Sometimes I get down about myself, feeling like I’m not “out” enough, or upset about what I see as failings in my romantic life. But then I remember what I thought my life might look like when I was a teenager, and how I’ve come past that... I’ve come out to old friends and new ones, my parents and sisters, I’ve written gay fiction which has been staged and published (in a small university publication, but still!). I’ve had at least one real romance. I’ve corrected people who assumed I was straight. I’ve come so far since I was a kid on here passionately writing about my secret obsessions with Ariel and Julie Andrews! Who knows where I will be next year, or the next, or the next?

Happy National Coming Out Day!

I'm really glad for you UmbrellaFish. Creating, staging, and publishing your work is big, and so is having even one real romance. I've never had what I'd call a true romance. I'm happy you have come out, and come so far.

Happy National Coming Out Day!

UF, you've made big strides over the years for sure. I think it's common for people to think I've done this and this but not this and this, am I not doing enough?! But I think if you're doing what you feel you can do or want to do, then you're doing you. Hopefully that makes sense! Br proud of your accomplishments, and there's nothing wrong with doing things on your time!

Happy Coming Out (Yester)Day!

Thank you for sharing that UF, and sorry for replying late. :)

Keep doing what brings you fulfilment and if you ever feel like a failure, take note of the progress you've made rather than comparing yourself to others you may perceive as having achieved more (but who may also have had an easier life or otherwise not faced the same challenges or difficulties you have, making the comparison effectively null and void.)

I say this as someone who is very much guilty of comparing myself to others.

Take care! :)

Look at my Pride cake! All from scratch, made by myself. It was pretty simple to make but a little time intensive because of limited oven space and cake pans.

Wow! It looks like every colour is a separate cake layer, right?

You must have been really careful not to 'break' each layer while stacking it all! Bravo! :)

Love the nickname, Duster! :D Mind if I adopt it when addressing UmbrellaFish?

Yes, it is! You do have to be careful when handling cake, but the truth is icing can hide a lot of imperfections!

Bumping this thread again to announce that I started taking HRT a couple days ago. Even if the body doesn't eventually match as the woman I identify as in my head, I am content with taking the risks knowing who I am. :float:
