Well, it says he's "in talks," so we'll see if he pulls a Will Smith.

I'm not as opposed to movies like this like I am to the re-makes. Even the new Mary Poppins isn't as bad an idea, since it's not a remake...and there are multiple Mary Poppins books.

I, personally, just want Disney to tell original stories. Not retread what they already made (amazingly) before.

Honestly I prefer the remakes. Cinderella, Jungle Book, and Beauty and the Beast are much better than Alice and Maleficent any day. The former three aren't perfect by any means, some more than others, but they're a world apart from the latter two imo. I wouldn't mind a new perspective or twist if it fit the story but this trope of a middle-aged workaholic Christopher Robin reconnecting with his family by embracing his childhood is already tired. I'd rather see the same thing over again in a slightly different form than something completely new that claims to be connected to the original but is only so in name to pull in crowds.

Well, I'm a fan of McGregor. Might as well be him as much as anyone.

My issue with the Alice/Maleficent movies are that they *tweak* the original stories, too... Like, with the new MP movie, yes, besides Emily Blunt playing Mary being an obvious change from the original, it's not a remake, it's a new adventure. While I haven't seen all of Maleficent (I fell asleep...but that happens a lot :p), and while I didn't even get to the Aurora part(s), I know that Maleficent wakes up Aurora, not Phillip, and I just don't like that at all; I've seen SB, I know what happens.

Idk, I'm just picky about my Disney movies. But it's good that the different fans have different thinks they like and don't like from Disney!

The trailer for the other upcoming film about Winnie the Pooh, the one produced by Fox Searchlight, has been released. It reminds me of Finding Neverland.

Gemma Arterton is no longer in talks to star in Christopher Robin. Reps for the actress had been speaking with the studio as of last week, but talks did not progress from there. Ewan McGregor is starring as the title character, the now-grown child from A.A. Milne’s Winnie the Pooh stories, in the movie being directed by Marc Forster.

McGregor will play the adult Christopher Robin, who has lost his sense of imagination and is a businessman focused on work and success. (And yes, Pooh and the gang will be making appearances in the film.)

The movie is set to begin shooting later this summer in the U.K. Oscar-nominated screenwriter Allison Schroeder (Hidden Figures) did a recent pass on the script. Alex Ross and Tom McCarthy worked on earlier drafts.

This could be well made but it's got one uncreative concept :headshake:

Will Pooh and friends even talk? If not, I wouldn't call it a "live-action WtP."

‘Agent Carter’ Star Hayley Atwell Joins Ewan McGregor in Disney’s ‘Christopher Robin’ (EXCLUSIVE)

She will play Christopher Robin's wife in the film. I guess it's the same role Gemma Arterton was considered for.

Is it just me or is Disney recycling its actors yet again...First off there 's James Earl Jones returning for Lion Guard as well as TLK live action remake. Johny Depp is like Mickey Mouse. .It's like the guys signed some 14 picture deal or something? ? Now Ewan McGregor yet again??? Idris Elba as Shere Khan and appearing in Zootopia. ....It's just plain lazy or purely financially driven casting...creativity be damned

I'm pretty sure Disney's done that before, for years. Tim Allen voiced Buzz Lightyogurt and starred in a load of shitty kid's films, and lindsay Lohan was also big at Disney. And Hans Corned, Bobby Driscoll and Luana Patton also appeared a lot in the old Walt era years, too.

I.......

Jim Cummings, the current voice of Winnie the Pooh, will continue to voice the role he has held for decades. Everybody Loves Raymond‘s Brad Garrett will take on the role of Eeyore. Alan Tudyk, who brought K-2SO in Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, will be voicing Tigger.

Cummings voicing Winnie is obviously good news. I know Tudyk can do a lot of impressions so hopefully he can mimic Tigger's sound well and not just use his normal voice. I'm most concerned about Garrett voicing Eeyore. I feel the casting on that is totally wrong. He previously voiced Eeyore in the game Disney's Animated Storybook: Winnie the Pooh and the Honey Tree. Garrett has no range as a voice actor and the color of his voice lacks the sensitivity and melancholy associated with Eeyore.

Nick Mohammed will be voicing Piglet in the film which has been scheduled to open on August 03, 2018.

How will the characters look? Will they be in CGI or puppets, have a realistic design or look more like their canon cartoon counterparts...

^We don't know yet. I'm hoping they'll be puppets or animatronics of some kind.

Here's a couple of pics that leaked from the shoot.

I'm still not convinced this has much value, but I think Brad Garrett would be great as the voice of Eeyore.
