BABY WORDSWORTH
STREET DATE: July 19, 2005, SRP: $19.99

The Baby Einstein Company, parents’ number one choice for infant videos, announces the release of Baby
Wordsworth™, an innovative new title created to expose children to first words and the idea that communication
can take various forms. Hosted by classic Baby Einstein™ puppets, the title includes a special guest appearance by
Marlee Matlin, Academy Award® - winning actress (Best Actress “Children Of A Lesser God” 1986), who
introduces little ones to the concept of language, including verbal, written and sign. Scheduled to launch July 19,
2005, Baby Wordsworth is the first title in the award-winning Baby Einstein DVD collection to be offered with
closed captions, and is an innovative way to explore, discover and communicate with babies and toddlers.
At nine months of age, babies begin exploring ways to communicate and Baby Wordsworth provides interactive
and meaningful exposure to multiple forms of communication, including non-verbal communication. Baby
Wordsworth introduces little ones to 25 different words from five different rooms of the house. Tapping into a
baby’s natural curiosity about the everyday objects they see in their home -- from the kitchen table and living room
window to their favorite teddy bear and ball -- Baby Wordsworth takes parents and children on an adventure
through the kitchen, yard, living room, playroom and bedroom. In each room, little ones are exposed to various
representations of the specific word being introduced – first the written word is shown, followed by Marlee signing
the word, then the word is said out loud for little ones to hear. Baby Wordsworth also incorporates the core
elements that make the award-winning Baby Einstein video collection so unique, including classical music, realworld
images and engaging puppet shows.
In addition to being featured throughout the video, Marlee Matlin hosts the Baby Wordsworth DVD bonus
features including Marlee signing the alphabet in American Sign Language, a chapter with common phrases in sign
language, and various story telling features. The sign language featured throughout Baby Wordsworth is a
combination of American Sign Language and other hand gestures to communicate concepts and words. As with
every Baby Einstein DVD, Baby Wordsworth features multi-language viewing options including French, English
and Spanish. Not rated. Bonus materials not rated.

Hmmm the Secrets of Disneyland one and maybe Father of the Bride. But not Father of the Bride 2 - it sucked.

Just checked my wishlist, and Father of the Bride is on there, so I guess it is a thumbs up.

Thanks, Luke!
I'm really looking forward to the Disneyland thing, both volumes of MMC and, of course, Cinderella. Though, I must say Disney's blatant attempts to flog every ill-concieved object imaginable by stamping CINDERELLA on it, plus those lines at the end about "all-new blah-blah-blah for all ages", sound quite disturbing. I want OLD stuff for extras!

Wow! Reading through that got me very excited!

Here we go:

Sling Blade DC SE - I saw this movie once a few years ago and really, really liked it. This sounds like it's going to be an awesome DVD... I didn't even know it was slated, and perhaps a full press release will reveal even more.

Father of the Bride 15th Anniversary SE - I don't remember much about this movie, except that I liked it. I'm a fan of Steve Martin, Kimberly Williams, Martin Short, and Diane Keyton too. The features here sound ok too, and again, it's not even a full press release yet. This also gives me hope for a future SE release of SISTER ACT, as it's often held up side-by-side with FotB as Touchstone classics.

I've never seen Gone In 60 Seconds or Coyote Ugly, but both sound at least somewhat interesting, especially the former. With what looks like fairly good DVD treatment, perhaps I'll check out these at the time too, or not.

I don't think anything on the Even Stevens Movie and Cadet Kelly are new, but it's still great to see them being released. I'm definitely buying the Even Stevens Movie, and will consider Cadet Kelly for somewhere down the road as well (though I never saw it).
DISNEYLAND - THE SECRETS, STORIES AND MAGIC
OF THE HAPPIEST PLACE ON EARTH

Here is a fantastic “behind-the-scenes’ look at Disneyland. This never-before-seen, feature-length program is a fun-filled look at the amazing story of this cultural icon, which includes a feature on “the Disneyland That Never Was” which shows the many amazing alternate park ideas and designs; an all-new trivia game, sing-along songs from Disneyland and much more. Not yet rated.
Woohoo! It's not just a reuse of stuff from the Treasures set as I feared. This sounds AWESOME. Being the huge Disney park buff that I am, this is one of the highlights of this press release.

Vintage Mickey sounds like a cool idea, but already having all 4 Micket Treasures sets, I don't think I'll pick it up.

I already knew I'd be interested in the '90s MMC disc, but it's nice to see it confirmed here. We still didn't get much clarification on the Best of the Mickey Mouse Club, but I'm thinking it will probably be different than what was on the Treasure too, in which case I'll get it.

