DC Super Hero Girls

Post by Sotiris »

DC is launching a new merchandising and media franchise called DC Super Hero Girls which puts it in direct competition with the Disney Princess franchise.

In fact, DC's super heroines got a makeover that resemble the Disney art style and the franchise features a line-up that also resembles the Disney Princess one. Wonder Woman=Snow White/Cinderella, Supergirl=Rapunzel, Batgirl=Belle, Harley Quinn=Aurora, Bumblebee=Tiana, Poison Ivy=Ariel, and Katana=Mulan.

This campaign is already better than the princesses. Focusing on how these women are strong (in ways other then strength) and active and not sexual objects (like their comic book couterparts) is a great start.
