A poster is better than bad cover art, true. I just always wish for new cover art, as long as it's good.

I think we have to wait until 2020-2021 before we will hear anything about Fantasia. Fantasia (and Fantasia 2000) are truly vaulted titles.

Releases on Home media:
VHS of Fantasia -1991
DVD of Fantasia -2000
Blu-ray of Fantasia- 2010

Hey, guys! I have a question. I recently bought a 4K Blu-ray player from Sony. I still own a Full-HD 3D TV, but I do wanna upgrade to a 4K TV next year. Meanwhile, if I bought a 4K disc, would I be able to watch it on my HD TV? If I understood correctly, I would see it, but in Full HD. What do you know? :)

I'm glad I hadn't bought the previous TLK Signature already this past month, because this cover is much better.

Interesting choice for the cover art. Quite honestly though, why should fans feel inclined to buy this, especially when Disney can't even follow through with giving their last few animated classics a proper retail release on Blu-Ray?

JeanGreyForever wrote:That's true, but The Little Mermaid hasn't gotten a Signature Edition yet, so if it does get a 4K release in upcoming months, it'll count as the new Signature title.
I doubt WDSHE will be releasing Mermaid this year. Q4 is already packed with home video releases: Incredibles 2, Pixar Shorts Vol. 3, Celebrating Mickey, Olaf's Frozen Adventure, The Lion King 4K, Wreck-It Ralph 4K, Christopher Robin, Ant-Man and the Wasp.

Me too. Well, either that or this one.

Do you prefer this cover? Maybe you can import the Australian release then.

I would rather have that cover art, yes, it's pretty nice and it's new, but I won't be buying anyway. I only by the films that are my favorites. I like The Lion King but it's not a favorite.

At least it was a different cover.

People on blu-ray.com say that this might be the official cover.

Do you think Disney are going to rerelease the privious titles on 4k instead of waiting for the next line?

I really hope for Beauty and the Beast they use the master they used for the 3D. I know they used the same master of the 2D Diamond Edition for the Signature Collection, but they might never saw the need to change it. However since they need to upscale the video to 4k anyway, they might use the latest master for it. What do think?

As much as I love that particular poster art, I appreciate this original, new art much more.

So, is the original poster cover art only for the steelbook edition or is it not being used at all? If it's not being used at all, I'm passing on this release and picking up the first Signature release instead because that new one is easily the ugliest cover TLK's ever had (and that's including sequel covers). Literally the only thing I like about it is Rafiki's symbol for Simba in the 'O.' Blech. Way to build somebody's hopes up and then drop them like a rock.

The new cover reminds me of the DVD covers that Disney would make for the Diamond Edition. At this rate I wouldn't be surprised if they use that Diamond DVD Cover for the 4K UHD edition of The Little Mermaid, the one where her tail takes up more than half the cover art.

On the contrary, I feel like this is one the best and most majestic cover they've done for this film.

Simple but oowerful. I especially love how that glare is only something Simba earns right at the end of the film. It had a power the other covers could not quite convey. Kudos to the artist!

This cover reminded me of that, too. I had planned to buy the TLM Diamond DVD just because I'm a TLM fanatic, but I never did. It was quite an ugly cover. Hopefully this is for a misc. version of the 4K release and I can get the original poster cover somewhere or other as either a BestBuy or Target exclusive.

Oh, that would be really nice for TLM’s next release. It probably stands a chance, too, considering they’ve used it for the main menu on the Platinum and Diamond releases. Personally, I’d love if they used the 1997 lithograph for the next cover.

The Little Mermaid Diamond Edition DVD cover could have been great if her fins hadn't been so large and not in front of Ariel, almost hiding her. I'm not a fan of 3D and I even don't have 3D TV, but I bought TLM 3D just for the art cover. I hope the Signature has a good cover as well.

I tried looking that up, but found a number of images and didn't know which you were thinking of. Care to give us a link or post the image?

Will this Blu-Ray release include the extended version of the film?

I don't know how I feel about the new cover. I sorta like it but I also sorta don't. It's interesting how much Disney loves covers with the protagonists standing side by side with the main villain (Diamond Sleeping Beauty, Signature Snow White, etc.)
