Thanks for the clarification. And, yes, I meant universe not multiverse, but you understood my question. It's true; some of these returning characters could be new versions from a different universe and not the same ones we know.
Sotiris wrote:I also always wanted an X-Men 4 with the original cast. And no, Days of Future Past doesn't count.
I wish they had made more movies with the original cast too. The young version of the cast is not bad, but I much prefer the original actors.

As for Sam Raimi's Spider-Man, I like the original trilogy, but I guess I'm not as big a fan of it as others. I much prefer the X-Men films, for example. I think I actually like Tom Holland's version of the superhero and Zendaya more than Toby Maguire and Kirsten Dunst. However, though I've really enjoyed the last two films in the franchise, I think the stories of Sam Raimi's films were stronger in general and the tone was more epic. That version will probably always be seen as the definite film version of Spider-Man.

I think Sam Raimi's Spider-Man franchise was actually very similar to those first X-Men films--with both cases, the first movie was great, the second movie was even better, and the third film was absolutely terrible. Come to think of it, the same applies to Christopher Nolan's Batman trilogy as well. I'm very attached to Tom Holland as Spider-Man. I think he's better in the role than Toby Maguire was, but unfortunately the Tom Holland films are tepid so far. What a waste of a perfect cast they had in Holland, imo. I loved Dunst though, don't care for Zendaya.

It's funny, my favorite versions of most of the characters are strewn across different versions. Tom Holland for Spider-Man, Kirsten Dunst for Mary Jane, Sally Field for the aunt. None of the villains have really stood out for me. Too bad Dunst is sooo much older than Holland, I'd say let's use this multiverse thing to make a new version with those actors as the core.

They're gonna de age Alfred Molina as doc ock so he looks as he did in the second spiderman. If they really wanted to they could do it for Dunst as well. Heck, maybe they'll de age everyone so it looks like no time has passed. Age is increasingly becoming less of an issue for casting.

My brother always had an issue with Spiderman not making this thing where his webs come out and they just do, otherwise he really loves the first film and he loves the first film of the MCU. He doesn't really remember the Andrew Garfield films, I don't think he cared about them, and he had an issue with the second MCU film because Spiderman wasn't snarky when he fights like he usually does. He also thought the twist with Mysterio was dumb because everyone knew he was a bad guy. He also didn't like Into the Spider-Verse.

He actually doesn't follow the news about this movie (he doesn't even watch trailers) so it will be interesting to see his reaction live. I don't think he will be thrilled about it.

That's true, that's the general consensus on the three trilogies. It's quite curious. The original Star Wars trilogy too, but that's a different genre. Personally, though, I usually prefer the first film in a trilogy, especially with superhero movies. In the first film, the plot is usually simpler because they need time to introduce the characters and the world and explain why the protagonists became superheroes. But that's what I like about them; that they usually spend more time developing the characters and their relationships and building their world. The following installments tend to be more complex plotwise (that's probably why they're better regarded than the first ones) and have more villains and action. I don't know why the third ones are worse in the case of these trilogies, though, but maybe the pressure to deliver a big epic finale the filmmakers probably have could have something to do with it. Personally, I never understood why the third X-Men film is so hated. I don't like it much less than the two previous movies.

The first Sam Raimi film is also my favorite from that trilogy and I too prefer Homecoming to Far from Home. Although, personally, I did like the twist with Mysterio. But I've never read the comics, so I wasn't sure if he would be evil or not. I don't like the Andrew Garfield films either or him in the role. I liked Emma Stone there, though. As for Into the Spider-Verse, I quite liked it, but the truth is that the second time I watched it I didn't find it as groundbreaking as I first thought it was.

^I'm not buying it. Actors and filmmakers lie through their teeth to the press nowadays. Remember when the Russos swore Avengers 4 wasn't going to be called Endgame? Personally, I find it really distasteful when celebrities do that. They should either tell them they can "neither confirm nor deny" or have their publicists instruct the press to not inquire them about said project.

I'm actually more convinced he's in the movie than before after watching the interview.

I agree, that's what they shoud do. But maybe studios want them to keep lying because it generates more news and gets people talking, which is a way of promoting their movies.

How do he know he's lying? Garfield said he didn't get a call. But if he truly is in the movie, maybe the offer came with an e-mail or his agent set up a Zoom meeting with Kevin Feige.

Personally, if I was an actor or filmmaker, I would be annoyed that people want to ruin what could potentially be a fun surprise. The appearance of one actor in WandaVision was leaked months before the show aired, so people were expecting it and thus deflated some of the intended shock. Meanwhile, a recognisable actor showed up in The Falcon and the Winter Soldier and Marvel somehow was able to prevent that from being revealed before the episode aired. So when that actor appeared, it was a wonderful surprise rather than "hey, there you are."

I agree. Maybe the first time someone straight up lied and said they weren't going to be in something was cute, surprising or something else, but nowadays it makes me eye-roll and be annoyed at the actors that tell them. These interviews are shameless promotion (nothing wrong with that) and their publicists should be able to require the press to not ask questions they can't answer or will be required to lie if asked.

That would be the best solution, in my opinion. Having to lie is awkward and unpleasant for talent (and it insults the public's intelligence) and saying something along the lines "I can't talk about this" on record is essentially admitting their involvement. Also, when the cat's out of the bag, studios should just allow their talent to admit it. It's ridiculous having a trade or paparazzi photos reveal an actor's involvement and still forcing them to play dumb.

The film looks really interesting. Although, as I said in another thread, I'm not a fan of mixing characters from different Spider-Man versions. I didn't expect Peter wanting to undo his identity reveal or a spell by Doctor Strange would be what causes the different universes in the multiverse to collide. It also looks like Doctor Strange is playing the role of mentor Iron Man and Nick Fury had in the previous two movies.

Tom Holland is such a cutie. He's only an okay Spider-Man but he's for sure the most visually appealing. Then again I used to have a major crush on Andrew Garfield as Spidey.