Timeless Tales- very cool sounding idea, but again, I stick with the Treasures line for these sort of things.

L&S2- nothing new here... too bad nothing about a SE of the original isn't mentioned, but perhaps Disney plans on releasing it later down the road, as they did with the TLK and Aladdin sequels.
HALLOWEENTOWN MOVIES – THREE MOVIES ON TWO DVDS

DCOM DVD EXTRA:
• Behind the scenes featurette

Halloweentown High

DCOM DVD EXTRA:
• DVD-ROM Party Planner
• Behind-the-Scenes
Well there we have confirmation that the first two will be on the same disc. As long as it doesn't effect quality too much I guess I won't gripe, especially at such a low price (though I'd gladly pay full price b/c I love these movies). I'm also very excited to see that there will be a bonus feature for these movies (what's DCOM?). Exciting!

Cinderella- wow! It sounds like Disney's really gonna pull out all the stops on this one... should be very interesting to see. I expect it to outperform all the previous Platinums.

Thanks for posting all this, Luke... it's quite a lot!

I'm really excited about the Disneyland DVD! Just got back from a trip last week and I'm already missing it.

I'm assuming there is nothing on Vintage Mickey that hasn't been released on one of the four treasures.

Thanks for the info, Luke! I'm definitely picking up Father of the Bride and (of course) Cinderella. Father's features sound rather light but are certainly reasonable for $19.99 (and with a new anamorphic transfer). I'm getting really really antsy over Cinderella. Everyday when I get home from school, the first thing I do is go to UD's main page to see if a press release has been issued, yet. If specs aren't released this week, I think I'll crumble into ash...

Well I skimmed and read the DVDs I'm looking forward to which isn't a lot but there are some decent ones. I just hope we see a lot more DVDs this year besides the ones that have shown up here so far. 2005 feels like it still is trying to get started for me and I already know so many DVDs coming out for most of the year. Too much too soon will leave me wanting more. (which could be good or bad)

The year sure is going too damn fast!

Yeah Disney, all this Halloween stuff and Disney Channel movies are much more important than "Pocahontas"... no wonder why this movie gets no respect at all. Even when they should make a big thing out of it (10th annyversary, extended cut, great DVD...) they botch its release not promoting it at all.
Ok, I will stop my rant because I was also surprised to see new titles like "National Treasure" and "Tarzan II" not being promoted at all.

Anyway, the Disneyland DVD does sound very promissing and it's great that Disney is giving us (hopefuly) quality stuff in such a low price.

I'm very excited by "Cinderella" too... well, what true Disney fan isn't? It's nice that it is getting the promotional push it deserves, something which "Bambi" and "Pocahontas" didn't. I just fear it might be a fluff-filled release... yeah, of course we will be getting meaty stuff (from Disney DVD Insider, I think we should be expecting a Walt's Annotated Story Meetings for this DVD too. I just hope they record a traditional audio commentary as well) but I still think they are over-promoting the kiddie extras... which is totally oposite to how "Snow White" was promoted. Remember how classy the trailers were and how they over-enphasized the REAL extras? Well, Disney has really changed since 2001... And not for the better, I fear.

True, but the DVD market has changed since then too (more than just collectors are buying them now). Bambi didn't get it's fair share of promotion... but as it turns out, it didn't matter. I've seen a decent amount of National Treasure promotion... nothing for Pocahontas or Tarzan II, though.

Well, see, I for one am very torn about these. I fear double dipping, but I don't know if we'll get stuff like Ferdinard etc. on the Treasures. Disney is making so hard to shop these days, I almost don't want to buy anything but the core movies. See, that's not good!

I would not buy any of the shorts until they see the treasures, I can't imagine they are not going to do them all and they wil be in better condition when they do come out

It's still scheduled to come before the end of the year. There's a recent thread on it here: http://www.ultimatedisney.com/forum/vie ... php?t=7930.

What I'd like to know is how long (how much material) the Disneyland Secrets and Original Mickey Mouse Club DVDs will be... One hour ... two hours ... more?

I wonder about 'Ferdinand' and others showing up on a Treasures line.... I may go ahead and buy that one.

Disneyland Secrets has a running time of 90 minutes. Presumably, that's just the main 'feature' and not the extras too. The new MMC DVD has a runtime of 90 minutes as well, as does Vintage Mickey. No length yet listed for the original Mickey Mouse Club, but if these are accurate, I'd guess...90 minutes?

And ZOOMBOOM is right about DCOM. They're clearly trying to do something with the brand and if that something is bonus features for us, then I say, bravo! (Well I don't really say that, but I think that.)
