just a little wonky.

Looks like the one about AIDS is mentioned after all, but not in the index, where I was looking for it at first.

Yes, to be honest, I don't understand why Disney can't have a site on their own which gives us a complete list over shorts and featurettes, and place them in the category where they belong. I know there is many who would appreciate that .

Also, I have heard that four shorts were made for the planned Fantasia 2006. Three of them were The Little Match Girl, Lorenzo and One by One? Which one was the fourth? Destino (althought Destino had been started decades ago)?

Simple answer: Because Disney doesn't care about their past anymore

Thanks. And that's an impressive list. Maybe if Disney released them as a limited edition collection, the shorts would become available for those interested.

Some of them may be interesting but who wants to watch a 1980s short on computers. Given there is only one more year of Treasures left I dont think we will see this unless a few of them are used to make a second rarities set.

Something has to go with Donald Volume 4 - I would think it would be rarities Volume 4 where they can finish off the Alice's, the two remaining Walt era Specials and maybe some of the more recent shorts and maybe a few of these like the Jiminy Cricket ones.

I saw the "You..." and "I'm No Fool" shorts on old Mickey Mouse Club reruns after school in Chicago in the early 70s; apart from those, I'm familiar with very little on that list and I'd like to see them all.

One item that should perhaps be included on the list: <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Toot%2C_Wh ... oom">"Toot Whistle Plunk & Boom."</a> Wikipedia calls it an educational animated short and lists an original release date of 1953. I distinctly remember it being shown in some elementary school music class from 1970-blank, and I was very happy to find it included on the Fantasia 2000 dvd.

(I would not lobby for including the original Fantasia's "Rite of Spring" segment, but I do recall it being shown in a science class.)

Edit: Whoops. Forgot "Toot" has been issued on the "Rarities" Treasure (along with "Melody," which might also merit inclusion on the list).

No, no. I mean the shorts on which computer is the subject not ones played on your computer. I dont think they have much relevence.

Nevertheless, that sort of material is soon enough going to have a certain nostalgic quality...

I guess I could explain to my kids that 25 years ago we really did operate computers by inserting punch cards.

Maybe next time Bill Cotter drops by he could inform us if there is a possibility.

Exactly! 25 years may not be much in the bigger scheme of things, but in the history of computer technology it's a world of difference. I'd like to see punch cards. And large reels of tape. 8)
