I like that they've come up with a new concept for the poster and didn't just recycle past artwork. I also like the thorny details in 'Beast', but 'Beauty' should have been more delicate and stylized to reflect the petals of the rose and be in more direct contrast to 'Beast' that represents the thorns of the rose.

Still don't like they're starting with a tour. The revival should have been Broadway-bound.

It's probably the same reason why they are making a Sister Act tour in the UK (with Whoopi to play Deloris in the London stop) instead of a limited Broadway run. Not a revival, but a Disney+ shooting (and the audiences will pay for it!). With Frozen closed, I assume that if this revival is incredibly well received, it has a chance to end up on Broadway

Yikes that poster is an eyesore. It looks like a direct to video knock off with the mish mashed colors and the merger figures emerging from the flower petal skirt. I get what they were going for but that doesn’t even get close to what it should be.

This is defientely the Broadway revival. It all lines up with the creative team and timeline. I can't wait to hear more. Wonder this will take on the SJT and Hercules will go to New Amsterdam where Aladdin is.

I third on the keyart. It looks like a community theater poster. The concept isn't bad (love the rose skirt!), but I hope they make it more mature.

I always thought of the re-makes as a way for Disney to revitalize their brands in the public’s mind as well as make an easy buck, so I suppose borrowing aspects of the remake in the marketing for this seems like another way they’re doing that. I'm not sure how I feel about the poster exactly, although my reaction was mostly positive. It's visually striking anyway, although I'm not sure the idea turned out as nice as they probably thought it would. I really hope they include “Evermore” as part of the show.

You know, I wonder if they'd release another OBC if they were to revive old shows. I just know a lot of other Broadway shows release recordings for different adaptations of the same shows.

Disney is kinda cheap nowadays with their cast recordings, so I wouldn't put too much hope on a new one, especially if there isn't any major changes to the show. Beauty and the Beast had a Broadway, London AND an Australian cast recording, but Aladdin only has one, the current revival of Mary Poppins didn't get a cast recording and so on (speaking of English recordings, that is). I think it's a shame, but it is what it is.

Guys, it's not a rose skirt. The petals are on the Beast, too. How would he be wearing Belle's skirt?

This new poster looks so cheap to me...It looks like a cover from one of this romantic books that are not very well written. You could find this kind of poster easly in a cover of one of Jude Deveraux's books...

I wonder why they're looking for much younger actors for this production.
To celebrate the 25th anniversary, from the producers of The Lion King, Mary Poppins, Aladdin, and Frozen comes a revival of the most enchanted musical of all time, Beauty And The Beast. Note that in this production the playing age of the cast is substantially younger than that of the original. We strongly encourage all cultural, religious, racial and ethnic backgrounds to attend. Auditions begin w/c 28th September with finals w/c 2nd November 2020 in London.

Strange. B&tB is actually one of those stories where they could get away with aging the characters up--to late twenties even.

" I also made changes to the dialogue with an eye to gender equality and progressive cultural awareness. But Belle is still the intellectual feminist heroine she’s always been. "

I'm sorry, just stop Linda please.

I am excited to go and see this again though !

There's going to be tap dancing? :eyebrow:
Spectacularly reimagined in startling new designs which will use the latest theatrical innovations, this timeless romantic tale will be brought to life on stage like never before, with all the charm and elegance audiences expect from Belle and her Beast. Among the many new features of this 2021 Beauty and the Beast is an exuberant tap dance within the legendary production number Be Our Guest, created expressly for Gavin Lee, recognised as one of the great tappers on either side of the Atlantic.

^Yeah, but it's Gavin Lee. I trust that Disney and Gavin know what they are doing. (And tap dancing is pretty neat, IMO!)

I'm glad Angela Lansbury will be involved in some way. I still think it's a shame the re-make didn't have her to play the Enchantress' old woman disguise in its prologue.

That's a great idea. It's indeed a shame they didn't think of it or cared enough to have her involved in some capacity. Then again, it would have been nice if Robby Benson and Paige O'Hara had made cameos too.
