Welcome to the forum, pavanbadal! The DVD order you list is exactly what is listed in Bill Cotter's excellent (and now out-of-print) book <u>The Wonderful World of Disney Television</u>, outside the "Treasure of the Golden Suns" (which he lists first, and appears to be missing, I guess). He claims those are in airdate, and the resource tends to be pretty reliable and relied upon by Disney. Are we sure that the "REAL" order is real? How?

It is really strange. I know Disney Channel/Toon Disney aired the show the order I listed it as. And years ago so did WPIX here in New York. That was probably in the early 90s.

Well, if anyone is interested in asking Bill Cotter where he got his list order from, they can do so by e-mailing him: bill2@billcotter.com.

I will e-mail him. But his order has to be some kind of order because that is all I have seen in reruns (from the early 90s to now). I've never ever seen the order the DVD is going by (tv.com sort of has this order, too). I don't think I remember when it originally aired in 1987-89, all I remember is Fall 1990 when the Disney Afternoon was born.

We are discussing this topic here, too: http://www.hometheaterforum.com/htforum ... ost2833115

Luke, I do have the book "The Wonderful World of Disney Television". It features all of the episode guides from every classic Disney TV shows. There are no revised editions and they're still out of print. In the special descriptions some Disney theatrical films that were aired on certain networks like ABC, NBC and CBS before these films moved into syndication or cable under distribution Buena Vista TV.

Hate to keep replying, but for Chip 'n Dale the 5-part pilot ("To the Rescue") is not included either.

DISC ONE:
***Catteries Not Included***
***Three Men and a Booby***
***The Carpetsnaggers***
***Piratsy Under the Sea***
***Adventures in Squirrelsitting***
***Flash the Wonder Dog***
***The Pound of the Baskervilles***
***Parental Discretion Retired***
***Risky Beesness***

DISC TWO:
***Bearing Up Baby***
***Out to Launch***
***Dale Beside Himself***
***Kiwi's Big Adventure***
***A Lad in a Lamp***
***The Battle of the Bulge***
***Ghost of a Chance***
***An Elephant Never Suspects***
***A Case of Stageblight***

DISC THREE:
***The Luck Stops Here***
***Fake Me to Your Leader***
***Last Train to Cashville***
***The Case of the Cola Cult***
***Throw Mummy from the Train***
***A Wolf in Cheap Clothing***
***Prehysterical Pet***
***Robocat***
***Does Pavlov Ring a Bell?***

Again, this is not following what we see in reruns today.

http://www.toonarific.com/show_episodes.php?show_id=759 This site apparently follows the DVD and as you can see the 5-part pilot is much later. So, if the DVD follows this order, we will get the pilot in another volume!

Also, Normie's Science Project is missing. If they are going in that order that would be #16 between Battle of the Bulge and Ghost of a Chance.

That is because thay did not do that as a pilot but as an origin at the begining of season TWO.

As of right now yesI agree..I just think it is stupid for them to do that, but Disney never does things the easy way. Why do the Gargoyles fan get bonus features and the pilot while Ducktales doesn't!?

That isn't the order in Bill Cotter's Wonderful World of Disney Television, I have it in front of me. This list is the production order.

For the record I am the editor of DuckTales over at TV.com, have been for a couple of years now. Please read this post I have just written there. I'd like to clear this up, and prove my episode list isn't screwed up as some people have said. http://www.tv.com/ducktales/show/3452/forums.html&fpage=show_messages.php&board=2535&topic=128993&item_page=&message=1514899#M1514899

here are some shots of the book

Please zoom in to read these, this shows that the airdate order and that the DVD lists are going by the order in which they were aired

Thanks for clearing that up. So I guess in reruns they now air DuckTales in production order.

Anyhow, what do you think of the predictions for the DuckTales volumes on DVD I made?

Although I would love to see some extras, I really didn't expect Disney to release DuckTales on DVD at all. If the set sells well enough, I'm sure we'll see extras in the future. Nothing fancy, but something. Of course, I'm not holding my breath for these sets to sell through the roof anyway.

And that gets to the crux of it, doesn't it?

Most fans, hardcore or casual, will simply be pleased to get the episodes on DVD in any form that they can.

When Ducktales: The Movie came out in Australia, it was a Target Stores exclusive. Baffling, but I scrambled to go get a copy. Since then, I've been keen to see more of the episodes on DVD, despite thinking this was the least likely release (I was sure the Lilo and Stitch series would be out first, to springboard the success of the DTVs).

I think most people forget that this is a very niche market within a niche market: TV on DVD fans who would buy sets of animated shows. For that niche market, no release will ever be perfect. Stuff will be left off, sure, but not everybody wants an overblown 73 disc boxset with 800 hours of extra footage. Nor could anybody afford it.

The promotion" thus far stinks.

Exactly! How many times has a release differed from what Disney has promoted? How many times have we found a commentary where one wasn't advertised, even on the back of the box. I'm not saying this will happen here, but Disney never really seem to play up any of their extra features on their discs.

This is apparently one of the most requested titles, from my understanding, from Disney/BVHE. I would be surprised if they are going out of their way to screw it up.

Yeah you can't always go my things shown in books. I have the Disney Television book you all are speaking of, and some of the series are a little off. I am a huge Gummi Bear fan so of course I looked at the airdate list. I could tell that something was off becasue there was a 30 min episode listed, followed by a 15 and then another 30. This could never happen, Each showing lasted 30 mins. One 15 min was moved.

So there could always be a flaw or two in everything. I am hoping this will be cleared up in the future. I am sure Disney will release all the episodes someday so HAKUNA MATATA everyone. Let's just be happy that they are putting some series on DVD. I am sure we will all buy them again when the next home video evolution comes about. Let's hope it not too soon

I'm not panicking either. Maybe we'll get all three of them in one box set
