Yeah I've got to agree with GeorgeCauldron I think it's far more "fun" to come home and find Bambi sitting on your doorstep from the UK or the Fantasia double pack from the US 4 months before it's released here at 4 times the price. I just think it's silly for people to complain about how overpriced the Australian releases are, as if to say there is no alternative to getting them here. Even with the extra shipping costs it still works out cheaper!

As for DMR points I think it's better to save hundreds of dollars over the years buying things at half the price from other countries then saving up some points to maybe one day claim a free DVD.

And this is all coming from someone who works in the Australian DVD industry...and I still rarely buy DVDs from here.

The point is we can do whatever we want and have our own preferences. And there is nothing wrong with complaining when you mention yourself that it's 4 times the price!

Anyhow only 1000 copies of the 2 movie collection were produced Australia wide, so I'm buying it afterall :D

No I totally agree y'all can do as you please. I'm just trying to help you guys out and save you a stack of money but I'm don't mean to sound like I'm standing on a soapbox preaching things that have to be followed. I apologise if that's how my comment came across.

Maybe one day someone from Disney Australia will listen and I won't have to keep sending my money overseas. I hate doing that but I don't really see why I shouldn't?

No one is saying you shouldn't at all :)

I order CDs and DVDs from Japan all the time because they don't sell the items here, so I definitely realise there is an online market.

the Fantasia/Fantasia 2000 combo pack is worth 125 DMR points if anybody was interested :) also the DVDs are not grey like the US version, nor is the insert paper plane white on the inside.

I very rarely buy anything from Australia that isn't over the $15 mark these days. I guess I'm spoilt because between the States and the UK, the possibilities for expanding your movie collection at prices cheaper than home are far too easy.

For example, Madman recently released their Directors' Suite edition of Max Ophul's "Lola Montes" (RRP $34.95), but the same print and content is on Amazon UK for around $22 incl. postage.

Sure you need a region free player to unlock most of the worldwide movie savings, but you'd be surprised at how more and more DVDs from the States and the UK are region free. Each to his own I guess, but I'd much prefer importing if it meant more free cash in my pocket to buy even more movies!
I'm just valentine candy and boxing-gloves!

Walt Disney Studios Home Entertainment added the cover art for the Blu-Ray edition of A Bug's Life, which will use the new Disney Classics style

I expect the Blu-Ray edition of The Incredibles will use the new Disney Classics style too.

They've now updated the Black Cauldron page on BVHE, with cover art and special features.

Doesn't look too bad and it's only two weeks away from being released (2 March).

Edit: Also added Belle's Magical World and Bambi 2 details and cover art:

Here's where things get really odd. All of the above features are actually on the Fantasia 2000 disc itself. Yes, you read that right. Disney is making you sit through neverending bufferings in postage stamp windows when they've authored those same clips on the actual disc. There's no way to view them, however, except by accessing the disc's files on a Blu-ray disc drive. Once you do that, you're actually able to watch these in full screen on your monitor without any loading time.
(from the DVDizzy BD review)

Does anyone with a Bluray disc drive confirm whether these files exist on the Australian version? Thanks!

Walt Disney Studios Home Entertainment added the cover art for the Blu-Ray edition of The Incredibles, which will use the new Disney Classics style too.

The Gummi Bears Season 1 Volume 1 has been classified twice for a DVD release by the OFLC in the last few months, with a lower runtime each time. Expect a perfect example of a local ripoff, when finally released.

Good to see we are getting Alice on Blu-ray...eventually. It's been teasing me at Amazon for quite some time, and I have been fighting the urge to not import it.

Picked up Bambi today. Only 1 BD copy in the whole of the shopping complex... I hope that meant they were popular, not the other way around!

Sanity lists a new combo pack (BD/DVD/Digital Copy) with the teaser poster as a cover (http://www.sanity.com.au/products/21972 ... Combo_Pack)

Whilst BVHE added the 3DBD+2DBD edition to their schedule (http://www.bvhe.com.au/viewtitledetails?TITLE_ID=2714) which unfortunately lacks a DVD.

I'll probably be snapping up both editions simply due to the covers. Pretty excited :D

I just phoned Walt Disney Studios Home Entertainment, and confirmed the local Blu-Ray release of The Incredibles will only be a single disc.

Very disappointing that we will only get a stripped down Blu-Ray release, when Blu-Ray releases of other Pixar titles have matched the overseas versions. Another good reason, not to support the local releases.
