Excusive Romanian Adaptations of Disney Classics

Post by Vlad »

There was a publishing house in Romania in the early 90s that released various books, adaptations of classic tales, with a unique style of illustrations. Two of these tales, namely Snow White and Beauty and the Beast used illustrations that were clearly inspired by the Disney movies, yet they didn't use the names in the movies; instead they used Romanian names. For example, Snow White was named Călina, Belle was named Alina.
They didn't even acknowledge Disney. They used interesting titles. For Snow White it was Fata de împărat și cei șapte pitici (In English, it's The Emperor's Daughter and the Seven Dwarfs), and for Beauty and the Beast it was Ultima petală a trandafirului (In English, it's The Rose's Last Petal). Now, the illustrations are drawn in the style of Romanian storybooks, and the characters look nothing like themselves. I have here the covers for both books, so you can have a general idea of what I'm talking about.

Was there any similar cases for other countries as well?
