Ok, this is hard.... everytime I do it I either forget something, or have trouble placing one film above another (How can I compare The Little Mermaid to the Godfather, and I love both in different ways). And why 25 - why not 13, or 68?

Anyways...here is my crack at it (partially from other lists I've done on this forum)

I don't want to rank 'em, because I just can't bring myself to do it, but here goes...

The Obvious Ones:
The Godfather - on any list. I love mafia movies, and this is the king. Must've seen it...twice!

Star Wars
Empire Strikes Back - of course. Need I say more? I don't rank Jedi as highly though.

Aliens - tough call in a great series of great directors. But this one always brings me back. While it does go the "action" path, it is good sci-fi too.

Moulin Rouge - beautiful, stunning, funny, heartbreaking and a bunch of other descriptive phrases. Always makes me cry. And that's a big thing for me. It's Australian too :)

Back to the Future - most watched film as a young 'un. I think I could quote the whole thing backwards at one point. Now I'm lucky to be able to get a "Think McFly!" out....

Ghostbusters - Gee, I wonder what decade I was a kid in? ABsolutely one of the funniest films ever made. Bill Murray is a god. I knew I was hooked from "Listen - you smell something?". Never thought about Stay-Puff Marshmellows since...

Chasing Amy - a movie that made me laugh and cry at a time when I needed both. Took me completely by surprise, and still does.

The Little Mermaid
Fantasia
Lilo and Stitch - Fave Disney films. All for different reasons. I know I shouldn't like the Little Mermaid songs, given my taste in music, but I think they are perfect. Fantasia was my first Disney love, and Lilo is my latest.

Not so obvious:
Once Upon a Time in the West - one of the best westerns ever. Turns the whole genre on it's head, but stays very much in the western mould. Sound strange? Watch the bloody thing and be blown away.

Annie Hall - I could watch this any time, any place. Any detractor of Woody should watch this and see how good comedy writing can be (this coming from a writer).

Pulp Fiction - nearly wore the tape out, bought the DVD and tried to do the same.

Rear Window - probably my fave Hitchcock, with Vertigo a possible alternate on any given day.

Highlander - what can I say? It was the 80s, I watched it a lot. Now I own the DVD and all the sequels (and some of the series).

Spinal Tap - anything these guys put out is great, but this one started it all. Not a mocumentary, this is a documentary as far as I'm concerned! If you don't believe me, listen to music from the 80s or buy the Darkness' new record! "The darning of the sock, the scoring of the goal..."

Singin' In the Rain - I used to say I hated musicals, this changed my mind. Now I'm a big Gene fan, and adore synchronized dance sequences.

Blues Brothers - for someone who said he used to hate musicals, this is my what? SIXTH music related film here. Another one where I tried to wear the tape out. What a soundtrack!

The Great Escape - I find myself sitting down to watch this at the strangest times. Some terrible Australian accents though.

Lord of the Rings: Fellowship of the Ring - Two Towers was amazing, and I'm Return of the King blew me away, but I could watch this one over and over and over.

Other stuff I love to death but can't be bothered writing about now...

Fight Club, Evil Dead 2, Dawn of the Dead, Fistful of Dollars, X-Men 2, Darby O'Gill, El Mariachi (great inspiration for budding filmmakers).

Is that 25?
I think it is about 28 by my count, but who is counting? :)

Is it really necessary to write the movie's release date after the title???
:?

By the way Jack, I'm glad you got rid of Butt-face, and put Hook instead, brotha'.

Hmm...when you have two Alice in Wonderlands, and two Cinderellas...it may not hurt to include a release date.

Hmm, well, my top 25 list has a ridiculous amount of Disney animation devoted to it, so here's my list without Disney:

1. The Passion of the Christ
2. Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince
3. Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix
4. Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire
5. Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban
6. Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets
7. Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone
8. The Wizard of Oz
9. Singin' in the Rain
10. Chicago
11. The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King
12. The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring
13. The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers
14. Grease
15. Jesus Christ Superstar
16. Peter Pan (2003)
17. Meet Me in St. Louis
18. Casablanca
19. Kiki's Delivery Service
20. Raiders of the Lost Ark
21. Stardust
22. E.T.: The Extra-Terrestrial
23. Down with Love
24. A.I.: Artificial Intelligence
25. Star Wars

Yes, there's a lot of fluff on here, but these are the films (minus Disney, of course) that are closest to me. And for the record, the majority of these films are REALLY close together in rank. Just because one movie is 2 or 3 slots above another doesn't mean I like that higher movie a whole lot more, just slightly more.

For those wondering what my list looks like with Disney films in it:

1. The Passion of the Christ
2. Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince
3. Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix
4. Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire
5. Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban
6. Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets
7. Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone
8. Alice in Wonderland
9. The Wizard of Oz
10. The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian
11. The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe
12. The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh
13. The Hunchback of Notre Dame
14. Cinderella
15. Beauty and the Beast
16. Aladdin
17. Singin' in the Rain
18. The Little Mermaid
19. Uo
20. Finding Nemo
21. Chicago
22. Sleeping Beauty
23. The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King
24. The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring
25. The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers
