Jelani Alladin and Krysta Rodriguez sang the new song "Forget About It" at Feinstein's/54 Below. Krysta also performed "I Won't Say (I'm in Love)" there.

Thank you so much for posting these! "Forget About It" is a cute song with a catchy tune even though I'm not fond of when two people sing counterpoint. Its verse reminded me a bit of "Life's Too Short" from Frozen. I was really impressed by how good both Krysta and Jelani sounded live! If only we got such good singers in the live-action remakes. Here's Krysta Rodriguez and Susan Egan performing "I Won't Say (I'm in Love)" as a duet.

Fingers crossed it eventually comes to Broadway.
Alan Menken wrote:I've wanted to do [a staging of Hercules] for years. It was a little bit like Newsies, where sometimes material just marinates very well: Newsies marinated. Hercules marinated. Coming back to it, we brought much more dimension and richness to it. I don't know what the plan is yet. We're all going to try to figure it out because it was very special.

I’d like to see this come to Broadway, same with Hunchback of Norte Dame.

It's disappointing that Hercules isn't being prepped for Broadway, but giving it another go on stage is still good news. Who knows, it may very well end up on Broadway one day. If it happened for Newsies, it can happen for Hercules.
Q: Have you been writing? What have you been doing in your downtime?

Alan Menken: It's been a great time for writing, yeah. Production stopped on the Little Mermaid movie. We recorded all the songs. I wrote four new songs with Lin-Manuel Miranda, the lyricist for Mermaid. I'm working on Disenchanted, the sequel to Enchanted. I have another Broadway show. We have Hercules. Hercules is coming to the stage. Of course, we did that in Central Park last summer. Just a whole bushel of new projects.

I will continue to pray for a recording regardless if it isn't going to Broadway, like what happened with Hunchback. Please please please.

What's the Broadway show Menken is talking about? It sounded like it could be Hercules. While it's not transferring for now, I'm sure that it will eventually. It has a huge demand from the public, like Newsies did. And it had rave reviews, unlike Hunchback.

I'm just so happy that I somehow won the lottery and saw the show. It's defientely Disney's best! (It needs to be touched up a bit though, like the climax).

He didn't mean Hercules when he talked about working on a Broadway show. It may have seemed ambiguous in my transcription, but it was clear in the actual footage he was referring to something else. I hope it's Tangled which he hinted at recently, but it's probably a non-Disney project.

There's a chance Hercules will end up on Broadway!
Q: What are you working on right now?

Alan Menken: We're working on the Broadway show or the stage show, depending where it goes to, Hercules.

I hope so and I wouldn't be surprised either. Lately, the film has been showing itself to be more popular than it was in its original release. Maybe the Broadway show can be another way in which the property redeems itself in Disney's eyes. :D Either way, I'll be satisfied whichever way the wind blows as long as we get a cast recording.

I think Disney should use WAY MORE of the Actors from stage adaptations of their movies as voice Actors of Future animated movies !!, that would be fun :D

Maybe Sierra Boggess can get a voice role in a Future animated movie !

Sherie Rene Scott could voice a villianeess in the movie after Raya perhapes !

Adam Jacobs should also get a voice role and James Monroe Iglehart & Jelani Alladin !!

Sorry if this was some what of topic ! :(

I agree, DisneyFan87, especially about Jacobs and Iglehart. I’d also add Jeremy Jordan from Newsies, Ashley Brown from MP, and Ciara Renée from Hunchback to that list. And I actually always liked Josh Strickland from Tarzan, too, although that show didn't do so well... I think he has the voice to play one of those old-fashioned princes who don't get much screentime other than wooing the princess.

"We're gonna take it to the next level," says Schumacher. "There is no intention of Broadway, but there are all of these theaters across the country that are dying for it. We've turned it into a two-act [show] and made some changes."

Disney Theatricals has confirmed that work is being done on the show for licensing purposes, "as was always the intent," meaning that Hercules will probably bypass Broadway in favor of regional, stock, community, and school productions.

^ That doesn't even mention a national tour for Hercules...so they'll just be licensing it out to local theater groups? On the Disney on Broadway for 25 years re-stream from Friday, Jelani Alladin was on, and during his interview, they talked about him originating two Disney Theatrical roles...which is true, but sad that he won't continue to be Hercules, that he only was for a short time. :(

He said the company has also begun work on two new musicals adapted from Disney films: “The Jungle Book” will be directed by Christopher Gattelli with a book by Rajiv Joseph and new songs by Richard Sherman. And “Hercules,” directed by Lear deBessonet, will be written by Robert Horn, Alan Menken and David Zippel, expanded from a version that ran last year at New York’s Delacorte Theater under the auspices of the Public Theater.

I'm not sure if this cover of the song "To Be Human" from the Public Works stage adaptation has been posted or not: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3oZDK-Dsx48

It hasn't. Thanks for sharing. It gave us a sense what the song is like. I wish there was a video of Jelani singing it though like "Forget About It".
